Acorn Custom Cabinets

We ordered 1 room of custom bookshelves and did not have a good experience. The planning and design process went very smoothly After we wrote a check, things went downhill. When the bookcases were delivered not all of the pieces were included or correct which caused a delay to our installation. We used Mark Elliottt as our installer and he was excellent.
The bookcases were also not all made with the correct wood. In hindsight, we would have asked to have them removed and made with the correct wood, but we did not. We allowed Acorn to put «skins» of the correct wood glued onto the incorrect wood. The skins were not a tight fit and on one cabinet in particular you can see that a false front was glued into our bookcase.
The shelves were also made with the wrong wood. We had to ask for new shelves to be made and wait for them to be delivered. When the second set of shelves were delivered they were the incorrect size. The solution was to put more skins on our cabinets, essentially making our cabinets smaller to fit their too short shelves.
New skins were installed. Shelves were brought back and again some shelves were the wrong size. Again, I had to ask for them to be remade.
It was 3 months from when the cabinets were first delivered to when they delivered the final acceptable pieces. We were never offered a discount or money back or any incentive to return our business. So we will not.

The cabinets we purchased are very well made. The customer service was not so great. Cost was less than some big stores and more than one.
