Yung Wing Elementary School – P.S. 124

So this school, in the heart of Chinatown, is where I went to school for 7 years … Kindergarten through 6^th grade (elementary school went thru 6^th back then).
They had just started a gifted program (yeah yeah yeah … I’m smart, W/​E) at the school and had kids from all over coming in for it so there was a big diversity amongst my classmates, not just from one race/​class/​neighborhood/​etc.
From what I recall I had a fun time back then and learned alot.
I remember playing stoop-​ball in the back area, cartoons on a big screen in the auditorium during the 2^nd half of lunches when it was raining outside, holiday performances, graduation, etc.
When I returned to the building for the first time after I had finished going to school here it was many years later and everything, such as the water fountains, seemed much lower to the ground than from what my memory had … guess I must have grown upwards, and maybe up too. :-)
I’m glad to be part of their first ever gifted program 7-​year kids.
