Woodz Tattoo

The thing I hate most is when I feel intimidated walking into a tattoo place full of ink-​stained bikers and rockers and feeling like you shouldn’t be there which is why I love this place so much. The whole of the shop front is glass which means the parlour is bright, open and Todd greets everyone who comes into the place.
I went in one afternoon with a vague idea that I wanted a peacock feather design on my wrist. When I arrived the next morning for my appointment, he had designed me a beautiful piece (the favourite of my 5 tattoos!) and took the time and care to make sure I was happy with it and totally comfortable throughout the process.
The parlour itself is lovely with loads of traditional Maori and Thai tattoo art on the walls, portfolios and presentation books to browse through and Sky Movies playing un-​intrusively in the corner of the room. I had a great chat with Todd while he was doing my tattoo and once it was finished he took a picture of it for his portfolio.
Next time I’m in New York I will definitely pop back to see how he’s doing (and maybe to inked again!)
