The worst service I have ever experienced. They replaced a part that didn’t need to be replaced. I asked for the replaced part and took it to my mechanic and was told that the part looked like new and did not need to be replaced. Ripped off for $ 500.00. DON’T EVER GO THERE!!!

Worst service, after scheduling an appointment with a very very rude person on the phone I went in to find they didn’t have the tire I wanted in my size which I asked for a week ahead of time when I scheduled my appointment and I was told they did. Won’t be going back

I wish I could give zero stars. After making an appointment I show up only to be told they are backed up and can’t fix my brakes so I either need to leave my brakes or go somewhere else. I ended up leaving without my brakes fixed and they just shrugged their shoulders as if they couldn’t care less. Deplorable customer service, they have lost a customer for life. Never again will I give them even one dollar.

I took my car in because the AC wasn’t working and when I went to pick it up I turned it on and it was shaking like a MF and the engine light came on. I went back in and told them and they tell me that they had to break a part to get to another part? It didn’t make sense but in return I ended up paying 600+ dollars and missed time from work. Thank you pep boys!

Updated review. After a very positive experience having some major work done here, I made a 9am appointment for an oil change. Dropped my car off and checked in at 9, told them I had a meeting and lunch plans so they could take until noon if that made their lives easier.
I arrive at the store at 2:15, over 5 hours after I dropped my car off for a simple oil change, and my car had not been touched. I was offered an apology and was told that if I wanted to wait another hour they could take my car next. No thank you, I will be taking my business elsewhere. A complaint was also filed with corporate; hopefully they’ll address this situation.

This Pep Boys location is always polite and friendly. They really care about getting things right, and will typically encourage you to select the best value option, except in rare cases where a product is truly inferior. The fact that they are open on both Saturdays and Sundays is a huge benefit for many of us that need our cars to commute to work. Additionally, the location consistently seems to beat their estimates on how long the repair work they do will take – I often get a call long before I expect to.
Recently, they really provided an exceptional experience. A protective plastic shield had broken from my car, and I was late for an important meeting, so I asked if they could informally look and simply see if I would be causing my car a problem if I drove to the meeting and back before having it serviced later. They confirmed for me the shield was not a mechanical concern, that I would have to take it to the dealer (thereby saving me the time from having them serviced), and I was on my way. Things could have turned out differently with the part, but the people that work in the department showed how much they care about the people that come in.

Scheduled a service appointment and was told car would be ready in 45min, so I waited around. 1:15 later, the car still hadn’t been taken into the garage. Servicing took over two hours making me question why I even booked an appt in the first place. Very poor cust serv.

Always great service! They replaced my headlight bulb and showed me how to do it FREE of charge. They will honor a coupon if you forget it and maybe save you more if they have a better one.

I just moved here and I have an older car so I constantly have to keep up with it, so why not pep boys? I needed to get my ball joint replaced so I brought it in as soon as they opened (8:00)… mind you I had work later that day which is why I brought it in early. They told me it should only take about 2 hrs at tops… well 4 and a half hours go by without a phone call so I called them to ask how much longer. Would you know it, they hadn’t even started on it! I could understand if there was a bunch of cars ready to be fixed on but it was dead. They also tried adding things onto the prices which thankfully I caught and had them take off. I think it’s safe to say I WILL NOT be going back to them.

I went to pep boys thinking that since all I needed was an oil change there is no way they can screw that up. Boy was I wrong. They told me I needed a new battery so I purchased one. On I-​95 at 3 am I stop in some town in southern Virginia to get cash from an Atm. Lo and behold my car will not start. When triple A comes they tell me its the battery some how the terminals are messed up. The next time I stopped for gas the same thing happened. I was on my way to Ft Benning GA to see my husband graduate and because of pep boys’ idiocy I was late and stressed. Luckily I made it to Charlotte and told the local pep boys what had happened. They took my car right in and fixed it for free. They told me that Newark had put giant spacers on the battery cables which wasn’t allowing it to recharge while the car was running. Thank you pep boys Newark for making my trip a living hell.
