Zhong Hua Flushing-Chinatown Shuttle Van Service

Good for those who want to go from one Chinatown to another. Manhattan to Flushing for 3 dollars (2÷5÷2016) Don’t expect a nice clean über pool type of deal here. This is more like a car pool with loud and rude old asian aunties and uncles.
Drivers also like to over pack the vans even if there arent any more seats left. You may find yourself sitting on a plastic kids chair in the middle aisle, because you know how Asians are. everyday we hustling hustling
I usually don’t look out the window too often either, these drivers are pretty scary to watch at times. But I still think it’s a quick way to get to Queens as long as you don’t hit traffic on the BQE and LIE along the way.

Very good transportation alternative to the subway system to get from Flushing to Chinatown. It sure beats going down the stairs, waiting for train, hoping to catch an express Number 7 train to Times Square and then making another transfer to get to lower Manhattan Chinatown.
It essentially took me about 40 mins. Bus left as soon as it filled up. They have covers on the seats that they can change when it gets dirty. And those covers serve as advertisement as well when you are on the bus.
No non-​sense transportation. I always take a peek at what seats are available before I actually pay the driver. If you have more than 1 person. see what seats are available. If you don’t like the seat offerings, just kindly step off the bus and wait for the next one. There is usually one right behind it and they generally fill up quickly.
Try to have exact change and don’t flash large bills like a $ 50 or $ 100 bill. If that is the smallest denomination you have, you probably need a call a limo to chauffeur you to Chinatown.
The rates have gone up to $ 3 per ride effective June 1, 2015.
Enjoy the views while on the bus. You should be able to catch glimpses of the Brooklyn Bridge, One World Trade, Flushing Meadows Tennis Centre and of course the lovely sites of Chinatown and Flushing.

Good job van #95. Your sign says you’re going to Brooklyn, but low and behold. After taking my $ 4 and start driving, I decided to take a nap. When I wake up, we’re on the Manhattan bridge going into Chinatown. I politely ask him a few times in Cantonese is this the Brooklyn bus?. He completely ignores me. No, it is not the case that I did not ask loud enough or in the wrong dialect. When others asked other questions in Cantonese, he would answer. Most drivers are pretty reliable. This one. Just sad.

Efficient and inexpensive $ 2.50 and 25 minutes later you have gone from Manhattan to Flushing Chinatown! Very nice bargain and fast and easy.

Sat on a plastic tofu bucket on the ride there. All seats filled again on the ride home!
The driver threw down a padded mat on the dirty floor of the bus this time. Not sure if Im extremely lucky to just make it in the nick of time or unlucky to never ever get a seat.

Ahem…and a tiny little blurb about the shuttle service: indeed gets you to and from in a timely manner that is quicker than the subway.

Costs only $ 2.75 to go from Manhattan’s Chinatown to Flushing, NY (about 25 minutes without traffic). The shuttle is not exactly clean but you’ll have noprobs if ever ridden in a shuttle/​taxi/​bus in an Asian country — meaning atmosphere as well as types of riders.
The pick-​up/​stop is at the corner of Division and Bowery in Chinatown, by a Citibank and a row of city bike shares. The driver will fill up the shuttle before leaving so you may leave right away or wait a bit, depending on ridership.
Note we needed a way to get to the U.S. Open so I’m glad the L-​bros found this shuttle service, probably the best deal on our trip!

Tried it for the first time from Flushing to Manhattan. Took about 40 minutes, during the heart of the pm rush hour. Wasn’t bad, just bumpy because of all the pot holes. Driver didn’t drive overly crazy or dangerously. Easier for going to the LES than taking the 7 to midtown then going to Canal st. $ 2.75 cash. They give change for small bills.
Flushing pickup location is on 41^st ave just west of main st.

Please just take my money so I can crawl over the orange and red grocery bags littering the isle to be in the back of the mini bus.
I always want to shout «Just shut UP!» because I hate listening to the scream annoying middle age ladies who just can’t stop talking about nothing at the top of their lungs into their cell phones!
Sometimes the seats are not the cleans and the drivers are not the safest or cautious.
But is the #7 train to Time Square any better or the #6 downtown?
So if you have to get from Flushing to Division St. in Chinatown fast without a car, this is the best deal so far.
Tip: Try not to be the last one to squeeze on or you’ll be sitting in the isle will a kiddie chair (very uncomfortable and not too safe if the drive short stops).
Tip: Avoid the hump seat. (That is the seat over the hump of the rear wheel)

This Chinatown-​Flushing van service is always timely and efficient. The only time it may alter is when there’s traffic. But luckily each driver has a 2 way radio to update the traffic progress so other drivers know where to detour. Chinatown pick up location is at Chatham square and Flushing is by the small parking lot municipal.

— don’t be shocked when the driver pulls over right before the highway to pick up one to two passengers. They will pull out a little chair and sit right by the stairs. It’s normal (to them). Extra $$?

Cheap! Fast! And even entertaining!
Well, it’s only entertaining as long as you’re not the one sitting on a tiny plastic kiddie stool in the aisle. That’s what happens to the last ones on the bus.
For $ 2.75, you get a really quick trip into Chinatown (say under 30 minutes, compared to over twice that if you take trains from Main St.). Love it!
The bus picks up in front of the parking lot across the street from Starbucks (by Flushing Library, where Main St. and Roosevelt Ave. meet). Seems like as soon as one leaves, another is waiting to load up with more people.
We got there just before 10AM, and when we were on we saw that the line had swelled. A friend had given me good advice to arrive before 10… so I’m passing that on to you.

Save yourself the pain and labor of the subway and take the Chinatown bus.
For only an extra quarter over the regular metrocard subway fare ($ 2.75), you’ll be on your way from Chinatown to Chinatown in style.
I believe the last bus runs till maybe 11PM? But don’t quote me on that one.
I can’t tell you what the experience is like for non-​ethnic chinese riders… as i am an ethnically chinese rider… who also speaks mandarin and cantonese… so… i’m no help on that front.
However, if you want to get off at any location on the route from Chinatown to Chinatown, tell the driver and he’ll let you off. Or tell someone who speaks English and Chinese to tell the driver in Chinese… and then he’ll let you off.
Save yourself the extra time and hassle with the subway, and take the bus. Try to get the taller seats, as theres more of a headrest for you to get comfortable on and take a nap.
If you’re lucky, you’ll have either a smooth ride and you can nap the whole way, or you can make oogly eyes at a cute Chinese baby on board. If you’re unlucky… lets hope youre not completely out of luck and you get in an accident. I’m sure that Chinese baby hasn’t exhausted his pot of luck yet! Use some of his. But more likely, you’ll be stuck next to some smelly sweaty man who decided to take off his shoes.

These buses are constantly shuttling from Manhattan Chinatown to Flushing Chinatown. After a bus has finished sitting with open doors waiting for riders to fill it up, it drives off and a new empty bus rolls up in a matter of minutes (or seconds). It’s almost scary how efficient this operation is – modern day Chinese clockwork, to be sure.
There are twenty passenger seats.
I fancy parking myself in the five-​seat row in the back with friends. It offers, for one, the best vantage point to catch the highlight moment of the Zhong Hua experience: the last boarded customer taking a seat in the middle of the aisle on a puny ghetto holding chair clearly designed for toddlers.

Despite the tackiness of this seating practice, the bus ride itself is actually pretty first-​rate. The route is not consistent as far as I have observed, the driver perhaps opting for the fastest route given the weather and traffic conditions. It almost always beats any feasible Chinatown-​Flushing subway route by a good 15 to 30 minutes and has the additional appeal of being completely above ground for more favorable cell coverage. The journey is pretty smooth, and no matter the weather, the temperature inside of the bus tends to be properly regulated. The seats are somewhat small, so it definitely helps to share space with people you know. Better hope that you’re not sandwiched in a window seat next to a properly American-​sized person.
I’d encourage anyone looking to get to Flushing from Manhattan to give this a shot for $ 2.75, have a ball with some cool kid friends in the back like old times, and roll the dice in seeing if anything amusing happens to the poor soul saddled on the tacky chair in the middle.

$ 2.75 for a pretty speedy ride from Chinatown to Flushing? Not too shabby.
A couple friends and I met up at Division and Bowery, where the Citi Bikes were all docked. We got on the short white bus, waited momentarily until the bus was completely full and then bam, we sped off to Flushing. Driver does not waste time and we got there in about 20 minutes. However, once we actually got to Main Street, the bus began making a number of arbitrary stops, until we made a final stop right before Roosevelt Ave. So it doesn’t seem like the shuttle drops you off where the subway stop would, but fairly close.
Pick-​up spot in Flushing is on the Northwest corner of 41^st and Main Street. There will be a line of white buses, just make sure you get on the right one. Some go back to Manhattan, some go to Brooklyn. Even if you don’t speak Chinese, just make sure to ask the driver. Don’t want to be stuck on a shuttle to the wrong borough.
Overall, yeah, you might get stuck with some loud passengers, the driver may or may not drive like a maniac, and there might be some smells you have never smelled before, but this is the best way to get to Flushing from Manhattan, especially while the 7 train is under construction on weekends. Make sure to have exact or close to exact change to speed up the process. In all, just enjoy the wonder as you’re magically transported from one place with a ton of Asian people to another place with somehow more Asian people. Cheers!

From Manhattan, it picks you up on the corner of Division and Bowery, on the same block as Confucius Plaza and across from the bridal shop. Look for a nondescript white short bus.
You pay $ 2.75 each way, cold hard cash to the driver when you board. Feel free to bargain but speak some Chinese but WHY WOULD YOU IT’S $ 2.75 AND I AM JUDGING. Bus won’t start going till you board. You can yell at the diver en route to drop you off on whatever street is along the way, otherwise the last stop is 41^st and Main Street, in front of the Queens library and dead-​set in Chinatown.
Driver goes lightspeed (dude, don’t I know you from somewhere? The Fung Wah maybe?) and gets you there in ~20 minutes. Windows look like they will give way at any moment. BEST PART — I was the last to board and got the honor of sitting in the back. In a makeshift seat. On top of a plastic barrel and a block of wood. Dude in front of me was picking his ear and flicking the remains around the entire time.

Chinatown pick-​up: leaves from the intersection Divison St & Bowery, near the rack of Citibikes.
Flushing pick-​up: leaves from 41^st Ave, west of the intersection of 41^st and Main St. There are a bunch of vans parked on the north side of the street.
The vans leave whenever they fill up, which is generally every 10 – 15 minutes. The entire trip takes around 25 minutes, and you can yell at the driver to make a stop where you want to get off. Now I can justify going to Flushing every week to stuff myself with good Chinese food…

It was tricky finding out where you could board the bus back to Flushing (thank you Unilocal for listing the cross streets!), but as many other reviewers have stated, $ 2.75 for a one way trip to Flushing is an awesome deal.
Other Perks:
— You’re always guaranteed a seat.
— There’s A/​C.
— There’s no awkward crotch up in your face like when you’re seated on the 7 train.
If you feel like your life is in danger because of the way the driver’s handling the van then put on a seat belt.
Oh wait. Actually, I don’t remember if there were seat belts because I fell asleep.
I’ve dealt with taxi drivers in South Korea before and THOSE taxi rides were quite possibly the most terrifying car rides I ever encountered.
Example: In South Korea, the red light still means «go» and the van driver for the place I worked for would keep falling asleep behind the wheel. One time, he fell asleep, crashed onto the sidewalk and hit a pole. Great.
Compared to the shuttle van drivers for Zhong Hua… pfftttt.

Chinatown van that gets you to flushing. This van takes you from the Chinatown in Manhattan to Main Street Flushing. The stop in manhattan is along division street across from a bridal store and right next to confucius plaza. They sometimes make several stops along main street but the last stop is Main Street in Flushing near the LIRR/​7 train station across from the library right near that Big bowl restaurant. This is a traveling secret apparently. I used to think it was shady but after having been on the van about 100 times at all times of the day and at night it is just as safe as getting into any other car. You can usually see people lining up in front of these vans.
During the big storm this was the quickest and most reliable way for me to get to Manhattan to go to work and to see my family. The MTA was shut down and they were not allowing cars into the city but these passenger vans were able to get into the city. I did expect some kind of inflation but it was the same price $ 2.75 each way. they usually increase the fare in accordance to any MTA fare hike so that may suck but it does provide an essential service and is still an affordable alternative to getting on the train when you have to deal with delays or track work on the weekends.
During the MTA strike they were even giving rides into midtown. It helps to speak Chinese but they do speak some English. Plop down $ 2.75 and you got yourself a ride to Queens. Same price for everyone– adults and children. Don’t be the jerk that gives them a big bill like a twenty or a 10 dollar bill so everyone is waiting. have exact change in hand or 3 bills.
Depending on traffic and rush hour the ride may take 35 min to an hour. But the drivers have a nifty way of communicating with each other on their walkie talkies so that they are advised of traffic up ahead. they sometimes detour into brooklyn to avoid traffic from the williamsburg bridge but you will still end up in Manhattan eventually.
Just like a bus there are no seatbelts and you cannot stand but otherwise you are guaranteed a seat.
Im not crazy about their cloth seats but some of them have disposable covers and it is clean enough. they may not let you bring drinks on board because they are afraid you will spill it. Keep it in the bag. So don’t try to walk in with your bubble tea cuz they will tell you to drink it before getting on.
The only annoying thing is having to sit in the van and there is that one person who is speaking loudly into their phone on the whole ride.
If you are coming from Chinatown and visiting friends in Flushing or vice versa this is a quick and easy way to get there.

The locals tell me Flushing is far more authentic now than Manhattan-​CT, so for what its worth, I agree. The ride was super smooth and comfortable, albeit in a short bus. Hell, why not?!

This is BY FAR the best way to get from Chinatown to Chinatown; if I had known about this shuttle years ago, I probably would’ve saved myself many a long, unsavory experience on the 7 Train. Unfortunately, nobody told me about this thing until last week.
I blame you.
The shuttle doesn’t take your MetroCard, but if time is money, the 45 minutes you save yourself is well worth a measly $ 2.50. No, it’s not the cleanest or most comfortable ride. Yes, the driver might secretly have a death wish. Yes, you and the rest of your mostly white group of friends might get dirty looks for being the only people talking as everyone else tries to sleep.
But with any luck, that guy won’t sneeze on you repeatedly, and there’ll be a cute Chinese baby to make faces at so the half-​hour ride is over before you know it.
Oh, and remember: the cool kids sit in the back of the bus and stick gum in Jane’s hair.
