I don’t know what has happened to this place in the last couple of months, but everything about it has gone down the tubes. I’ve been going to Don Cuco’s for years, but their service has become absolutely atrocious of late, and the food and drinks have taken FOREVER the last couple of times my wife and I have gone here… and the food and drinks have never been that great in the first place. Sadly, I don’t think I will be coming back again, and will be seeking a new Mexican Restaurant to frequent.

The go to place for a satisfying dinner with consistently good food. Love the sauce they pour all over the burrito! Usually have the burrito and fajitas. All tastes like it’s made fresh. I don’t get a reaction from their food — it’s very clean with no flavor enhancers. One star off for too fast a service. They do rush you sometimes.

I love the salads with their jalapeño ranch dressing. GEORGE is such a cool server, he makes me feel welcome every time I visit.

My wife and I tried this restaurant in our never ending quest for really good Mexican cuisine in the SCV. Not bad, but nothing we’d be in any hurry to try again. Better then most we’ve tried out here though.

This is me and my wife’s go to place in Santa Clarita for authentic Mexican food and good drinks. The waiters and waitresses are always friendly and attentive making us wanting to come back for more. Get there by 4 or 5 for happy hour especially if you’re into sports. There’s numerous tv’s with different sports always going. They never disappoint. The margaritas are good and my wife’s go to. My drink there is the CuCo Punch. If you’re a rum drinker try this

Service was great! We had a big group last minute and they accommodated us very quickly. Food was very good. One complaint about margaritas being TOO strong but that earns another star in my book. Meatball soup was great. Soft tacos al carbon were good too!!!

I wasn’t expecting much when my wife & I decided to come here for a quick Mexican food dinner with the kids on a Friday evening. When we walked in, it was packed, including the bar area. There was a soccer game playing. We were seated in the restaurant immediately, no wait. The table was a little cramped but we made the best of it. Our server, Juan, was great. He took our order quickly and came back frequently to check on us. Both my wife and I were amazed at the size and great taste of my enchiladas sonora. She got a combo plate that she was happy with, and we got my daughter a kids taco plate. All were hearty and tasted good. The margaritas were huge, but just tasted ok. But we all left with full bellies and smiles on our faces. I remember coming to various Don Cucos when I was younger, but this time, they exceeded my expectations!

Fantastic Mexican food establishment. The food is fantastic but, the best part about this place is the salsa(best salsa I’ve had at a resteraunt) and the margaritas. Went here hundreds of times growing up in Valencia. Staff is great. No complaints at all. I now live in Moorpark and have a Don Cuco’s right up the street here as well. I’ll be posting another positive review for that soon! Keep up the good work!

Food is really good for this franchise. I have eaten at Burbank location and this Newhall one for many years now and have always had a good experience. Tonight had Mariscos burrito with an amazing sauce on it. When I enquired the waiter says it only goes on my burrito and a shrimp taco. Wife had a really good Mexican chicken salad and son had shredded beef taco, all very good. Get there early, gets very busy with long waits but food is worth it. Service was also very attentive and restaurant was dim but quaint, Aloha

I just love this place. Super happy staff. Really good and strong margaritas. Good food. This will always be one of my favorite places to go for Mexican food.

I had high hopes but definitely was let down. The food was over priced. The fajitas witch they recommend highly where actually the worst I’ve ever had. Fajitas are meant to be served hot or at least with some sizzling presentation. Just very disappointment in getting cold food. The only upside is the drinks where good. The waiter was also very good. Just the kitchen and facility needs some attention. This place is ok but spend your money in a better place. It’s not authentic Mexican at all. The concept is there but the taste is far from it. Oh and the salsa they serve with chips. You can taste it comes from a can. Major turn off.

There’s so many wonderful Mexican restaurants in Southern California. Unfortunately, Don Cuco’s isn’t one of them. It’s slightly below average and overpriced, but does offer good service. My friends that have been here more times than I call it «whatever» Mexican. There’s nothing on the menu that wows them. And, nothing that is terrible, either. After coming once with a buddy for lunch, we simply found no reason to return. The food we had at places like Rubio’s and Poquito Mas was better. I tried the roasted carnitas in green chili sauce, took a few bites and left the rest of it. The pork was tender, but there was more fat than meat. And, having tried green chili sauce in New Mexico, this was the poorest I’ve had. The meat was poor, at best. On the other hand, there’s nothing wrong with the rice/beans and enchiladas my friend had. It was your typical dish that’s cheaper at other places. In reality, if you come here with the family, no one is going to complain. It’s slightly below average Mexican, which is pretty common in Santa Clarita. Meanwhile, for the prices charged we deserve a better meal. If you enjoy average Mexican, with decent chips and salsa, and tend to order two chicken tacos with rice and beans, you won’t notice that it’s not top notch. If that’s the case, give it a try. You’ll dig the service.

I really don’t like giving a negative review. I do not go into a restaurant with a chip-on-my-shoulder looking for problems. I just want to eat good food and report this to you, dear reader. Here, in a nutshell, is what I found during my lunch today: 1) The salad had the stem of the iceberg lettuce(inedible) in on the plate. Clearly, it was not caught by the kitchen staff or the server. 2) The pomegranate dressing is horrible(and I do like pomegranate. You might like this dressing. I did not). 3) The two seafood enchiladas($ 18) that tasted very fresh. However, the tasteless sauce offset any positive flavor notes. 4) Black beans out of a can in a small bowl with cilantro is something anyone can prepare. I expect better from a restaurant. Make me want to come back. Entice me with the food. Make my taste buds explode with flavor. 5) Men’s room: urinal wrapped in plastic(out of order). 6) The plantain pieces were exceptionally greasy(as though cooked in Penzoil). Onwards and upwards…

Went last night for the first time in years. I could not believe the outrageous prices! $ 20 burritos, almost $ 6 tacos! We were starving and figured since we were there anyway might as well get something. We ordered food to go as we had a very cranky baby. I ordered the 2 taco combination plate and my bf ordered some egg thing, not sure what it was. Got home and my rice and beans were missing. The tacos were simply OK, and the side salad was literally just lettuce. Needless to say, we won’t be going back. If I’m gonna pay those kind of prices, I expect better quality food

Working in the neighborhood used my handy Unilocal and decided to eat some delicious Mexican food for lunch. This place is simply beautiful. I was greeted at the door. I ordered the especial faitas. The staff here is wonderful. The food was off the chain.

I’m not sure if it was just a bad night but the food was terrible. Yes, the staff is fast and friendly but you mainly come here for the Mexican food. I had the Yucatecan Tilapia. It was served luke warm and had a soggy, oily batter on it. We also orded the flauta with rice and beans. It was very bland and way OVERPRICED. The only good thing was the albondiga soup. Apparently there is no quality control in the kitchen. Everything tasted old or reheated.(No offense to my paisanos but seriously, you have to take pride in everything you put out.) This is the last time I will eat there. This is by far the worst tasting, most over priced Mexican food I have had in a while. We paid $ 37(Including soft drinks) Not worth the price. Save your money and go elsewhere until management steps up their game and improves what comes out of that kitchen. Service=4 Stars Food=1
