History
Established in 1965.
The Four Columns was opened in 1965 by Rene and Pierette Chardain as a relaxing haven of natural beauty and culinary excellence. When it was founded, the Four Columns’ focus on locally sourced ingredients and fresh fare made it the originator of the farm to table movement. For almost 40 years, Chef Greg Parks continued to build on this reputation of fresh local fare. Today, our award winning Executive Chef Frederic Keiffer and his local staff are constantly adapting and changing the menu to reflect seasonal ingredients and the harvest of our agricultural neighbors.

Asher is a Texan who came to VT to help reopen the Four Columns, a wonderful destination with a rich history. In addition to the Four Columns, Asher is a letterpress printer and a car guy. Be sure to say hello when you visit Newfane!
