K-Town BBQ

It has been awhile since I had Korean food – at least a good 10 years. For special occasions, we always end up at either a Japanese or a Chinese restaurant. (We celebrate major occasions a day early to avoid the typical crowd.)
I wanted something different & thought of Korean food, but didn’t know a good restaurant so I turned to Unilocal.Thank God I did.
Seeing diners of Korean descent waiting was very encouraging. The short wait was definitely worth it. The food was great; the service was even better. They were understaffed tonight, but you can’t tell as they were very attentive, constantly asking if we need anything. By constant, I don’t mean nagging or pestering. They pay attention. The minute our water glasses & side dishes were empty, they were there.
If the service and the quality of food do not change, this restaurant is here to stay. I actually hope they will expand as the place was a little small for the demand. I can only imagine Father’s Day tomorrow!
We will definitely come back and will definitely recommend this to our friends and family!

This is by far my favorite all you can eat KBBQ in NorCal. The pork belly, brisket and pork jowl were mad good. I went on a Thursday night and it was pretty busy. I would definitely recommend people come here and grub. I’m coming back for sure.

Nothing but love for K-​Town BBQ. So much love, in fact, that I came here two days in a row. Call me a fatty but hey, my mom wanted Korean BBQ for her birthday the day after I had just gone, so I had to oblige lol.
I came here on a whim based on a friend’s suggestion and I’m so glad I gave K-​Town a try. You can order items a la carte and you of course have the option for all you can eat. There are several tiers to their AYCE menu. For $ 20, the build your own set includes brisket, spicy pork/​chicken, pork belly/​neck and squid. With this option you can add on unlimited $ 3-​$ 5 per person boosts. My friends and I added on the $ 5 short ribs. Highly recommend their short ribs — perfectly marinated and so flavorful.
I love that I’m able to get the particular meats I know I like for $ 25. Yes, Gen has a huge menu offering, but I often find myself sticking to brisket, pork belly and short ribs. I also love that all their banchan/​sides are house made. With no time limit, what’s not to love? Who can be mad at that?
Service here is perfect. You don’t have to struggle to flag someone down which is generally the case with AYCE Korean BBQ spots. Water was constantly refilled, grills were changed without asking, orders for meat were taken without having to ask and everyone I’ve encountered has been friendly overall.
Serious props to the owners Eddie and Daniel. Daniel made the effort to thoroughly explain the menu and get to know all his diners. I definitely respect his hustle. Daniel and Ernesto (I believe that’s his name) were the only ones serving during my last visit and they had everything covered without a problem.
Yes, it’s inevitable that people will compare K-​Town to places like Gen, but I love that K-​Town has a home-​y vibe and I love to support small businesses whenever possible. It’s close to home and I will continue to frequent K-​town for future cravings.

I don’t get the high reviews. The food was very mediocre, and services was close to none. We ordered marinated short ribs and pork belly. Ribs were stiff and despite my effort of constantly chewing them, certain parts were not even edible. Banchan was flavorless. I noticed they gave the table behind us a bit more variety, maybe coz they had buffet. Services weren’t great. While the guy wasn’t rude, but he never checked on us for anything. I had to keep flagging him down for refill of water, tea, and other stuffs.

Sweet, Smokey, tender, charred Korean BBQ Ribs with a shot of soju. Ktown does it right! I’ve been here about 5 times now, and each time was a great experience!
In my most recent visit our group went with the «HANGRY» set, and the meat was really great quality. But more importantly, there were about 2 – 3 servers going around and asking us if we needed any more meat or banchan. When we needed something, they were always great about coming by the tables despite how busy it was. This is crucial for an AYCE.
I went to beque across the street and it’s terrible. All my coworkers vowed to never return. When we went to K-​Town my co workers loved it. Better quality meat, better tasting ban chan and better service.
I would definitely come back!

The beef short ribs get very tender and sweet. The pork belly is one of my favorite items to order at Korean BBQ restaurant, The pork belly can taste a little too fatty but tastes so yummy

I was in town on business and really needed some Bulgogi. This place is amazing! Sooooo much foooood! Daniel is such a nice guy. I will definitely visit this place on future visits.
Try the Soju! They have flavored ones but I preferred the plain.

We’ve got a new king of Korean BBQ in the East Bay. I’m always a bit wary of AYCE options, as sometimes restaurants choose quantity over quality, but I was shocked at the quality of the meat and how good all the side dishes were.
For $ 20 you can get the basic AYCE option, which is an outstanding deal in itself, but you can keep upgrading to get the meat of your choice.
But all the other dishes were great as well. My wife loved the seafood stew with bean curd and clams, while my mom was a fan of the seafood pancakes. My mom owned her own Korean BBQ restaurant for over a decade so she knows what she’s talking about when it comes to this food, and K-​Town BBQ absolutely nailed it. Definitely worth checking out.

Fantastic Korean. First, let me say how refreshing it is to find a Korean restaurant that doesn’t make you pay extra for Kimchi (good kimchi too, tastes like excellent homemade). Second, the barbecue is really really good and at a reasonable price. I will definitely be back for more!

Ktown BBQ. So yummy. The food is excellent, service is friendly, place is clean, it’s kid friendly, the pricing is on point. So many times I go to Korean restaurants and see there’s banchan inappropriate for kids, or even too exotic for me (I’m Korean) and I always have to ask the waitstaff to take it away so they don’t waste the food but at Ktown BBQ, every one of the banchans was delicious! The food portions were generous, the waitstaff was so friendly. What else can you ask more of from your neighborhood Korean joint? Oh, they also have soju, which compliments Korean spicy food so well. I ordered their spicy stir friend squid, LA Kalbi and seafood pancake. Damn. I’ll be going back again soon!

Read the reviews on Unilocal and decided to give it a go. We were not disappointed. Staff was very friendly and the food was delicious. It also has a fun hipster vibe. All the little munchies were yummy and our food (spicy pork and beef short ribs) arrived in a timely manner piping hot.
Safe to say this is my favorite new Korean restaurant.

First time here was on a Sunday for lunch and let me tell you I was not impressed at all. We were seated right away and got a table, the place was not busy at all. We sat down, the waiter explained to us the menu and everything. Shortly later, we were ready to order. It took forever for someone to come back and take our order.
When someone finally came to take our order, from the time they took our order to us actually receiving the food, felt like it was over 20 minutes or more. Keep in mind, they were not busy at all, the other restaurant patrons where doing the all you can eat Korean BBQ, so why did our food take so long?
On top of waiting over 20 minutes, when one of our entrees, the Beef Bulgolgi came, it was not what we were expecting or use to. The Beef Bulgolgi did not taste sweet at all, instead it tasted more sour like. When the waiter came to check up on us and ask us how was everything, we told him that the Beef Bulgolgi was not was we were expecting or use to. He asked us, what was wrong with it and we told him it tasted more sour than sweet.
He said he would check with his manager to see what he could do about this. He came back and said he can take it back to the kitchen and make a new order of it. We then asked, how long it would take because we already waited over 20 minutes initially for it. He said about 6 minutes, so we said okay. It ended up being way more than 6 minutes, really felt like 20 minutes again.
It really did seem as if they made an entire new order of it with new meat, because it looked piping hot and was actually way more sweeter this time. It was much better the second time around. That was better.
However, despite all that, I do not think my family and I would be returning back to this establishment. There are better places for Korean food. It is not worth all the waiting and waiting.

Korean bbq’s that are all you can eat are popping out everywhere. In the fremont and newark area not too many have opened so if you dont want to wait in line at Gen or dont want to drive all the way to cupertino for all that bbq this place may be worth checking out.
Rating wise, i’d give it 3.5 stars. Like most of the similar places like gen and all that bbq, its ayce and your allowed 2 to 3 choices of meat per round. Quality of meats were fresh and tasted pretty good. We especially liked th mushrooms that are given during each round of meats. Several things that differed from gen was they dont have the rice paper as well as not having those yogurt soju cocktails. On the other hand they do have fruit flavored soju so really thats just a preference sorta thing.
Another thing that at least to me i’m not too fond of was this place offering 3 different pricing levels. There’s 3 different pricing levels ranging from 20 to 35 and basically the higher tier would be given higher graded meats. To me i’d prefer one set price/​menu where your allocated whichever meats you desire but again just my preference.
Overall though, i do like the location as in the milpitas/​fremont area there really isn’t a good korean ayce restaurant. Definitely worth a try.

My (and my Korean fiancé’s) new favorite Korean place anywhere. I live in SF, have been to LA and Seoul, and this place is my absolute favorite.
It’s a combination of things.
First, the food is spectacular. It’s very authentic and reminds me of the best Korean I’ve had in various places throughout my life. But just as important, the management and staff are a special combination of super chill and quality.
Daniel the owner is a phenomenal guy who I met here the first week they opened. He has contributed greatly to this being our favorite restaurant.
Can’t recommend the place enough. Six stars.

Feeling adventurous and craving Korean food, we decided to stop in K-​Town to see what was up with the new place. They recently opened and the interior looks almost completely different than before. Whereas before the restaurant had a classic Korean restaurant look while it was run by an old couple, now it looks updated and modern, with big TVs playing sports and ads for soju plastered on the walls.
Onto the food…
They have an AYCE option for $ 20, and it was a really, really, REALLY good deal! We were very pleasantly surprised. They give you a menu of items to choose from and you get to cook it at your table. All the meat is super fresh! We loved the beef brisket, but the star is the pork belly! You get HUGE slabs of pork belly, super thick and super fresh. OMG it was so good!
You can also order pork cheek (also good), spicy chicken, spicy pork, squid, and I might be forgetting a few other meat options. They meal also comes with veggies you can grill, like onions and sweet potatoes (awesome idea and it’s yummy!). It also comes with a tofu soup, the usual side dishes, and a warm salad.
Service was awesome. They always check up on you and don’t hesitate in giving you more food when you ask.
If I ever feel like eating all of that meat again, I’ll definitely go back to K-​Town!

I haven’t been to this restaurant since it was previously named Manna and that was almost 8 years ago. I don’t know if the owner of K-​Town are actually different or they just re-​branded but the food tastes better than I remember.
All 8 side dishes were very fresh. Kimchi was surprisingly not old and I find old kimchi to be very common among Korean restaurants that aren’t incredibly busy. They were very generous with the portions and we asked for a lot of refills and they happy obliged in giving them to us.
I had the Fish Roe Stew which was very flavorful with adequate spice. They didn’t ask how spicy I wanted it though but it turned out to be about a medium. The stew had huge sacs of fish roe and some other wiggly white thing that looked like shriveled up intestines. I also tried the Short Rib Stew which had a good broth (but not milky) and the meat was a bit tough. It also didn’t come with the dipping sauce that you normally get.
I like that the AYCE options have 3 different levels so you don’t have to go absolutely nuts if you don’t want to. Even if you choose the lowest level at $ 20, you can add other plates of meat from the other sets for only $ 3 – 5 extra per person. I was glad to see that they have more specialty items like pork jowl and center cut short rib (the one that rolls up). I definitely want to come back to try the bbq.

Presentation ⁵⁄₅:
I have not been to making Korean BBQ Spots in my lifetime but this place has a very laid back and cool vibe, private dining, and a very social setting. Location of the restaurant itself is right off Stevenson, near the FoodMAXX.
Customer Service ⁵⁄₅:
Probably the best thing about this spot is the customer service. The waiter explained the menu to us in a cool, relaxed manner. Did not seemed rushed one bit and definitely let us know the deals that they currently had to save us money. While cooking our food, our grill kept burning and the waiters kept coming to change out the grill for a new one, no questions asked. We even got some items on the house, definitely a change up to most restaurants in the Bay Area.
Food ⁵⁄₅:
Very tasty and in good portions. Always a fan of the Kimchi fried rice and bulgogi. Downside is on my part, while cooking the spicy pork, I could not tell for the life of me if it was cooked or not. Thanks to the waiters for helping.
Overall, ⁵⁄₅. Definitely a great place to have Korean BBQ. Fairly new so wait is not too long and saves me from driving to San Jose.

My boyfriend and I were looking for a new korean place to try out and this new place popped up. This place just recently opened (a month ago) and they are still trying things out. They are currently on phase 2 –soft opening. We came here on a Tuesday night, and it was prettty empty. This place is pretty hidden, and the place is descent size. Can hold about 100 people. Good for groups and family.
You have the option to eat traditional korean food where you order a dish or you can do the all you can eat menu. We did the AYCE, and it was so worth it! We got their $ 20 AYCE the «BUILD YOUR OWN» set includes thin sliced brisket, spicy pork, spicy chicken, pork belly, pork neck, and squid. We also got their la short ribs for additional $ 5 per person. After ordering, they served us banchan dishes and 1 soup. We got the option to choose soybean or kimchi, and we got kimchi.
The kimichi soup was really good. It was spicy, flavorful, and had a lot of cabbage. Their banchan dish were good too, but their bean spout and brocolli needed more flavor. Now onto the real food! Their short rib is the BOMB! When it came out, it was not frozen unlike other AYCE. The meat was mariinated really well and it had tons of flavor. Also, their thin brisket was pretty thick, no flavor, but it was good! I can’t forget about their PORK BELLY, it was THICK! Just delicious. The spicy pork was good too, again had tons of flavor. My least favorite was their pork neck. Don’t suggest ordering that because it tasted like pork chop and it had no flavor.
Overall my experience here was great! Their service was on point! They made sure we had enough water, dipping sauce, and food. My boyfriend really liked their mustard sauce, it tasted like wasabi with sweet soy sauce. We came out with a full belly with no regrets! This place is still soft opening, wonder what other improvement they will have… can’t wait to come back and see!

K-​Town was definitely a great gem! My friend & I saw that it was opening soon so we made the plans to come! I saw on Unilocal that the soft opening was happening so I told my friend & we came!
Since it’s a soft opening, the options were limited. My friend & I decided to order meat & soup to split. We ordered Bulgogi & seafood Soft Tofu soup. It came along with rice & ban chon. Everything was so flavorful & tasty!!! My taste buds were singing! I enjoyed the seafood soft tofu soup very much. The broth was definitely amazing!!! I wish there was fish cake as one of the ban chon choices!
Service was on point too! The co-​owner, Daniel, came around to introduce himself. He’s very open to suggestions! He also shared his vision for his restaurant which was definitely awesome to hear!
I’m excited to come back for Grand Opening!

After a great day of Playoff Football. I was Famished and I had a full charge on my Ankle Bracelet. So I checked my Unilocal Bookmarks and up pops K– Town BBQ in Newark. So I jumped into my Whip and rolled to Newark and K– Town BBQ .
K-​Town is located in a large Strip mall so there’s plenty of parking so I stashed my Whip there, I rolled into K– Town where my lovely server JK greets me and tells me I can pick my table .
JK brings me a glass of Ice Water and a Soft Opening Menu. They have been open for 6 days and are fine tuning their Menu and Training their staff. I perused their Soft Opening Menu and Ordered the Marinated BBQ Short Ribs on a Sizzling Steel Platter .
JK returns to my table with 7 Bowls Of different Banchan, Banchan is one of my favorite Components of eating Korean Food.. I like the Different Flavors and Textures it transports me to different times and memories of times past. 10 minutes later JK checks up on me and refills my Banchan for me and tops off my Water Glass.
5 Minutes later JK brings me my BBQ Short Ribs on a Hot Steel Sizzling Platter. The Ribs were packed full of Flavor and the Ribs were cooked just right .
One of the Principals and Owners — Daniel stopped by my table to Check on me and asked how I liked my Meal. Daniel is very Passionate about his Restaurant and his Food. Daniel is open to Suggestions and Constructive Criticism about his food and restaurant.
I really enjoyed my meal. I think K-​Town BBQ is going to do just fine.
The Décor of K-​Town BBQ is pretty nice they have these Cool Shadow Boxes built into the wall and they are lit .
Their waiting for Comcast to install their Cable. They Plan to have 2 LCD TVs for Entertainment.
