Dana J. Rockey, D.M.D. offers a full array of dental services to help you maintain healthy teeth. Your initial oral examination includes a visual examination, charting, periodontal probing, diagnosis and treatment recommendations. We will also take x-​rays, which includes the panoramic x-​ray for proper diagnosis of the anterior (front) and posterior (back) teeth as well as the bite-​wing x-​ray series for proper diagnosis of proximal decay of posterior teeth.

Established in 2003.

Dana J. Rockey, D.M.D. has been working with patients to provide the best dental care for patients in the Rancho Santa Margarita area. Dr. Rockey’s experience in dentistry is coupled with genuine concern for his patients. All our staff is dedicated to your comfort and prompt attention as well. Our goal is to keep your teeth healthy and your smile bright.

Dr. Rockey received his Bachelors Degree in biological sciences from UC Irvine in 1977. He began his dental career in 1984 after graduating from Washington University School of Dental Medicine in St. Louis. Dr. Rockey has enjoyed establishing practices and practicing dentistry in Burbank and San Marino prior to 2003, when a new opportunity presented itself here in Southern Orange County. Dr. Rockey, his wife, Peggy Anne and their twin sons, Griffin and Skyler, reside in the local south county area. He enjoys the opportunity to live in such a wonderful community and to practice the high level of dentistry he has trained for and believes in.

I love coming to get my teeth cleaned by JoEllen. She is so gentle and nice to talk to. She is the only one I’ve let clean my teeth for the last. geez I don’t know, 10 years?
Dr Rocky is also very nice. He did a beautiful job on my front crowns and veneers, people don’t even know my teeth aren’t mine! I’ve had a very problematic mouth, and a terrible, awful, horrible quack of a dentist before finding Dr Rocky.

I used to have Dr. Rockey when I lived in orange county 5 years ago. They always manage to call me aboutI a check up, so when my son travels to California for the summer he always makes his way to Dr. Rockey. Amazing Dentist. I am so glad I found Dr. Rockey. He took the time to explain to me what he thought the best treatment plan was and answered all my questions. Jennifer and Holly couldn’t be any nicer and helpful. the gal who did my Xrays was a complete pleasure to talk with and my hygienist was knowledgeable and so friendly.
I felt very welcomed and my xrays started right away. The equipment is state of the art and the atmosphere is very relaxing. I feel very comfortable with Dr. Rockey and would highly recommend this professional office.

My old dentist is in Newport Beach and hard to get an appointment with, and I was looking for a good dentist in the area close to my workplace. One of my co workers recommend this dental office. Dr. Rockey and his staff are really nice and welcoming! I get super nervous going to the dentist and especially going to a new one, but he made me feel right at home! It was my first time here and Dr Rockey came out to the waiting area and introduced himself to me while I was filling out my paperwork. The blonde dental hygienist (I forgot her name) was super sweet and made sure I was comfortable during my cleaning. She was really thorough and took her time on the cleaning and X-​rays. Like I said this was my first time here, but I felt like they really cared about me and my dental health. I booked an appointment for 6 months from now because they have earned my business as a patient. Thanks for the great care!

I love Dr. Rockey and the entire staff. They are ALWAYS on time. Holly is very efficient and friendly. What I like best is Dr. Rockey keeps a close eye on my «problem» areas and lets me know that I SHOULD have a procedure done but does not press the issue without making me feel guilty if I cannot have it done at that time. I and my family have been going there for 15 years.

Prior to finding Dr. Rocky my husband was on the 5 year plan for the dentist. He would go every 5 years, or when he was in a great deal of pain. Now he goes every six months. Dr. Rocky is a great dentist, very skilled, kind, and patient. His staff is helpful and they are accommodating to your work/​life schedules. He has created a fun office atmosphere which makes it much easier to make and keep appointments on a regular basis. The personal touch, remembering your name, your employer, what you like to do for vacation makes it seem like they really care about you. Going to the dentist is never easy but if you have to go — you might as well visit Dr. Rocky.

Today was my annual visit for x-​rays, plus a cleaning. I can’t say enough good things about Dr. Rockey, JoEllen, and the entire staff. I have been going to Dr. Rockey and team for years. They all know me and treat me very well. They are thorough, knowledgeable, helpful, and best of all have improved the health of my mouth. We planned to replace old failing fillings over the course of a couple of years, which was completed several years ago. It has made me feel better and I have had no issues since. I actually enjoy going to the dentist thanks to Dr. Rockey!

I came to Dr. Rockey after years in the military and suspect dental care from other dentists over the years. Needless to say I have spent quite a lot of time with Dr. Rockey and every bit of it was well spent. He and his staff have my dental health back up to where it should be and my teeth have never looked better or, better for me, felt better. I can’t say enough about his expertise and thoroughness related to my teeth or about his thoughtfulness as a person. First rate care and work. Highly recommend!

Dentists are difficult to love and we procrastinate to get up and go see them because of the zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz, drilling and the shhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh, shooooooooooooooooooooo­o, sound of the water and the suction gulping the water and whatever junk is coming off the teeth.
We wait until the last moment until we visit a dentist.
Dr. Rockey is an incredibly gifted dentist. He has the most steady hands. He fixed my wife’s bad work from Dr. Ed Samra. He also worked on my mouth. He has an excellent hygienist who knows the art of cleaning teeth. I always felt good after leaving my appointment, examination, teeth cleaning, etc. when I left Dr. Rockey’s office.
He has very helpful staff.

Dr. Rockey is great, but the girls Jennifer and Holly have attitudes. Holly is in billing and I used to hate dealing with her and dealing with Jennifer when making an appointment was a process. Well, now I don’t because I decided to find a new dentist. I shouldn’t have to cringe at the thought of going to an office just because I liked the dentist and the dentist only. Plus, they are a rip off. They want to do work to your teeth that isn’t even necessary (came to find out when I went to my new dentist).

I have never enjoyed going to the dentist as much as I enjoy going here. The front desk staff are always warm and welcoming and the dental hygienists are terrific. They will put a numbing gel on your gums if you are sensitive and they hand you the remote to your own personal TV before they get to work. And Dr. Rockey is very friendly — he always stops by my chair to say hi, even if he doesn’t have to do any work on me. These people are the best!
