I rarely leave Unilocal reviews but my experience with Zeitlin Optik warrants praise … I was referred here after a pair of designer sunglasses were squashed (literally one of the «arms» was off and had to be re-​soldered back to the hinge on the frame). After taking a look, Rachel was able to determine pretty quickly that they’d be able to fix and gave me a flat rate for the repair which was done promptly and without issue! Will definitely be back for any future eyeglass /​sunglass needs. Thanks again!

I stopped by to adjust a pair of Barton Perreria’s that I have. The highly professional staff sprung to action, gave good advice on the fit, how they should look on me and sent me away satisfied. I will certainly consider purchasing my next pair here — they have a terrific, stylish collection of frames others lack as well.

Wow! I wish I had found Zeitlin before I purchased glasses somewhere else – making sure people can see comfortably is more important to them than making a profit. Anyone who struggles with really serious visual impairment knows that the tiniest adjustments can be critical to achieving clear vision, and I would especially recommend Zeitlin to those who have high prescriptions or unusual corrections – they will take the time to get it right.
I got my new glasses from a chain optician earlier this week, switching from a plastic pad-​less bridge to a nosepad configuration, and was having a terrible time with slippage from the weight of the larger lenses. The internet suggested a «saddle» nosepad that stretches between the two attachment points to distribute weight over the entire top of the nose rather than just the sides, but I wasn’t going to be able to make it to the chain optician before closing time any night this week and had to look for a shop close to work that I could visit on my lunch break. Unilocal suggested Zeitlin as the best choice in Midtown, and the staff immediately understood what my problem was and the solution that I wanted to try. It took about three minutes for them to screw in the new piece, and the difference in comfort and clarity is amazing.
The best part? They refused to accept any payment for the parts and labor, gave me a new cleaning cloth, and the owner personally came out to say that I’m welcome to stop by if I ever need adjustments. I will definitely come back to Zeitlin the next time I need new frames or lenses… this kind of customer service is a rare treat in this city!

I’ve been wearing glasses for the last 20+ years of my life, and I had recently moved into the area for work and was looking for a place to make a new pair. I stumbled across Zeitlin Optik on Unilocal,and it is the best optical shop I have ever been to by far.
Their selection is stunning, they have any style to suit any taste and then some. The staff (Rachel, Alberto and William) are so incredibly patient and helpful with giving suggestions and helping me decide on the frame that best suit my taste. I felt so comfortable there that I wish I could’ve hung around all day trying on frames. The speed with which they fulfilled my order also deserves mention, I’ve so far made 2 pairs of lenses with them, the first was ready for collection the next morning, and the second set was ready on the evening of the same day.
But the best part of my experience definitely came after the purchase of my glasses. I was unfortunate enough to get a scratch on of my lenses a month or so after buying my glasses, and I went back asking if it could be buffed out by any chance. What they did for me instead was to provide me with a brand new lens instead, free of charge, within the same day. Needless to say, I was extremely touched by this gesture.
I highly recommend this store to anyone looking to make a pair of glasses. It’s truly been one of the best retail experiences I have ever had.

My experience at Zeitlin Optik was fantastic, and I highly recommend if you are in the market to purchase glasses. I discovered the store from a Unilocal search, and want to return the favor for other potential customers. Rachel and her team were very helpful and patient, as well as extremely thorough and professional. I was promised new lenses for free if I came back with an updated prescription within 30 days of buying my glasses, and the company absolutely kept its word. If you need or want new glasses ASAP, this is a great choice because not only did Rachel offer to rush my initial order, she replaced my lenses very quickly when I came back. She also followed up with me via email and the phone to make sure my buying experience went perfectly smooth, and communication among her and her staff was exceptional. I am glad that I chose Zeitlin Optik and feel welcome to stop in if my glasses need a tweaking. This store understands the importance of exemplary customer service and that makes me happy to take this time to offer my positive opinion!

Rachel does an amazing job at carrying on the family name and reputation of exquisite service. She is very attentive, caring, kind, and detail oriented. Last month I bought custom made frames and I couldn’t be happier.

I’ve been going to Zeitlin Optik for years– first, while it was run by Marc, and I’ve continued to go since his daughter Rachel took it over. Shopping there is always an absolute pleasure. There’s a lot of eyeglass stores in the neighborhood, but this one is by far the best to deal with, and always has a unique selection to choose from. I’m really picky, and Rachel is super patient in bringing me style after style without a complaint! I always leave with something I love. Will continue to make this my optic go-​to!

Best service I’ve ever had when buying glasses. They have a great selection of stylish and quality frames and a ton of patience to help you choose. After purchase service is great with adjustments, etc. Totally different experience than the national chains.

Wow what a great experience today! I’ve just been to too many high end optical stores that just wanna sell sell sell. Well not here. They helped me pick out the perfect pair of frames and I’m real picky! Ask for Rachel she’s a marvelous young lady that really was able to help me. I’ve been buying glasses from Marc Zeitlin for about 15 years. Marc is a man who brings a missionary-​like zeal to his work, and it shows: His lenses are outstanding. And it’s not just me who thinks so: Two different eye doctors who’ve examined me have commented – unprompted and spontaneously – on the high quality of my lenses.
Zeitlin’s frames are first caliber, too. No doubt a chain store will have 700 frames to pick from – and 600 will be junk. Here you’ll find a very well edited selection, where the quality and style more than make up for the quantity.
Service is professional, personable, and accommodating. I myself am fairly indecisive when it comes to frame selection; the patience exhibited by Zeitlin + staff is otherworldly. If you need 4 hours to try and retry frames, they seem to be fine with it.
On a related note: I’d also characterize the service style as leisurely. This is a store where chatting and storytelling is as much a part of the process as getting fitted for new glasses is. If you are a person who just wants to zip in and zip out and keep strictly to business, you need to tell them upfront that your time is limited.
Not surprisingly, all this skill and taste and handholding comes with a price. But I guarantee you, this is money that is VERY well spent.
