I was fairly happy with this YMCA while I worked out there. Great classes, nice gym equipment, friendly employees. I was not a fan of their summer day camps, however. My son, who is very social and loves school, cried after the first day and begged not to go back. We did finish the week but he made me promise to never send him back. I just think there were too many kids to provide a quality experience.
My biggest frustration has occurred since we moved. I requested to have my membership cancelled two times and they have continued to charge my credit card. I have taken the issue to the director and she has not answered my emails in a timely manner. She has not yet resolved this issue.
I would no longer recommend this YMCA to my friends or family. It’s not worth the high monthly membership fees, especially if they aren’t going to provide good service.

The Coal Creek Y is a nice facility. There are a lot more people that want to do high intensity/​crossfit style workouts. It’s difficult to do this because it is so crowded and the equipment is always broken or in use. For example there is only one rower as the other one has been broken for months.

This location is so clean, spacious and new looking that it really makes it my favorite Seattle Y location. They always have a small section of their activity pool roped off for children-​which I have yet to find at gyms like LA Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, etc. There are plenty of fresh towels for use and the family changing area is fantastic. I have not yet run into any problems and the service provided has been top notch. There is a small trail leading into the trees from the parking area, which is great as well as a play structure outside. The parking is plentiful and while I have yet to go during truly peak times, I haven’t run into problems waiting for machines and stuff. There are plenty of classes and the variety makes it so you wont get disinterested quickly.

This is probably the nicest Y I’ve ever seen in my life. It’s beautifully designed and architecturally just… beautiful. The inside is huuuuuge with two basketball courts, a lot of rooms for separate classes and a big area for cardio. I went here this morning with my mom as her guest. With your membership, you can bring guests 12 times a year. I did yoga and stretched parts I didnt know I had. They have every equipment and pillow and brick or whatever you could ever need. The yoga room was relaxing, quiet, and had a pretty view of the trees.
They also have a huge pool area. Nice place!

So still nothing has changed! Still broken equipment, still kids, kids and more kids running all over the place! This place should be a family only gym!!! Then let them build an adults only gym! What do they do when they close the place for a whole week??? Might as well have people dressed in clown suits working here to entertain the kids? Where is all of our $$$ going is my question? GET SOME SUPERVISION ON THE 2ND FLOOR ALREADY!!!

There is no doubt that this is a gorgeous facility, however, it is way too crowded. I joined before it was even officially opened and cancelled about 3 mos after it’s opening due to how crowded the pool was. I only go for lap swimming and it is a shame there are just a few lanes for lap swimming open during the day. When I took a tour of this new Y, I told the director that the pool is way too small. Nothing she could do at that point, she said .(and that was Before it was opened to the public).
Fast forward, I rejoined, hoping that the member census had slowed down, and I could Finally get a lane in the lap pool. Mind you, I live in the area and can easily walk there .
I walk in and see a large Gay Pride flag over the front counter. This is NOT Seattle, just a quiet Newcastle community of families. I was appalled, and don’t understand why this has to be so prominently displayed. I am VERY disappointed with the staff that they feel they need to broadcast sexual orientation in a quiet family neighborhood.

Everything is fine except the GYM schedule sucks for basketball. Prime time to play basketball on weekend mornings or late afternoon and you have badminton or family night reserved for zumba or you have little kids not even playing basketball occupying the gym. You have max 5 people playing badminton for 3 and half hours when you could have more than 15 people playing ball for those hours. Just a waste of gym time and space. COME ON MAN LET’S USE THE BASKETBALL COURTS FOR WHAT THEY ARE FOR! BASKETBALL!

Wow, to make matters worse, they now allow kids 8 yo and up to use all of the equipment by themselves as long as a parent is somewhere in the facility. So if your idea of a good workout is to have young kids next to you giggling, texting, and switching buttons constantly, by all means join.
Stop bringing in new members before you service existing ones! While I used to really enjoy this Y, they brought in over 1,000 new members since October with no corresponding increase in classes, parking, childcare hours, etc.
This is a beautiful facility with many great instructors, but many classes are already full 30 minutes before start time and rather than turning people away they crowd more in and ruin it for everyone. Shame on the management. Don’t pay people $ 125 to bring in new members when you are already bursting at the seams.
For the money, I’m considering moving to the Sammamish Club where you get free enrollment when moving over from the Y, for about the same $$. $ 120 a month for this? So not worth it. Not anymore at least.

I have always liked Washington state’s YMCAs. Their motto is great, they are helpful, have great programs and just what I need in the fitness gyms.
However, my experience lately has left me disappointed.
First, a few short months ago I received a letter stating the fees would be slightly increased. Understatement of the year. It grew from $ 88 to $ 100…that’s almost 15%. I, personally, consider that substantial.
Unfortunately our family is now unemployed due to layoffs and we must cancel our membership. I went in to do this today (Monday) and since it’s the beginning of the billing cycle they said they would see *if* they could be sure my account was closed and not charged, and she said she would explain my circumstances. I received a phone call from an apologetic lady yet no such luck. Thanks for the help, Y.
I have faith in our family, we’re strong and we will be fine. When the time comes that we can afford a gym membership again, I will not be returning here.

Lots of classes here and open swim for kids with a kids slide. Work out room for adults is clean, with sitting area with books and magazines. I brought my 9yo son to work out with me — he has been on treadmills and stationary bikes several times. Got chewed out by fellow member and then felt others staring judgmentally at me. Is that a Seattle thing? Also very small cable channel choice on exercise machines

We did the 3-​day guest pass to test the waters out. Great customer service. Clean bathrooms, warm towels available, warm toddler pool! My little one loves it there. Free daycare while we workout! A little pricey but I can see this benefiting our little family of 3. We are signing up!

Horrible membership services. Allow criminals to be members, who turn around and enter locker rooms and cut locks off of locked lockers to steal your items. Gave full notice of my membership to be cancelled and yet they choose not to honor it.

Wow. So this is how Bellevue does YMCAs, huh? Consider me impressed. And envious. Things sure have changed from the local neighborhood Ys I grew up going to!
The cardio equipment is top of the line (most have individual screens), the weight machines and free-​weight areas are clean and modern, there are two basketball courts, a 4-​lane lap pool, all-​day fitness classes — really, everything you could want from a gym. The only issue I’ve found thus far is that everyone wants it all the time, so often machines and weights are hard to come by at peak hours.
Consistent with the Y’s mission, their programs and facilities for kids are outstanding. I personally can’t tell you how freeing it is to drop off my infant, knowing he’s in safe, caring hands, while I go attempt to sweat out the stress caused by having an infant.

Although we’ve had a family membership here for 10 years, the unresponsiveness of staff and management to months of submitted complaints is really the straw that broke the camel’s back. We’re cancelling our membership and going to another gym.
Even though there’s supposedly a policy against reserving exercise equipment and machines in the upstairs workout area, there are hours (5+) on weekdays where members (usually men) will reserve stations that they are not using but are part of their circuit training. They don’t re-​rack their weights and move equipment around in such a way as to make it difficult for others to use the equipment (that they’re not using). Frequent complaints to staff and management go unheeded.
They could simply put up a sign and occasionally directly police infringing members, yet their «Ask Me» staff seem happier to just stand around and joke with each other than actually do anything. This is not just a problem in the mornings but also in the late afternoons during the school year when teenagers get out of school and do the same thing. I’m not willing to drive 40 minutes roundtrip to a facility where 5+ hours of every weekday I have to personally confront jerks who go unpoliced. Especially when there are better located gyms with more workout equipment at a similar price.
I’ve noticed similar difficulty using their lap pool area which is often reserved by swim instructors. Why are we paying so much for a facility whose staff make it difficult to use unless you pay them extra (e.g., for trainers or classes)?
Unless you’re willing to pay extra for a class or a trainer, seems they don’t care to be responsive to their core membership.

Wow! Wow! Wow!
This by far is the fanciest YMCA I have experienced.
Just like its surroundings of lush trees and nearby walking/​biking paths, the décor inside compliments the outside. Rustic décor with exposed beams, rock walls and mental with wood touches are found throughout.
Wide range of services including indoor pool with picture window to watch your swimmers, group exercise rooms, free weights and cardio machines.
I really enjoyed the wellness room where I took my yoga class. Located upstairs, offers gorgeous views of the treetops, air conditioning!!!, and smooth wood flooring. I really enjoyed their sound systems with speakers in the ceilings offering nice relaxing sounds in the group room.
Definitely worth coming here if you frequent this area.

Very happy they put one in new castle. Convenient location and sort of out of the main hustle and bustle.
It gets crowded around 5 – 7 pm. Never had to wait for a treadmill or elliptical but I have come close. They have a good variety of machines and stuff for free weights. I wish there was more but the area isn’t big enough to accommodate.
They have great classes! I have been attending their barre class which I love a lot. I’ve taken a yoga and Pilates class as well. Colleen is the absolute best! She kicks my butt every time and I feel like I’m getting a great workout. Her barre class is more like HIIT than traditional barre fyi. You will leave dripping in sweat and be sore the next day.
The pool is nice. I haven’t been in because it’s always filled with kids taking lessons. There is a hot tub too which I hope to try soon. The pool has a slide and some fountains. The locker rooms are very clean.
The basketball courts always seem to be full with either a class or pick up basketball.
There is always something to do for everyone of all ages.

Very busy pool — rarely any meaningful free swim times. If there ARE open swim times, it seems like they’re late in the evening or in the two foot deep toddler area of the pool. It can be difficult to work out your family’s schedule if you want your bigger kids to have fun on the cool slide when you also have little kids who need to get to bed at a reasonable hour.

A nice YMCA situated in a nice area between Bellevue and Renton. I recently joined, and was told it was built only a few years ago. I only use the workout area and basketball courts, but there’s also a good sized pool and other multi-​purpose rooms.
The workout area is a decent size with new equipment, muscle isolation machines, and lots of treadmills. You don’t have rows and rows of machines like at an LA Fitness, but even during busy hours here you rarely have to line-​up for a machine.
The workout area is by far the cleanest I’ve been to. The staff is polite and helpful, and there are always clean towels available.
The basketball courts are weird. They could have built 1 large gym, with an automated curtain separating the courts at 1 other YMCA I’ve seen or like at nice High Schools, or college gyms. Instead, they have 2 small gyms separated by a large brick wall. The 2 small gyms are big enough to play full-​court basketball, but there are only 4 hoops in all, no hoops on the side you can play on. So if there’s badminton going on in Gym 1, and a full-​court game going in Gym 2, you have to wait out the game. There’s no out of bounds sideline either, the side 3-​point arc just extends into it.
The level of the basketball itself is well below that at Ballys or other gyms. Unless you find some adults to play with, it’s usually just high school aged kids. Expect no defense, no one passing, people running up the court, and just jacking 3s until someone eventually reaches 21.

I have been a member since they opened, but cancelled today. I work out daily and the price keeps going up and the value decreases.
The equipment continues to break and they never fix it. It has gotten overcrowded in general and kids run wild on the equipment so I cannot use it.
Locker room going downhill with same problems with kids and lazy people leaving their nasty towels everywhere.
I’m done. Going somewhere else.

This is actually the first time that I’ve ever been to the Y — yeah, yeah, I know, I was deprived as a child. I signed up for their 3-​day pass to check it out specifically for their Zumba classes. Upon arriving, I was really surprised at how packed the parking lot was! Obviously this is a popular spot filled with families and the parking lot showed it!
The check-​in process was okay — they’re really fairly strict about having you show your ID each and every time. The pool seems like it’s full all the time as well and the Zumba classes were packed! I thoroughly enjoyed the classes taught by Chris & Kitty — they had so much energy and it was high enjoyable! I attended another class taught by this other lady who was definitely not as good as the others: she seemed tired and her movements weren’t all that Latin — I almost felt as though I was at the senior Zumba class!
Although I thoroughly enjoyed my time here and everything is fairly new, I just can’t bring myself to spend $ 60 /​month on membership for the Y when I can go to other, more fancier, gyms for now. Especially since it’s so packed too!
