This place is a solid 2 stars. Food is meh and customer service is what you would expect at 5AM so no complaints there. Next time you’re at EWK walk around a bit to see what they have or not. If you’re lucky you might find something worthy of more than 2 stars but chances are you won’t. At 5AM before a long flight, food is food. #firstworldproblems

I don’t understand why everyone is all wrapped around the axle over Ruby’s. This place isn’t bad at all. I actually kinda like it. Some people I guess think airport restaurants should be like the Capital Grill but 80% cheaper.

Sometimes you just want to slow down, park it on a padded chromed frame chair, eat a no frills old scool sandwich with fries, and relax a bit before burning luggage-roller-wheel rubber to the next terminal. Ruby’s does a good job of all the above. Not fancy, but it works… maybe that’s the point.

Appalling. Even for an airport venue. The limited menu is incredibly disappointing. I understand not having an expansive selection in a smaller location, but it really was insanely small. Tight seating and full plastic utensils complete the lack of ambiance. The food was nearly inedible. Selected the Breakfast burrito as it was really the only option and was sad. Terrible food. The home fries were cold, undercooked mush. The burrito was ok. Just… ok. The only highlight was the service which was quick and attentive. Otherwise, go somewhere else. A packet of crisps would have been more satisfying and a great deal less expensive.

Stopped off here to grab a quick breakfast before my connection. Ordered the eggs with bacon and toast, along with an iced tea. I found the eggs and bacon to be cooked to my personal perfection and the tables are stocked with Dickinson’s jam which was absolutely delicious with my toast. The prices were reasonable for an airport and the service was quick with no notable hiccups. I honestly can’t wait until the next time I stop off at the Newark airport just to get a bite here again. My only ding against the place was that the front part seems pretty crammed, especially since most travelers are lugging large bags around with them.

I was at the airport early in the morning and wanted some breakfast food. Ruby’s wasn’t bad at all… I wouldn’t expect more from a diner in the airport. I ordered the scrambled eggs, bacon, and toast(they don’t offer to cook the eggs any other way). My husband wanted to order the tuna melt, but they didn’t offer the lunch menu at that hour so he ordered the cinnamon roll fench toast. The food came out pretty quickly, and my dish was served with sausage instead of the bacon I ordered, but the waiter realized right before he put the plate down that there was a mistake. He let me start on my meal and offered to bring out a plate of bacon. My husband got to eat the sausages so no complaints, I didn’t mind waiting for my bacon ;) I tried the cinnamon roll french toast as well and it was a bit too sweet for me, but if you’re into sweets for breakfast, it won’t be bad. The waiter was friendly, but he did make a few mistakes here and there… we asked for another fork because the one on the table was a bit dirty, but he accidentally brought out a knife so I didn’t bother asking again, I just wiped the dirty fork off with some water. We asked for hot sauce and he didn’t bring that out either so we just went over to an empty table that had a bottle and brought it over. One thing I thought was odd was that they give you plastic utensils. Overall not a bad experience though!

Waiter acted as if we were REALLY inconveniencing him when we ordered our burgers without certain items. I felt like the workers were just there to collect paychecks — doing the bare minimum. Food was mediocre. Only good thing was that it provided us somewhere to sit and eat between flights.

Okay so I read the reviews and was not keen on eating here but we decided to try it. Should have gone with my gut! Literally! Both ordered the bacon cheeseburger. One with garlic fries and one with Cajun fries. Chocolate milkshake and a water. Food came out incredibly fast. My burger was okay for the first few bites then got 2 big pieces of gristle so that turned me off. My fries were crispy which I like but just had done warm crushed garlic poured over it. The Cajun ones were better but super spicy. The best part of the meal was the chocolate shake as it was thick and very good chocolate but I just had one taste of it. From the time we sat down until we got our check was 17 minutes. Too fast even for an airport. Most people who take time to sit down for a meal at an airport are usually not pressed for time. Folks check out other options for a meal as we found lots of places walking to our gate. And most of all trust the UnilocalER reviews unlike stupid me!!! Reviews from UnilocalERS are meant to be used. I have got to get better with this!

We hit up this little spot because it was conveniently located in our terminal and we had an hour or so before our flight. It was breakfast time, so we went for eggs… only thing is, the only option is three eggs scrambled, or a few types of omelets. That’s right, no sunny-side up, no over-easy…service was good however and the food came quickly, but wasn’t really up to par. They do have a to-go option though. Seems like people had more luck with burgers and lunch/dinner!

I realize airports are not the destination for gourmet refinery, peace, or value. However: Newark international Airport has many choices in food, from convenience-type granola or snacks to McDonalds or Qdoba, pizza, up to a steakhouse near Terminal A that looks very nice(but too high for what I wanted to spend on dinner.) When travelling with a decent layover(over 1 hour) I like to relax and therefore pay more to sit down and enjoy a table to myself. The value in paying more for your meal at a sit-down at an airport is peace and privacy, which is a commodity at a busy airport. I ordered the BBQ Bacon burger with fries and an iced tea. The food came out quickly, within 8 – 10 minutes. The burger tasted good, but was too large to eat so I waited a few minutes for a fork and knife. The onion rings on the burger were shrivled/soggy and the bread was really basic and cold.(They could have grilled the bread too). My biggest issue is this: not even halfway through eating my burger the waiter asked if I wanted anything else and then proceeded to hand me the check. I was really annoyed! He was friendly, but this is rude and bad policy in my opinion. I was not playing on my phone etc– just eating– and yet I felt like I was being rushed out. The other customer service complaint I have is that another server was standing behind the counter, rolling napkins or something, and talking really loudly with a friend sitting at the counter. It was very loud and went on throughout my entire meal(under 25 mins). The manager(who corrected an employee for greeted me while wearing gloves) was sitting nearby at a counter and didn’t seem to care about this. Really disappointed and regretted my choice to spend $ 21.00(food, tax and tip) on a burger and iced tea with awful service. If I have to go through this airport again I will eat at one of their food court areas, so I can grab some food and a table. It’s not peaceful but it’ll do! :)

Good place for breakfast in the airport. Had scrambled eggs and toast. I also had a strawberry milkshake which was fantastic. Made with real ice cream! Service was good and fast. Definitely would go back.

My chili cheese fries were excellent, with large chunks of tender beef(not ground). My wife’s hamburger was pretty bad, but they took it off the bill when we complained. Excellent Oreo shake. The place is expensive, Manhattan level prices. 13 for a burger and 8 for a shake.

If you are in EWR and looking for a tasty burger, served in a friendly environment, quickly, you’re out of luck. Well that is to say, you’re out of luck if you stop in at Ruby’s. I ordered just that. A bacon Cheeseburger, with Cajun Fries and lemonade. My server was the surliest person in the place. He words were more like grunts and he only supplemented these with vague pointing gestures. My Medium Rare burger was well done, the cajun fries, regular fries unevenly seasoned with store brand cajun seasoning after cooking. The eating experience was even weirder. With my first bite into the burger it virtually exploded. I wish I had taken a photo of the bun, It looks like the glaciers in the arctic after it breaks up like they show on discovery channel. I reasoned that this was due to the abundance of lettuce versus the small meat patty. To make matters worse, the table I was seated at was next to the POS station. The wait staff when not otherwise busy hangs out here, a little more than arms length away and yucks it up. The chatter covers multiple languages and topics and due to the proximity you can’t escape it. The only positive I have about Ruby’s is that the surly server did refill my lemonade without me asking. So if this is the only redeeming quality you need in a diner, Ruby’s is the place for you!

Menu says farm fresh but will only serve you scrambled eggs. Really? I thought the lady was joking. Homefries looked to be a boiled potatoes diced up by children and the sausage was definitely from a corn fed animal that lived in cramped quarters. I can just hear it now scrambling for space as I eat these struggle eggs. Just go somewhere else, but if you decide to stay, be careful with the plastic only utensils.

Quick, cheap, and simple, but I would try another place. The menu here is extremely limited. Probably no more than 20 items of which half are burgers. That alone loses the right to be classified as a Diner in Jersey. Ruby’s has the exterior of a diner, but it’s far from a real diner, it’s more like a fast food joint. Service was good, but nothing extraordinary. To be expected, so this saved a one star rating. The garden salad lack the amount of vegetables to be considered a garden salad, and the turkey burger was in one word: bland.

We just came off an 8 hour flight and had 4 hours to wait for our connecting flight. We walked by thinking there might be something better than diner food down the way, but there wasn’t so we came back. Friendly workers. Our server was great! Polite and courteous. The food came out quickly and I guess the object is to turn the tables fast. I ordered the club sandwich which came out on a soft roll. It was decent. The partner had a bacon cheeseburger and said it was good, even though there was too much mayo. Both came with crispy fries, though some were a little old. Overall, a decent meal for being at the airport. She: This doesn’t taste like swiss cheese He: I can assure you it is She: I’ve had swiss cheese burgers before and this doesn’t taste right Give me an effing break! You’re at a diner in an airport not at some gourmet shi-shi restaurant. Then the manager came out. Even told her they’d bring out the packaging to prove to her. Some people are dumb!

Rating: * Negative 2 Stars* Reasoning: I would never dine there again and would certainly tell people to do the same. I went to this place because it seemed that it was always packed every week when I fly in/out Newark. Well, I wanted to try this place out and the service was actually quite good — and the food was too until I threw it up later on and seeing as that was the only thing I ate that evening — I knew it was them and I was pissed. It was some old grease that they were using and what was worse I called management and told them that I wanted my card reversed of the charges. Think about this — for me to REVERSE charges on a Corporate Card — your food has to be pretty shitty. Anyways, I was then told by the manager that NOBODY calls back to tell them their food was bad and I told this manager that it was probably because they didn’t want to either A) deal with you or B) still sick from the food and don’t have the time. I emphasized that while service was great — BADFOOD does not SUBSTITUTE for good service. Then the manager told me that maybe I had a ‘bug” and I asked him if he thought I was born yesterday. I then told him of my frequent travel and that I know the difference between a stomach bug and bad food. And in better terms asked him ‘who the hell does he think I am — I travel too much for to be listening to this sh*t’. He then went ahead and reversed the charge. That was nice of him after he heard what I had to say. I will not recommend this place.

Ruby’s Diner is in a good location right past the security stop. So whatever gate you are headed to in Terminal C, you make a stop here given the extra time. the service was pretty quick. I had a cinnamon roll french toast that was served piping hot and awesome. It was a large portion that I couldn’t finish so feel free to order one and share! It has a cute atmosphere and although the prices are a little steep — what isn’t at the airport?

It is a Diner in an airport, yet it has that Diner feel, the food is not bad at all. Service was efficient and to the point. Décor is adorably«Faux Diner» We ordered a platter with eggs, hash browns, toast(hold the bacon) and they gave us fruit instead. It was substantial and well, tasted exactly like you would expect it to taste. Price? $ 8 something. I asked the server if coffee was included and she said no, and went on to talk about something else, I had wanted to order an iced tea instead if it was, because I don’t drink American Coffee. She came with coffee — I hadn’t really ordered it and she never clarified but I figured I would drink it anyway. For black American Coffee it was ok. I didn’t appreciate however the $ 2.75 charge for it. Attention to detail when taking orders would be nice. We also had to ask if we could substitute bacon for something else and that is when she said we could, we weren’t asked if we wanted to. These are the reasons it went from 4 to 3 stars. I know it is in a busy airport but it wasn’t busy when we went. At all. All in all, pretty good!

I went to this Ruby’s during my layover in Newark on my travel back to Tustin for summer vacation. This is a somewhat small Ruby’s, and doesn’t has the full menu of a regular Ruby’s. Our server was a little pushy during this meal. He said it was no problem and to take our time, but it felt like he was trying to rush us, and he kept asking if we wanted to order anything else/dessert. Overall, the food was okay, although I was disappointed in the limited menu.
