Where do you begin when everything you get at Oak House is fabulous!? Begin w the duck confit poutine. and share it bc it is huge. We balanced it w a beet salad that was fresh, tasty and beautiful. The dishes are simply presented but complex in flavors and well priced. We had the brisket grilled cheese which was imo medium spicy, just right. Also the Korean pork was rich and sweet, and even the burger looked great altho my daughter polished it off before I could get a bite. Contrary to earlier reviews the service was stellar, Kala was kind and efficient. Great beer, wine and cocktail selection. Looking forward to our next visit w Chef Tyler and his team.

Dear Oak House, Please accept this review as constructive criticism; not a scorned diner looking to exact some revenge with a bit of wannabe foodie internet vitriol. I want to love you. I really, really do. But after, 6 visits or so, I can only like you. I didn’t dislike the Lamprey before you. It was great for weekend breakfast with cheap booze and the occasional $ 5 burger night. It was dirty as hell though. So, when you opened all fresh and clean with a simple, but modern gastropubish menu and good beers, I was in lust. On the surface you are everything I want for a new hang in town. But, the lust hasn’t progressed to love; it’s regressed to like because of a few simple things. Basic stuff. Purchase a proper pepper mill and make it available to your guests. Shaker on the table pepper sucks. If you’re going to serve pasta on the menu, offer some fresh grated cheese. Learn to properly cook a crispy french fry; haven’t had one at your establishment yet. Lastly, learn the difference between casual, yet friendly service and hipster indifference towards the customer. The service is always merely fine. Never bad, but never great either. I know you’ve got it in you to be so much better. Hope to see it soon.

I’ve only been here once. They have great food and a great beer selection! The place is a touch small, so larger parties may have to wait. The only thing that made me not give this place 5 stars is that we waited about 40 minutes for a Reuben and a burger. When the food came out, it was great, but it took a little too long to actually get to our table!

Great experience and had fun. Wait person was prompt and attentive with good beer suggestions. The smoked wings were my favorite. I am so used to ordering wings and getting the same thing everywhere we go. Not the case here, whole wings that are locally sourced and smoked to mouth watering goodness, Yummy. I highly suggest this establishment, get there early, it tends to fill up fast in the evening, but worth the wait. Great Job to the owners and staff, keep up the good work.

Food is fantastic, but we waited almost an hour for a table after being told«about 20 minutes.» That was fine. We had a beer, played some bumper pool, didn’t mind the wait too much. The host did apologize and keep giving us updates which was nice. We started getting frustrated when we finally got a table and service was really, really slow. The waitress had to be asked for everything… empty water glasses, we had to ask for water, messy wings, we had to ask for extra napkins, etc. All the food we ordered from wings to dessert was fantastic, but they were out of Poutine and out of Tiramisu. The Pork Belly BLT was delicious as were the wings, burger, and Miso Pork Belly. The Beet Risotto was good, but too oniony for our taste. We loved the food and will definitely give it another try. Prices are reasonable, and beer selection is excellent. The atmosphere and food are an A+, but they need to fix the service.

Wee went in the first week it opened. Food was very good and service was very good. The prices are ok. More than the former restaurant in that place though

First time here and wow, incredible! Has a farm to table type feel, and a good variety to choose from. I got a salad with lentil«meatballs» which were positively delicious! The beverage selection was great as well, I’m a big craft beer fan and they host a local brewer who has some good choices. Definitely will be back soon

As has been said before, the beer selection is interesting, and definitely worth a visit. Went there at lunchtime, and sampled from the lunch menu. Service was prompt, alert and polite. However, all the food items our table sampled were on the wrong side of being too greasy or salty; that seemed to be the case for neighboring tables also. We will probably try again once they have had time to find their feet.

Excellent food and service! The poutine was superb and a good portion. I had the brisket grilled cheese which was also quite good. I would also highly recommend the almond tiramisu.

Tasty foods, friendly professional service and warm atmosphere. I love when restaurants take pride in their foods. A beautiful bar and just enough flat screens. The grilled cheese with pulled pork was mouth watering as well as the OH Burger!

Sadly, my experience here was mediocre. Boy, did I want to like this place! I live across the street and would be a loyal customer IF they could at least give me SOMETHING to hang my hat on. The beer selection is great, so there’s that. They serve Mead on tap(a first for me). As a beekeeper, I’ll tell you it’s pretty commercial tasting Mead(read that BLAND), but Kudos for carrying it. I’ll be back for that. The food was not awesome. The fries were soggy. I wanted to scream at them that they are doing it all wrong. They clearly try to do them from scratch, so they serve them after the FIRST frying. WRONGO! After the first frying, NOW they are ready to be re-fried into perfect crispy chips. But hey, what do I know? I only owned a restaurant for fifteen years. The Brisket and Cheese sandwich was mostly bread. Gotta work on those proportions. The Chicken sandwich was better. Nice job. When I left tonight NOBODY said«goodbye» or «thanks for coming.» I even stood at the door to give my waitress the opportunity to say something, but she was busy clearing the table 5ft away from me. Yes, she saw me. Earlier when I needed another beer, she wasn’t behind the bar; she was sitting down at the other end of the bar eating HER dinner. If you come to our nice little town and want to be appreciated for patronizing an establishment, then go to Kume Bistro. THEYALWAYS appreciate their customers. If you want an OK sandwich in an OK joint, then come here. At least they TRIED to put lipstick on the pig by installing Perko floors, new bathroom doors and«updated» booths in their recent renovation. I’d rather they had put their investment into menu development and staff training. I truly WANT them to do well. But it’s gonna take some work.

When 2 entire crabs show up on your sandwhich, it’s a win! Their draft beer selection was pretty good, their bottle list is even better. The place is open and bright, I really loved the long tree slab tables. And ur waitress was awesome!

Great food. People have to be kind and realize the fact that they just opened. Growing pains with any new restaurant is expected.

They just opened– people need to calm their tatas on their negative points. The food was incredible and worth the price for sure. They have a wide variety of unique cocktails and love that they carry Deciduous beer. Local supporting local! The vibe is extremely hip and cozy and the owner(one of them) was out front greeting people. Honestly everyone needs to watch the South Park episode about Unilocal reviewers… Well done Oakhouse– 5 stars for you, you go Oak House!

My boyfriend and I visited Oak House one of the first weekends the restaurant opened. We were excited to try out the new, local hot spot. As to be expected, the restaurant was busy. We waited 20 min outside(thank goodness it was a warm night) as there isn’t much space to wait for a table inside. Heads up– there are a couple community tables where small parties can be sat European style. The host will ask if you would prefer a booth. We were pleasantly surprised to find a wide selection of beers(including local beers/mead) and a small, but diverse menu. I tried the mead on tap and was very pleasantly surprised. We shared the cheese, pickle and bread plate. The cheeses were excellent– especially the aged cheddar. I’m a big fan of pickles and was happy to see fresh red pepper, cucumber, and baby onion pickles. My boyfriend ordered the OH Burger and I ordered the chicken sandwich. Both were great. Our server was very busy, but friendly. It was clear the kitchen was in the weeds because it took 45 minutes for our food to come out. This was mildly irksome, but understandable as the restaurant was still working out the kinks of service. Our waitress generously comped our dinners. Oak House will definitely become one of our regular dinner spots.

We went here on Saturday night and decided to wait the half an hour for a seat. Once we were seated our server was right over, she was very nice and helpful with my questions about the beer(they carry 3 beers from the local brewery on tap!) We started with 3 oysters(choice of sweet, spicy, and i don’t remember the third choice), we got one of each. We weren’t told which was which and I wasn’t expecting one to be fried — they don’t tell you that on the menu. They were ok, not great, not terrible. My boyfriend got the chicken sandwich and I got the seasonal vegetables and had them add fried lentil balls. My boyfriend liked his sandwich a lot but mine was terrible. The three veggies in the dish were Brussels sprouts, pumpkin, and kale. It was so unbelievably bland. There was a little bit of oil in it, but that’s it. Just dry veggies… Except for the lump of kale on top. It was steamed(yuck) and to make it worse, it was WAY over steamed. I tried to eat it, but I couldn’t… As soon as I bit into this limp olive-green colored kale a burst of warm water just filled my mouth. I was so disappointed. Kale should be bright and crisp… Never ever ever steamed. The lentil balls were extremely burnt and again, very bland. Nothing was seasoned, nothing had a sauce. But we packed it all to go because I hate wasting food and I re-cooked it at home with some salt and pepper. We then got Washington Apple shots and the check. The shots were served to us in beer taster glasses… No shot glasses? Okay. My boyfriend said his chicken sandwich was awesome though. I probably wouldn’t be back for dinner, but I wouldn’t mind a beer or two.
