Ramada Newark/Wilmington

Booked through Hotwire, where I requested a 3-​star hotel. I was surprised to have gotten this hotel as I had requested a 3-​star minimum. Every site I looked on described this hotel as a 2-​star. I even called the hotel directly and corporate and was told by them that this was a 2-​star hotel. Since Hotwire would not work with us to honor their 3-​star promise and we didn’t want to forfeit our money, we had to stay.
We arrived ready to make the best of our stay. Upon waking into the room, immediately we noticed an awful smell. The room smelled like mildew abs trash and felt very damp. The bathroom also smelled like sewage. I asked the front desk if they could do anything about the smell and they sent housekeeping to spray a bottle labeled «potpourri spray» on the carpet. The room that we had had a motel-​style door that faced a courtyard (for use only by the neighboring Staybridge suites guests). Although we couldn’t go out there, we often left the door open to ventilate the room and try to get rid of the bad smell. The room looks terribly unappealing and dirty. The shower head was very dirty and there were stains on the wallpaper. There was a layer of dust on the headboard and a large old stain on the floor. There was a refrigerator in the room that froze anything you put inside of it. We were unable to adjust any settings to fix the issue. All of the rooms were non-​smoking, but the hallways smelled like cigarettes our entire stay. You can also hear every single thing that happens in your neighbor’s room or in the hallway.
The hotel breakfast is pretty unappealing. I stayed there for 5 days and every morning it was the same breakfast menu (which included yellow rice).
I have stayed in many old hotels and enjoyed my stay. The issue was not the age of the hotel nor that it was not renovated, but the maintenance and cleanliness. Service was pretty mediocre as well.
I would definitely not recommend this place. Especially if you have to stay any extended period of time.

I booked through Hotwire felt mislead since it wasn’t a $ 151 hotel $ 89 reg price we got it for $ 67 before taxes. 3 star ‘maybe’. We had first floor room, facing parking lot. NEED SHEER CURTAINS inside the drapes, we couldn’t open the drapes without being totally exposed. The fitness room had True machines for Tmill, Ellip, bike. The bike was the best of the 3, then the Tmill, the ellip was not worthy. The universal weight machine was fine. The TV is set at an angle that viewing is difficult and the volume didn’t work on remote.
Our room was very stuffy upon arrival, need the a/​c turned on. Beds, pillows very comfortable.
Having Microwave/​Fridge was good.
Staffing was very nice. Breakfast was good — scr eggs, sausage, rice/​carrots, fried potatoes, various baked danish/​baked goods, waffles to make, juices, instant oatmeal, fruits, yogurt, coffee, tea. It was further away from our Newark destination for us to come back, but close to 95.

They don’t even deserve one star! I had to give it to write the review. we drove 3 hours to visit my daughter in college only to be told that when we arrived that our reservation we made in August was cancelled! They «claim» they tried to contact us because credit card didn’t go through however we received no such call and we just used the same credit card to pay for a room somewhere else. they tried to send us to a quality inn instead… don’t waste your time and money there are MANY nicer hotels in the area!

This hotel is not with the annoyance and stress of a poorly trained staff and management team. Upon check in the hotel was shady. A sign that said if you check in with a debit card, you will be charged a fee each night, when asked the man who checked us in he said it’s just for customers «that look like trouble». So already I feel uncomfortable. The hotel in general smells. Since it is pet friendly it smells like pets have been there forever. Specifically cat piss. The biggest problem of all is upon check out I was charged a smoking fee to my room. I do not smoke and assumed this was some sort of error. I was in a constant phone tag for the next 3 weeks until a manager finally informed me there was nothing she could do. Another manager put this fee on and because house keeping said it was true, it must be apparently. I asked whom else could help me and she said no one. The way this was handled, and how many times I had to call and hound someone to get back to me was insane and incredibly unprofessional of a hotel management team to act. I am not a smoker and cannot smoke but someone said my room smelt like smoke so I get screwed?! Do not stay here. There are a bunch of other hotels worth your time and more importantly money. Do not stay here. I can’t stress that enough.

Fast. Cheap. Don’t judge it. Not updated but if your looking for a cheap place a comfortable bed. Friendly staff. Great food. You found it

The room was clean, but this is an old hotel that has a new face on it, and it really leaves much to be desired. There is an old section and new section … ask for a room in the new section. We won’t go back here.

Place smells. Rooms are dank and humid. All air off upon arrival @10pm. No elevator. The people ahead of us got second floor. Gave me the heads up to ask for 1^st floor.

This one was pretty ridiculous, folks. Be prepared for a long story.
We had the worst experience here, and we never even ended up staying. Thank goodness. We booked about a month ahead to stay during a large event being held nearby. The hotel was pretty much full. We anticipated it being crowded, but there was no organization.
When we arrived we were all exhausted and starving. We just wanted to get to our 2 rooms, shower, and go find food. We were greeted (well, not actually greeted) by probably the most unpleasant front desk employee I’ve ever come across. Now, I’ve worked customer service forever, and I try to be really sympathetic to how hard the job can be, but it was offensive. His face read how much he hated his job and he just appeared miserable. First he asked if we had booked for Friday (the day before). We had not. We told him we were only booked for overnight Saturday. He spent about 15 minutes on the computer not saying anything to us. By this time a line had formed behind us. He asked if it was just one room– we had booked 2. Apparently our reservation wasn’t there, although we had a confirmation. Now, this wasn’t necessarily his fault specifically. He was just so unpleasant it was almost unbearable. After about 25 minutes of standing at the front desk we finally get our keys, without a single apology. My boyfriend and I make it up to our room and we walk in and I see a bra hanging on a hook on the bathroom door. Then from in the bathroom a woman yells «did you just open that door?!» THE ROOM WAS ALREADY OCCUPIED! To make it even better, that was the SECOND time someone was given keys to their room. My boyfriend was mortified. What a massive invasion of privacy. So we book it downstairs after apologizing profusely to the woman and her friend. We then have to wait in line for a good 10 minutes to be seen again. The woman also comes down to talk to the front desk. Although she was angry, she was much more calm than I would have been in that situation. I would have been screaming! We tell him our room already had people in it. No apology, just annoyance that we were back at the desk. Lots of heavy sighing on his part. By this time the other couple we were traveling with are back too, their door won’t even open. We once again get new keys. At this point I’m nervous to stay here. If he is giving people keys to already occupied rooms, how safe is it to leave our things in our room when we go out? Who knows how many people could walk in while we’re gone?
My boyfriend and I get to our new room and notice the door is open. The dead bolt bar was keeping it cracked. That’s strange. I open the door and see the window open with an industrial size fan next to it on full blast. The room smells horrible, mold mixed with cleaning products. I’m immediately like «I’m not staying here. This is disgusting.»
I turn around to go back to the front desk. I tell him that this is ridiculous, our room was obviously flooded recently. He just looks at me and says «well that’s the only room I have left.» Again, no apology, just annoyance. I say we are not staying here, you need to fix this. He tells me that he can transfer us to a different hotel nearby. At this point everyone is so grumpy and exhausted we’re about ready to just sleep in the car. We had been there for almost an hour!
We were transferred to the Quality Inn in Newark, not far from where we were. We had a little trouble getting there due to flooding, but as long as we were out of that place we didn’t care.
Our room was refunded from the Ramada, and we were comped our night at the Quality Inn. When we finally made it to our new hotel, I wanted to cry. The woman at the front desk was SO nice, our rooms were wonderfully clean and the breakfast was nice.
Our hotel experience with Ramada was the WORST I have ever had. If I could give it zero stars, I would. We will never think of staying again.

This place has pretty much everything a mid level accomodation can provide. Free wifi and free breakfast. Room was clean enough, even though my door knob sort of malfunctioned. Parking was free. The receptionist gentleman was very nice.
Location is convenient to come and go from University of Delaware, taking about 10 min. I mean, if you know what you are getting into before buying it, this shouldn’t be a bad place to stay.

It’s an ok hotel. The free breakfast was actually pretty good.

For $ 50 on
, the value was decent. The room was a little old but it was relatively clean. The AC was blowing on high when I went into the room so I don’t know if it was to cover up anything. Toiletries were good and bathroom was clean.
The location is pretty convenient off of I-​95 in case you need to head up to Wilmington or Philly and there was retail nearby. The continental breakfast was ok, but the eggs looked pretty fake so I just had 1 sausage and some juice. The night manager looked like Andrew Weil which was a little bit scary when I checked in after midnight. Otherwise, it’s decent value but there are a lot of other hotels in the area with similar rates and supposed to be of similar quality.

I’ve been staying at this hotel every time I travel to northern Delaware since I discovered that it isn’t any more expensive than Sleep Inn or Comfort Inn. There is easy access to this hotel off I-​95 /​Route 273. It is only one exit away from Christiana Mall and Churchman’s Crossing shopping areas. The rooms are decent. Some, but not all, of the rooms have microwave oven and refrigerator. The staff are generally polite and helpful. The complimentary breakfast is a cut above typical motel fare in that they have eggs and sausage.
Downside is they don’t have elevators. So be prepared to carry your luggage upstairs if you get a second-​floor room.
Wi-​fi internet is available and it’s actually decent for a low-​cost hotel. On my most recent stay, there was only one of three nights when I found it somewhat sluggish.

Good value for a night ($ 56), but not sure I would stay here again. Rate includes continental breakfast. Friendly staff. Some rooms smelled stuffy. You can definitely hear your neighbor’s alarms going off, door opening/​closing in hallway, etc. Easy access off I-​95, and quite convenient to other major local roads.
