Dr. Chesnie is a board certified cardiologist and lipidologist who has practiced in Newport Beach for 30 years. He specializes in lipid managment, arrhythmia management, and all cardiology based care. He has been the Chairman of the Department of Cardiology at Hoag Hospital for the past 10 years.

History

Established in 1985.

Dr. Chesnie has provided excellence of care and compassion to the patients of Orange County for 30 years.

He is the Chairman of Cardiology is on the Medical Executive Committee at Hoag Hospital and is working in solo practice, which is truly a treasure in this era of large group environments.

Dr. Chesnie is a University of Toronto and Harvard trained cardiologist with board certification from the Royal College of Physicians of Canada as well as the American College of Physicians.

He established the electrophysiology programs in several Orange County Hospitals and therefore has a deep understanding of managing arrhythmias. He did the first ablation procedures in Orange County and he introduced the implantable defibrillator to this area. He was the founding Medical Director of electrophysiology at Hoag Hospital. In addition, he is also a board certified lipidologist and works with patients on coronary risk assessment and heart disease prevention.

Dr. Chesnie is from Toronto and Vicky is from Huntington Beach. They have worked together for 23 years and are happily married. Together they share 5 amazing children ages 19 – 35. Two sons are in the military– AirForce and Navy. They have two beautiful grandchildren. In addition to providing top-​notch care to their patients, the Chesnies enjoy music, movies, watching formula 1 racing, and enjoying fun, relaxing quality time with family and friends.

I went to see Dr Chesnie and was extremely impressed with his staff. I’m even more impressed with the Dr. himself. I am virtually and literally putting my life in his hands. I found out that I have serious heart issues, yet I left his office feeling confident that I am in the best of hands. I have to say that my consultation was the best experience that I have ever had with any Dr’s office ever!

I met Dr. Chesnie for the first time on Tuesday. From the moment I walked in, I knew I was in for a great experience. The front office staff was an absolute delight. I only waited 5 minutes to be seen. Instead of being seated on a table in the room, I was seated in a comfy recliner. My vitals, Ekg, and check by the doctor was all done in the recliner! Dr Chesnie was so nice and really listened and I did not feel rushed. I am so thankful I have found him.

Dr. Chesnie is, without a doubt, one of the best doctors my wife and I have. He is patient, puts you at ease, listens to you, and is extremely knowledgeable and detailed. Excellent experience! Professional and courteous. The front office staff was exemplary. This Doctor took the time to explain everything to my satisfaction and at a level very well understood. Every stage had my best interest in mind. For some the truth is hard to hear. For me this is what was appreciated most. Dr. Chesnie has my back and will do his best to solve our problems. He even confirmed information with other specialists. If you need a good cardiologist that cares and will follow up, look no further.

I experienced nothing but kind, thorough, professional behavior from Dr. Chesnie, his staff, and his sub-​contractors. He ran comprehensive tests before giving a final recommendation, and explained in patient-​appropriate language how he came to his conclusions, how and why regarding medications and exercise.
If I run into anyone looking for a good cardiologist, I would recommend him in a heartbeat. Pun intended.

I have been a patient of Dr. Chesnie for some time now for treatment of A/​Fib. He is a physician who treats his patients like human beings rather than a number. He not only takes the time to explain my progress to me but to my wife also when she accompanies me. His cozy office atmosphere and friendly assistant Vickie make you feel at ease as soon as you walk through the door. I just completed a series of heart screening tests, all of which were conducted at the doctor’s office rather than some lab, all the more to put you at ease. I would recommend Dr. Chesnie to anyone in need of cardiac care.

Today I went to see Dr. Chesnie for my follow up treadmill. I am constantly overwhelmed by his kindness and generosity, and the time he spends with you to really understand what is complicating the issue — in my case, of what I call my heart bumping and jumping. I brought in my iphone with some recordings I had taken on a heart rate app and he sat with me and looked at them, and explained it to me in a way I could understand, and be reassured. He stands right next to you during the treadmill and explains everything clearly. He did adjust my medication and I must admit, I don’t like changing or adjusting medication when one is working, but I already feel better. He allayed my fears and anxiety, while providing exceptional medical care. He has a unique ability to see the emotional component without discounting the physical manifestations. It just doesn’t get any better than this

Not sure what’s up with this Dr. but he moves his office quite frequently. I called around to find a Dr. & when I called this office, they said they included an EKG in their initial visit rate. Well, that turns out NOT to be true. My bill was NOT what was quoted over the phone and of course when the insurance company looked into it, they deny, deny, deny.
In addition, when I went in for my exam the EQUIPTMENT WAS BROKEN, confirmed by PA doing the exam, as she got a little frustrated retesting & again by the DR. when I asked what my «readings were», prior to leaving the office. Of course, they billed the insurance company & again when questioned by the insurance company, the Dr. office provided an EKG reading, which is amazing, because it’s not MINE!

Doctor Chesnie has been my cardiologist for almost 10 years. I was told by my general physician during a routine physical that he thought I had a «silent heart attack». Naturally I was disturbed, and when I told my wife about it, she told me she had a friend with heart problems, and she would ask her for a recommendation. Her friend recommended Dr. Chesnie, and when I called his office and asked if I could see the Doctor, I was told that he was very busy they but would «work me in» as soon as I could get there. I saw him that same afternoon. I had NOT had a heart attack at all! Dr. Chesnie put me on medications for my a-​fib, and managed it for almost 8 years. In 2012 my a-​fib became quite bad and Dr. Chesnie set me up for an ablation. I had the surgery in April of 2012, and I have been healthy and a-​fib free for the last two years! Doctor Chesnie is a good hearted man who spends time with his patients and responds to their needs. As far as I am concerned he is the BEST! Thanks, Dr. Chesnie!

STAY AWAY FROM THIS MAN! I now wear a pacemaker because of him. He is a Harvard graduate and is rude and arrogant. He did an EP study on my heart with an ablation. I ended up worse off because of him. He gave me TOO MANY burns in my heart during an ablation. As a result, my AV node was damaged and I ended up with a pacemaker. I suffered for a whole year trying to avoid the pacemaker and praying my AV node would heal. After a whole year of feelilng really sick, I ended up with a pacemaker. I sued him but my case was thrown out of court because I missed my statute of limitations by two weeks. I didn’t want to sue him and all I thought about was getting better. When I ended up with the pacemaker, I sued but my «time to sue had run out.» He never apologized for what he did nor did he ever offer to pay for my medical bills. I just had my third pacemaker implanted and am still paying off my hospital bills as a result of my surgery. He got away with it and is still practicing medicine. HOW SCARY! Do yourself a favor and stay away from him. DO NOT GET IMPRESSED BY HIS NEWPORT BEACH OFFICE AND HARVARD DEGREE. HE IS A CROOK! SAD THAT HE HAD GOTTEN AWAY WITH IT!

rude office, doctor is very impatient, rude and unprofessional and does not understand simple concepts like what medication he prescribes. In fact he did not understand that a name brand medication he prescribed is the same as the generic brand. A little frightening when you think about the fact that one is visiting his office to get help for a serious medical condition. What is the oath doctors are supposed to take to never do harm to anyone? Think he missed out (or skipped) the class that teaches the Hippocratic Oath – do no harm. This guy does a lot of harm. Oh, and just try to get your medical records from the office. They will stonewall and harass you every step of the way. Weeks after my repeated and a written requests, I finally received records – they were illegible. I wonder who sent those? Sad to think that some doctors go into the medical profession for reasons other than to help their patients. Or maybe he was just having a bad day? OUCH! Hope he doesn’t have to many of those!
