Established in 2013.

In 1989 Gary started his business shortly after marrying his wife of 22 years. He had one saw and trimmed a few friend’s and relatives small trees. He used the money to buy a chain saw and gradually built his company up from his earnings. He is a Certified Arborist and has a wide range of knowlege of the many trees in the Bay Area. Based on the climate and seasons, Gary can advise you on the best times to trim, plant, feed and maintain your trees in optimal, beautiful, and healthy condition.

Excellent job! On-​time arrival, took great care not to damage/​mar newly refinished deck, protected plants & bushes from damage, and did a thorough clean up. All this along with super tree trimming earn a 5 star rating. Seeing Gary at work was fascinating, like watching a trapeze artist who is also a tree-​trimming artist.

Gary from Best Tree Service did a fantastic job with our trees! My favorite Tulip Magnolia looks beautiful and graceful, my orange tree has returned to manageable and easy to reach, and all of the other trees look wonderful. They came at convenient times for estimates and for trimming service, left my yard cleaner than it was before they arrived and even went across the fence to my neighbor’s yard to retrieve trimmings, with prior arrangement and permission. Very satisfied all the way around! This is our second time using Gary and his team and we are satisfied return customers.

Not sure why some people expect Gary to roll a red carpet for them. Truth to be told, the guy is straight forward, no fuzz, just gets the job done and I mean DONE with every sense of the word. My tree had literally wrapped around a power line, Gary not only took care of the branch, but made sure the entire tree was done properly and in a manner that would not cause future problems. I appreciate this business style, to the point and done right. As for others complaining about falling branches… what do you expect?! It’s a freaking tree getting trimmed! Gravity only works one way.
Anyway, Gary’s price was more than competitive, it was right. The guy may no say much, but his work speaks volumes; I didn’t expect him to chat away while trimming my tree, I expected him to take care of business, be careful and get the job done. He did it all.
My tree is now looking great, safe and ready for any storm. His crew did an OUTSTANDING job at cleaning up. A+++
P. S. Gary, next time I’ll bring those sodas for your crew without asking you first ;)

This company doesn’t contact surrounding neighbors before they work, nor do they ask permission to access fallen tree limbs on adjacent properties. Lack of planning and communication does not make for good business practices.

Very impressed by Best Tree Service. Was able to speak directly with Gary by phone and by the next day, the job was done. Our tree in our yard was monstrous. Had to do something quick as this tree continued to make a mess. Gary gave a reasonable estimate. He offered to do the job the next day. Gary’s guys showed up and went right to work. The process from start to finish was very professionally. No time was wasted. All was hauled away and nicely cleaned up afterward. Thank goodness I won’t have to worry about this tree for a long time. Thank you Gary!

Quick, hassle free, reasonable price & straightforward in his approach were mentioned earlier. I would have to agree. Gary and his team did a fantastic job taking down a 50′+ Washington Palm in Fremont.
In a nutshell they were on time, did the job and some extra work. The quote was the best one and they stayed within the quote. Would highly recommend Gary and his team.

Based on a referral from our neighbors, we asked Gary from Best Tree Service to give us an estimate for removing a dead 40+ foot Monterey pine tree in our back yard. After looking around a bit, he gave us an estimate that was MORE THAN DOUBLE what other tree services had bid on the job ($ 3200, as opposed to the $ 1400 – 1500 bids we received from two other tree trimming companies), and then dismissively explained that he usually does «high-​end pruning» work, and «wasn’t interested» in taking this kind of «grunt-​work» job. Didn’t even bother leaving a written estimate, and then left without saying anything else.
What a jerk! Not wanting to take a job is one thing, but insulting us with a stupidly over-​priced estimate means that he gets a one-​star review on Unilocal and a posting on my neighborhood blog NOT to call Best Tree Service for any work in the future.

Best Tree Service provided an excellent job removing 18 mature Italian Cypress and two trees that were all at over 15′ tall. Gary came over, gave us a written quote on the spot, arrived the next day and removed them. Gary and his crew left the property as if we had never had the trees and Italian Cypress in the ground. It was a very clean job!
It was also nice that we received a follow up call from Rhya following the completion of the work. She provided excellent customer service showing that they truly care about there customers.
I recommend Best Tree Service to anyone that wants their job done right and at a competitive price.
So, thank you Best Tree Service for a job well done!

If you’re looking for a hard-​working, capable, friendly, and a conscientious tree service provider, Gary and Best Tree service are your best choice. Gary is a complete perfectionist, at what he does. You can tell he loves what he does. His charm and wittiness makes you feel completely comfortable. After the work was done, the trees looked like better versions of themselves. That’s a good measure of his work. The trees were left beautiful. He made sure the cleanup was thorough, and checked with me several times to make sure I was satisfied. I highly recommend this business. The best around!

Gary and his team are very efficient and Gary REALLY knows his stuff. He also has an artistic eye and will leave your trees trimmed and looking good.
We recently had PG&E do a mandatory/​no choice trimming on our tree and it looks horrible. I was embarassed when Gary saw it. When I told him who did it he shook his head…
I highly recommend his services.

We had 14 overgrown trees, over 25′ tall, covered with ivy, surrounding a pool, dropping berries, housing critters, intruding on the neighbor’s side. Gary arrived within hours of my call to give an estimate for topping off all the trees at 10′. He’s short on small talk, gets to the point, knows what he’s doing, will be straight on what to expect, is fully insured, and quotes a fair price. Gary called the night before the job date to confirm, asked for access to the neighbor’s side, arrived on time the next morning, and did not stop working for 4 hours. All overgrowth was trimmed on the neighbor’s side, the side yard completely cleaned when they left. Our side involved cutting, trimming, hauling and cleaning with only a 3′ walkway around the pool. The crew kept up with Gary as the trimming was done, hauling debris to the mulcher out front. Anything that fell in the pool they fished out. Every leaf and twig was gone, the berry stains on the agregate and driveway hosed off, and they even took a leaf blower to the side yard and front of the house before they left. We will not hesitate to call Gary again — although knowing how little room he had to work with I wouldn’t blame him if he didn’t call back!

We had Best Tree Service prune three of our big trees and remove three Japanese Maples that had died from wet roots. Gary came out the same day I called to give us an estimate, and scheduled the work for a few days later. I felt like his prices were fair and his crew did good work.
Gary is clearly very good at what he does. As someone who knows nothing about trees, I could have used a bit more explanation about what was going to be done and why, and what the aftereffects would be (one of our trees bled sap for quite a bit longer than I expected: I would have put down plastic had I known this). That’s not his fault, but it is an area where he could provide even better service than he already does.
All in all, I definitely recommend them.

Just returned home to find a great job done by Gary and Best Tree Service. I have a very large tree in my yard that grows to hang over the street and over my home and garage. They did a marvelous job trimming and thinning the tree so it is still a beautiful tree, but no longer overgrown and dangerous.
I had three quotes that were all very similar, so I can assume that Best Tree Service is normally priced.
I have had this tree serviced by various professional tree trimmers, but I have never been as pleased as I am with the job that was done today.
I heartily recommend his service.

I could not disagree more with a few of the previous posts @ Best Tree Service. You want warm and fuzzy — get a teddy bear.
Gary was awesome — called at 100, was on the job by 200.
100 Foot Pine Tree fell on my roof, over a fence, with other dangerous circumstances. He took care of it all, no further damage to roof or fence. Hauled it all away.
HIGHLY recommend Gary to all of my friends and work associates.
Diamond Certified Independent Business for a reason.
Will call them again — without hesitation — if ever need tree trimming, pruning, or removal!

Quick, hassle free, reasonable price.
To be sure, he is straighforward in his presentation, but that carries over in his work. His no-​nonsense approach translated into a job well done.
Our 45 ft Alder had died. He and his crew arrived on time, got right to work, and efficiently got the job done. They left the wood neatly piled and the yard tidy.
Had they been able to grind the stump the same day and split the wood, I would give the full five stars. Nevertheless, it’s easy to recommend them.

I’m sure that the actual tree’s benefit from having Best Tree Service work on them, but I’ll never get that chance. I didn’t at all mind the fact that they declined to work on my property. The tree is going to be tricky, what with powerlines, fences, and neighbors, not to mention three other large trees. BUT… when I choose someone I usually like to do business with someone who has SOME tact with customers.
Gary, simply looked at the tree, said, «this is going to be hell, I don’t want to work on your tree» and turned and walked out of the yard. A total brush off, no «thanks for calling me», or even a handshake. This type of surly attitude makes me thankful that he DIDN’T want to work on my tree. I’ll take some of the older family owned businesses who have some customer service.
