If you want to get ROBBED go to this office, they will sure waste your time and money. I hate this place. Everyone is rude… the person that answers the phone is incompetent and doesn’t have any knowledge on how to run a front desk or an appointment book. The DR’s suck and no one can ever answer your questions. They are only out to get paid and not provide too notch service! Who is in charge of this place… because it needs to be CLOSED! Stay far away! This place deserves NO STARS!

I have been a patient here for two years and every time I walk out SO angry. The wait times average 45 minutes. Yes, you read that right. And I almost NEVER see the same person twice. The ONLY REASON I continue going here is bc my insurance limits me so greatly to who is actually in my network. I would not recommend them unless your insurance is as limiting as mine.

Yesterday’s appointment for regular cleaning was great. The dental aide took fast no discomfort x-​rays. The hygienist cleaned my teeth while explaining it all, very assuring. The doctor also gave very detailed comforting explanations. Billing rep Michelle was friendly, chatty, and nice. His practice continues its winning ways. Lobby has NetFlix & large comfortable chairs though few wait but 2mins.

Just went in for my six months check up! Upon arrival, I was immediately escorted into the hygienist’s chair. Ella was friendly and warm. She cleaned, polished and flossed my teeth to the utmost detail and was gentle while doing so. I took a few X-​rays and my dentist, Dr. Kim arrived promptly afterwards for my exam. She was kind and answered all my annoying questions about daily dental hygiene. She examined my teeth and notified me that I had a small cavity. She even took the liberty of showing me the cavity on the X-​rays and how to stray away from future ones. Dr. Kim is one of the best dentists I have ever had! I had a wonderful time at Yorkville Dental and I booked my future appointment for my filling. Fast, convenient with the loveliest staff! Can’t wait to return!

I just called this place to make an appointment for a dental cleaning and the exact response was «we don’t have an appointment for cleaning» after I gave my insurance details. When I went on to ask if they had availability for other appointments, the person on the other end had the nerve to say yes and that their hygienists were busy with other appointments. I figured then I should ask for an annual checkup appointment, somehow the person was willing to check the schedule then she changed her mind again once she realized that she would be trapped to give me an appointment that «wasn’t available» before. Whoever is managing this place needs to closely look at who is answering the phones as this is beyond ridiculous! I’m changing my provider immediately and not bothering with this joke of an operation…

BEWARE!
Regularly use a high quality but also expensive dentist. Because I need to watch costs and have dental insurance, in order to try to save money, I went to Yorkville Dental (one of the dental insurance designated dentists) for a cleaning. The hygienist was nice but did only limited work and it seemed that necessary and usual steps (including any tooth polishing) was NOT done. I had assumed that those missing usual steps had been postponed because she informed me that I needed periodontal scaling and root planing, and Yorkville Dental would apply to my dental insurer to see if they would cover such work. I assumed that the missing steps would be performed with the other work. .
I asked about what would be my estimated out of pocket cost for the periodontal scaling and root planing ASSUMING my dental insurance covered such work. After supposedly checking my insurance, Yorkville Dental gave me a figure. I noted that I would be away and the work, if approved, could not commence until December.
While away I received several calls from Yorkville Dental informing me that my Dental Insurance Company had approved the work. Fortunately. I could not return the calls and did not schedule a followup visit, since when I returned home and carefully looked at the Dental Authorization written notice I had received, I saw that my out of pocket cost would be more than 25 Times (2500%) the estimate I was given. Even assuming that there was a misunderstanding and the estimate stated to me was only for one quadrant, although work was needed on all four quadrants, my out of pocket cost still would be almost 7 times (700%) higher than the estimate as so adjusted.
But the situation is Worse: when I called my regular dentist, I learned that his charge for the periodontal scaling and root planing (with no insurance) would be LESS than my out of pocket cost (after insurance) from Yorkville Dental.
When I called Yorkville Dental today to discuss both the inadequate cleaning and the enormous difference between the estimate given and the cost, they told me that I should have complained about the below standard cleaning at the time of the first visit. Interestingly they did not deny that the hygienist might have eliminated usual steps – but said that she might do so «for the good of the patient». Even IF that were so, and I believe the reason was timesaving and profits only, she failed to notify me that she was not doing the polishing nor of any other steps she eliminated. As for the enormous cost differences, they claimed that they could not tell what my insurance would pay – forgetting that not only did they supposedly checked my insurance before giving me the estimate but I have a large and one of the most common insurance carrier policies and periodontal scaling and root planing is a common procedure – a combination that they must frequently encounter, maybe weekly or even daily.

While other reviewers may have had a positive experience, my take away from being a patient at YD is not good.
Yes, Rose the hygienist was very competent and very empathetic. The dentist I saw was equally competent but not overly personable. I need additional work and have been waiting SINCE JULY to have YD get the required paperwork to my insurance company. It is now October.
When I repeatedly call to follow up I’m told that it’s the fault of the insurance company. Buck passing is neither professional nor attractive.
I’m in pain and it is now October. Need I say more?

DO NOT GO HERE! Central Dental on 44^th is part of this racket. I went here after my dental plan changed as my dentist of 17 years was no longer in plan. After not having a cavity in years all of a sudden I was told I had a cavity. I asked to look at the x-​ray, which was small and not very detailed. She assured me she was POSITIVE it was a cavity. I was very suspicious so I left and went to a REAL dentist. He walked me through the x-​ray and assured me there was NO CAVITY there. They were willing to drill a perfectly good tooth just to make a few bucks. And I asked the dentist how long she had been practicing — she said since 2009. It was a LIE — she had a facebook page showing her college graduation date and start of dental school was 2009.

This practice is patient and competent.

Going to the dentist makes me extremely anxious. I always have two hypotheses going in – 1) the needle will cause me extreme pain and 2) that I will be diagnosed with horrible gum disease. I decided to go to YD bc it’s a few blocks from where I live and a short bus/​cab ride from where I work. I pretty much am filled with uncontrollable anxiety before each visit.
However, everyone at YD is friendly, from the front desk to the dental assistants and the doctors. And, as another reviewer noted, appts are indeed honored. I’m still super tense the entire time, but my visits are nowhere near as traumatic as I envision. I even had a root canal here during my 2^nd visit and I didn’t feel an ounce of pain. I will be getting a crown soon and I hope that my visit to the dentist will be far and few in between afterwards. Highly recommend YD!

I just can’t say enough about this dental practice. In all the time I have been a patient of Dr. Kim, Dr. from Filipinas I have yet to have any difficulties or complaints. They are amazing dentists who always has treated me courteously and professionally. Dr. Kim and Dr. from Filipinas and their staff are not only warm and friendly people but very talented. I got my dental veneers yesterday and I can’t be more happy about them. I strongly recommend Yorkville Dental Care practice for your dental needs, if anyone is looking for excellent dental work. I guarantee that you will love this practice as much as I do.

I chose this place for its location but despite the convenience of it being in the neighborhood, the overall experience has been very disappointing. First of all the space there feels very dirty and is not well kept. The examination areas are wide open and there is no privacy while you get your dental care. The front desk staff is constantly forgetting to follow up on things for me including appointments with their oral surgeon. The techs are very young, often times joking around with each other while working on you making the environment seem very unprofessional. The last two hygienists I had were both very mean and were actually scolding me like I was a child for missing my prior appointment for a cleaning. Lastly the dentists are just as bad as the rest of them too. The last dentist I had from there, Dr. Melanie Kim, drove the drill in to the side of my cheek and my tongue on one visit. I have never had that happen to me before — and she did not apologize either. Now that I’m done with my root canal, I will be looking for a new dentist, this place overall is a horrible establishment.

I have been going there since Sept /​October 2014. I need extensive work done and have tried to be as patient as possible with all of their administration problems but now it has actually turned into a nightmare with the work I am getting done.
First it started with trying to get a treatment plan which the office manager Joffrey send in to my insurance for pre-​approval. I spent about 4 months acting as the middle man trying to get additional information from Yorkville Dental which was needed in order for my insurance to cover some of my work. I kid you not when I say I had to call them over 50 times. In the end they didn’t supply what was needed and my insurance denied me the benefit so I needed to pay out of pocket.
I agreed to pay for anything my insurace wouldn’t pay and asked to proceed with the treatment. Both the office manager Joffrey and Dr. From who was to perform my cosmetic work got into a disagreement on which oral surgeon I should see (both are surgeons at Yorkville) to have an implant. I took Dr. Froms advice and got one implant, and a temporary bridge over it until the implant is healed (3 – 4 months) then I would place permanent crowns. I paid for this at Dr. Froms Midtown West office which was $ 300 cheaper than Yorkville on the UES.
They also charged me for the temporary bridge which most other dentist do not. The day I went in for my implant surgery at Yorkville I spent about 30 minutes during the surgery and after they had to place the temporary bridge. Well it didn’t fit so they kept filing the bridge down trying to make it fit. They spent 4 and a half hours after my surgery sticking the bridge in and out of my mouth while I was bleeding in pain. The answer was to give me more Novocain. I had about six shots after the surgery and in the end they drilled the bridge so much it broke.
So they made me some crappie one in the office (not from the lab) and said they will send a new one to be made at the lab. About a week or so later my new lab made temporary bridge was in and Dr. From was out of the office on sick leave so some young female Asian dentist was to place it in my mouth. Once again the bridge doesn’t fit and this time the dentist says «well I have to drill your teeth down to make it fit» and I said «I wore a bridge for 10 years there that fit fine, don’t’ you think it’s the way it’s made? A bridge can be made again my teeth don’t grow back» she refused on sending it back to the lab and told me to wait for Dr. From to come back.
Two weeks later when Dr. From was back and I told him what happened he said «you were absolutely right we are not drilling your teeth anymore». So he insisted on fixing the bridge until he made it fit but it had a whole in it and looked horrible. So I asked for my money back and said I would like to go find a new dentist as everything with them has been a nightmare. The next day I stopped in to see the office Manager Joffrey to get my money back for the temporary bridge, he looked at it and said he was so sorry that I was going through this and he insisted he would make me a new bridge from the lab that looked normal and did the job and in the meantime he would make me one to wear in the office so I agreed. I walked out about 10 minutes later grabbed a croissant and coffee and the bridge broke. I went back and he made me a new one in the office. Two days later it broke again but I just left it until my lab made bridge arrived. I went and had him place the new one in and within a week that one broke as well.
Joffrey agreed to pay me back in full last week and said my card would be refunded the next day. It’s one week later and I haven’t gotten a refund so I called 3 times and waited on hold 30 minutes and spoke to Kevin who said oh yea, I spoke with the billing department and you now have to pay for the lab fees so you’re not getting a full refund. This has been 8 months of hell dealing with everyone in this office I think the only way to have this dealt with is to hire a lawyer. Save yourself the trouble

You might as well go to a free clinic. The rooms are dirty. The hygienists will recommend a «deep cleaning» to charge you for your second.
The Dr. I saw next had AWFUL breath. After a «you may or may not need» diagnosis, she proceeded to send me to a rapist in a cheap suit & a fake Gucci belt who attempted price gouged procedures that «may or not» be necessary.
I feel taken advantage of and I’m reporting them to my insurance company. Save your time, energy & smile…

5 stars for my favorite dentist so far — Dr From. (Don’t make fun of his name, he’s the man!) He knows his sht and makes you feel comfortable. I have been going here for a while but i think he is new as well as most of the staff. The annoying receptionist woman with attitude has been replaced by a younger friendly girl, Crystal, i believe her name is. I definitely feel better about this place now that i did before.

I was wary about coming here after reading so many terrible reviews. I haven’t seen a dentist for an extended period of time, so I really just wanted to get a quick cleaning, while hoping that they wouldn’t find any dental issues…
When I arrived, I filled out some paperwork and got called in several minutes later. The dental hygienist was super friendly and got to work right away. She spent quite awhile cleaning my teeth and I thank her for that. After that, I was whisked away to another part of the office to have x-​rays performed. A little while later, the dentist came to look at the scans and mentioned I would probably have to get a quick procedure performed. I wasn’t surprised, since I don’t take care of my teeth as well as I should. I made an appointment to come back a week later.
My second visit consisted of a bit more waiting. I got called in within minutes of arriving, but I ended up sitting in the chair for about 30 minutes before the dentist came. The actual procedure lasted maybe 15 – 20 minutes.
Everyone here is pretty friendly. They seem to enjoy working with each other and crack jokes all the time, which is nice I suppose. The receptionists sometimes looked discombobulated, but maybe I was just there at a bad time. I have mixed feelings about this place, but I would probably come back here if I had to.

Not the worst dentist I’ve ever been to but pretty much a chop shop. The hygienist was nice and gentle but the cleaning was not very thorough. Leaving the place, my teeth certainly don’t feel very clean. The x-​rays were fine, uncomfortable like always.
However, it was the dentist (young Asian girl) that made the experience bad. First, she broke an instrument in my wife’s mouth. Though it didn’t cut her, it left a sizable abrasion that the dentist didn’t bother to treat, instead telling her to go home and put ice on it.
After that the dentist was obviously shaken because she didn’t really even bother to check my teeth. When I told her that a tooth was cutting my tongue 4−5x per year, she told me that it was me biting it (which I assured her it wasn’t) and touched it twice but didn’t do anything. So I left it because I just wanted to leave, went to my office and shredded a tissue by running it across the tooth.
No, we won’t be going back.

This place screwed up BIGTIME when doing teeth whitening for her and caused her some of the worst pain she’s ever experienced. Be very careful with this place.

Attention: stop right away if you are considering this dental clinic! They basically created problems in patients’ teeth in order to rub your money! Stay away if you still love your teeth! Lastly, if you have to go there, Do NOT, I repeat, DO NOT let this Dr. JESSICA M. GORELIK touch your teeth!!!

I have been so lucky in my life to have a clean dental bill of health… until now. I went in for a routine cleaning and was told I had a cavity… eek! It was my first ever at 28 years old… so I scheduled an appointment for a filling. A week later I went in and had the filling done without any problems. BUT a little over a month later it fell out. i went back to have it redone and this is where the problems began…
When the doctor went to numb me she did not give me enough so I felt pain. I let her know and she gave me another shot… this time it was too much and my entire mouth and throat went numb. I was left alone for at least 20 minutes barely able to breathe and panicking! I let her know I was scared because I was having trouble breathing. She patted my shoulder and said I would be fine. Trusting her I laid back and tried to relax. Then she started redoing the filling…
Once she was done I could not eat solid food for THREE weeks. I went back in and she tried to fix it by filing the filling down. One week later I was still in pain… even worse than before.
I ended up going to a different dentist two days ago. They completely redid the filling and by the time the numbness was gone and I was able to eat… I had ZERO pain! I can eat solid foods again! My new dentist took photos of the filling I had done at Yorkville… It was cracked and falling off AGAIN! When he removed the filling he said it completely crumbled. It wasn’t even bonded together. AND THEN he took another photo once the filling was removed showing when I had the first cavity done she had drilled into my clean and healthy tooth next to the cavity and deformed another tooth and never fixed it! RIDICULOUS! I STRONGLY advise anyone looking at Yorkville Dental to try someplace else.
The other reviews regarding the office being late with appointments was so true. I showed up to two of my appointments… one I had to wait 30 minutes… the other they sent me home for an hour and a half. I had left work early that day so this was extremely annoying.
I am so happy that I changed dentists. I can eat solid foods again without pain and I feel comfortable not scared sitting in the chair. When I called to let them know I wanted the X-​rays sent to my new dentist they were not pleased… needless to say they were rude and condescending. They told me the dentist was a great dentist and my teeth were the problem… the same teeth that have never had any issues until now!
