La Parada Dominicana

Back in the day this was the spot especially late night. Now the food sucks, the service sucks. Don’t waste your time.

Ordered rice beans and ribs. The delivery man was 2 hours late although they are like 15 mins away from me. And naturally the food was cold. Tasted poor. The beans had no seasoning and the ribs tasted like they were from the day before. Never again.

Not very fresh. There was mold on our jello. Totally grossed out. I will not be back.

I’ve never had Dominican cuisine before so I can’t speak on its authenticity, but what I can speak on is how the food speaks to me. There’s no menu. Nothing on the walls. Nothing on the counter. Nothing handed to you. Just a cafeteria-​style layout with no signs or labels. We newbies have to guess what we’re looking at, decipher the accent of the (dancing) workers when we ask them what items are displayed, and point at what we want. I had something pork with mashed plantains? I think she said plantains. Didn’t taste like plantains, but it was good. GF got something chicken. Let me tell you… MY WORD! Shit was goooood! They didn’t have any hot sauce within view or reach so we brought the food home to spice it up with our habanero sauce. Bomb! Bomb! Bomb! Four instead of five stars only because hot sauce was not in your face… the way we like it. I’m from Cali. You know Mexicans out there have a smörgåsbord of hot sauces out and that’s the way I want to see it.
