Dr. Davis specializes and is an expert in Davanloo’s Intensive Short-​Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (IS-​TDP) which has evidence based research proving it’s efficacy. (Psychiatric Annals-​Nov. 2013-​Vol. 43. No: 11). He has also published numerous articles on Davanloo’s IS-​TDP in the International Journal of Short-​Term Psychotherapy.

Dr. Davis has been a psychiatrist in Orange County for 35 years and has been practicing in Newport Beach for 18 years. He is a seasoned physician with a breadth of clinical experience treating inpatients, outpatients, adolescents, and adults. When it comes to psychotherapy, Dr. Davis is very compassionate and understanding. As a life long learner, he has been committed to keeping his clinical skills sharp. He has continued to take in-​depth clinical training in diagnostics, dynamic psychotherapy and medication management. His practice is now limited to adult outpatients.

Dr. Davis is a very caring and compassionate doctor. I have found it very easy to talk to him and it is obvious that he knows what he is doing. His secretary Barbara has always been pleasant to me and very helpful. If you are looking for a psychiatrist, I would highly recommend Dr. Davis. His office is conveniently located and has easy parking, no hassle like other offices in the area.

I rarely write reviews on Unilocal but because of my betterment of life I felt compelled to tell my story. I have seen various therapists at different junctures in my life however none have helped and supported me like Dr Davis. I went thru half my life in and out of depression not knowing why. Dr. Davis was able to bring me into gradual awareness identifying most of the root causes of my depression and also prescribed the right medication that works best for me. Dr Davis treatment modality helped me change my life. He created a safe comfortable environment that gave me strength to face my fears to peel away the onion of sadness. I continue to see Dr. Davis but not as regularly because I am much healthier and happier. In addition, Barbara, his right hand lady is amazing as well. She is thoughtful and always has a smile to offer. She bent over backwards to get me in to see the doctor several times including when I had a crises. I am also grateful for the supportive touch she offers as well. Thank you Dr Davis and staff!!!

This review is so long overdue. I’ve been a patient of Dr. Davis’s for over a year now. I first found him on Unilocal and Google. Because my disorder is so complex, I needed a doctor who not only knows what he/​she is doing, but also has a dedicated mind and compassionate heart for their patients. I’ve found this in Dr. Davis. He is my 3rd doctor I’ve ever had in my life for my disorder, in the 20 years since I was diagnosed. He has educated me further in the world of my disorder. He is a very nice and genuine human being, that happens to know almost everything in his specialties. Since becoming his patient, I’ve felt even better mentally and I’m more balanced. He is the best psychiatrist I’ve had period. He is punctual and you are out of there in a timely manner.
His assistant, Barbara, is a sweetheart with compassion. No matter how busy she gets, she will always make time for all patients needing assistance and answering questions. I’ve never had any problems with her, nor will I ever. Having her there is icing on the cake for a great overall pleasant experience, on my monthly visits. They both put a smile on my face after each visit. They are both a gem.
If you suffer from any anxiety or other mental disorders, I highly recommend Dr. Davis.

I have to agree with another review by David. I never got the chance to see this doctor because the the secretary was so rude. Her name was Barbara. I have never ever had someone talked to me like that over them phone; all I was trying to do making an appointment with this doctor and agreed to pay $ 400 for an assessment test. She only gives me one option to schedule the appointment, so I politely asked may I schedule sow thing next week and she rudely cut me off and said NO, we don’t go that far .
I was like Nevermind, this woman needs serious help and if people who work for this doctor are this crazy and nuts then I will be ok not seeing this doctor.

Dr. Davis is amazing. After a few sessions he figured out why I was having trouble sleeping and focusing. He ordered a sleep study and we were able to begin finding a solution that required little to no medicine. Additionally, he makes it a point to follow up with you on his own time to make sure things are going as they should. Thanks to doc, I’m able to sleep better and focus at optimal levels. I love that the doc is always looking to better my life without the use of medicines. I give doc Davis my full endorsement!!!

I never even got the chance to see the dr due to the incredibly rude secretary who answered the phone. I was describing my emotions and she said I think you’re better going somewhere else. We don’t specialize in bipolar which is odd considering it says it is his specialty. This is not to rag on the doctor, but his staff. A chain is as weak as its weakest link, and after my conversation with the front desk, this chain couldn’t support the weight of a paper clip.
I had no interaction with the doctor but for the kind of money they charge, I expect quality service from the staff as well. Thanks for making my choice on where to go that much easier Ms secretary.

What a great therapist! I highly recommend Dr. David Davis! First of all I love that he has a great sense of humor, which makes him so easy to talk to. You don’t feel intimidated at all.
I try to live a healthy life, so I love that he is more health conscious & conservative with medication. He tries to get to the root of the problem & uses natural approaches whenever possible. He has extensive training in therapy, so he’s very knowledgeable & has great insight… and…
he’s very sensitive, caring, perceptive, understanding, straightforward, & not condemning.

My experience with Dr. Davis is that he not only has extensive knowledge of psychiatry, but a man of integrity as well. I’ve dealt with other MD’s about how the brain works, and his mindset goes way beyond your typical «meds first» psychiatric approach.
