air attendants were rude and not friendly. Then, they broke my samsonite luggage handle completely and it took them a month to get back to offer $ 25 as compensation. I can’t use my luggage anymore as the handle was totally broken. Would $ 25 be enough to buy another samsonite in NYC? I would not recommend this airline to anyone.

Stellar serviced airlines and part of the Star Alliance. Flew with them a first time and I was so delighted that I will book with them again. Mind you, I have flown with most international carriers, B.A., Virgin, Finnair, Sabena, AirEuropa, Scandanavia, Icelandair, list goes on and they are top. The flight attendants are what all should be and the food was awesome!

It has now been 35 DAYS since TAP lost my luggage, flying through Lisbon to Casablanca, Morocco. I have spent almost every day since calling your lost and found, in both Lisbon and Newark to get an update on my bag. I am put off by every single person I speak to on the phone — they tell me they will look into it, they tell me they will call me back. When I leave messages, they are never returned. I have NEVER in my entire life experienced such unprofessionalism and ATROCIOUS customer service. I wasted countless hours every single day of my vacation going to the Marrakech airport because the one thing TAP did tell us over and over, during our vacation, was that the bag was being sent there. Your company has not responded in a responsible, prompt, honest manner since the beginning. I deserve some answers. I am telling every single person I know how your airline ruined my vacation. If your company could have been up front from the beginning and told me that they had no information about my bag and no idea where it was, at least I could have spent one day buying some clothes and toiletries and waited for TAP to do the work, look for my bag and get back to me. Instead, I was told they would call back later, but they NEVER did. I had to waste time calling again the next day, sitting on hold, telling my story again. I will recommend that NO ONE CHOOSES to fly your airline if they want to arrive with their luggage. I will post to all social media that your customer service is the WORST of ANY company I have ever dealt with in my 45 years of life.

TAP = Transportes Aereos Portugueses, and not something you do with your foot or your finger when nervous. It’s also Portugal’s flag carrier.
I have flow them domestically within Portugal a few times, from the mainland to their island of Madeira, some 600 miles SW of the mainland, in the Atlantic and near the Canary Islands. I was pissed that I was rerouted on an award ticket, and made to connect through Toronto on another carrier whereas I had originally been booked to fly on their evening Newark to Lisbon service which uses Airbus 340 equipment. I was really looking forward to that.
I’d say about 3.5 stars. They are competent and somewhat friendly, more so in the air than on the ground. They kept to the schedule, gave you a soft drink, and your luggage was at the carousel shortly after landing. I’ll chip away from 5 stars for several reasons: 1) enough sullen service at the check-​in counters in Lisbon, 2) Lisbon’s airport desperately needs to be improved, and they have most of the gates, and 3) they only fly out of Newark when they could have some flights out of Boston for the significant Portuguese community in southern New England, who has to schlep down to the tri-​state NY area to catch a flight to their motherland.
They are comparable to Iberia, but just a tad better.

Before leaving on our recent Honeymoon, a Portuguese friend of Gayle’s warned her about possible flight delays on TAP, and advocated a «trust, but verify» approach to whatever one of their agents said regarding plane schedules or delays. And while in Portugal, the latest public «strikes» in France were in the news and our heads.
Things turned out fine, and the only really confusing aspect of our TAP experience was trying to figure out where to check in after we returned the rental car at LIS. We arrived plenty early and fully taking into account that Europe went off Daylight Savings Time a week before North America. The only downside of that was having to leave our wonderful hotel (Pousada de Dona Maria I in Queluz) too soon.
We erroneously tried to check in at the Frequent Flyer/​Business Class area (including Desk 13) of TAP. Our plane would be an Airbus in a 2−4−2 configuration, and the agent was kind enough to assign us seats in the center part, but in the Exit row. That meant a little more leg room and a more enjoyable flight home. We still had to schlep our 4 checked bags over to the Desk 76 – 80 area, but the line was short, the agent was warm and efficient, and contrary to what we thought we read on the TAP website, there were no baggage charges.
After multiple layers of airport security, Gayle and I finally made it to the inner sanctum of Gate 46. It was a pretty full plane and boarding had its early crowding moments. However, once on the plane, things settled in nicely. Europe offers its share of cattle car experiences (e.g., Ryan Air), but here in the National airline part of the business, folks haven’t forgotten how to treat people right in Coach. We got meals, we got wine, it was comfortable, and we enjoyed our movies and our last taste of Europe together. It was a very nice flight.
Sharing our row was a young couple and their baby. After our own experiences with taking our children on planes, we initially were not looking forward to this arrangement ahead of an 8 hour flight. And to accent that point, there were a few young ones occasionally wailing a few rows back. Yet at the end of the flight, Gayle made it a point to compliment the young parent on how good of a mother she was and what a great kid they were raising. Our experience with some American parents is that often let their kid «do their thing» and not care how it effects anyone else. This Portuguese baby had her Mom and Dad’s full attention during the entire flight. And what a cute and happy baby she was, and with those gorgeous blue eyes…
