West Side Dance Project

I’ve been studying dance with John and Maria for 20 years. I buy a 30-​day unlimited card most months of the year and usually take 10 – 15 classes a month. That’s a lot of plies! These classes are good for anyone, no matter what age, shape, size, or level of ability. The dance studio converts easily into a performance space, and once a month the dancer-​students put on a potluck/​cabaret that is always a hoot. Highly recommend.

First rate instruction, small class sizes, plenty of individual attention, and most of all John and Maria make it FUN!
I found this studio about a year ago and my dancing has grown by leaps and bounds since then (see what I did there?) ;)
I’ve been dancing for almost 15 years but hadn’t taken regular classes in several years. I signed up with WSDP and before long was squeezing about 8 classes a week into my already busy schedule, as classes are at convenient times throughout the day. Class sizes are relatively small and each student receives a great deal of personal attention. There is also no attitude here, unlike some of the other studios around NYC. I noticed another review saying that students become like a part of the family here, and it’s completely true.
Highly recommended to theatre professionals and novice enthusiasts alike!

I had a bootcamp class here (with Cindy Lai Fitness) at one of their studios. It was pretty small and had a piano, mirrors on one wall, an AC unit and no windows!
It was really stuffy and we were all sweaty with rosy cheeks after our class. I’ve been to other studios that Cindy rents out for class and generally prefer the ones with windows, but this is NY and you gotta make due!
