El Monte RV Rentals

We have rented RV’s before but this was our first Experience with El Monte RV Rentals. There is clearly a reason why Robert’s name is mentioned over and over and over again. Simply put… he just get’s it. He knows how to treat people. He listens, is kind, is helpful, and just seems to simply enjoy his job and wants to do the right thing. Robert is simply an amazing human being. We all could learn something from him. Thank you Robert… it’s people like you that restore our faith that Customer Service is still alive!

Absolutely amazing customer service. Everyone is extremely helpful kind and considerate. Will absolutely recommend and use them again. Wasn’t an rvr before but will be now. Love the experience and their services. ¹⁰⁄₁₀. Great!!!

This was our first time renting an RV, chose El Monte because it had slightly higher ratings than Cruise America. Took one of three kids, our 6 year old daughter so that it wouldn’t be too stressful. Got the C22. Was plenty big for us, although we could have used some slide outs when it was at the RV park. (One rear-​end only kitchen space if you know what I mean.) The guys at El Monte, Newport Beach were very professional and tried to help us with all our requests. Went to the Grand Canyon. Was nice and cool there so no need for AC too much but in Kingman, AZ, we needed it at night and we couldn’t figure out how to get between blasting freezing and stuffy hot. So the AC was a little nutty, and we couldn’t use the RV tv unless you had hookups or the generator, so I wished we had brought our little portable movie player. The RV as a whole was new, although a few things broke on us, the shade over the sink and the AC side covers were cheaply made. Overall, we had more fun than I predicted and less hassle than I predicted. I’d do it again with my two sons along.

My family and I rented a 30 ft Class C RV from this El Monte location for a camping trip at San Clamente Beach. I was a little nervous after pouring over the reviews for both El Monte and Cruise America. The RV was a little older than I expected (2006 model), but I was relieved it was clean and everything on it worked as described.
I have some RV experience, but never rented one before. The process was seamless and Robert at this location took absolutely great care of me and my family. I was worried about the deposit and being «dinged» for things on the return, like was it swept out just right, or there was sand from the beach in the shower, etc… Robert told me they were not into nickle and diming and the return process would be very straight forward.
The walk around was very informative and they answered every question I had. The rig was clean and functional. We had no issues driving to the beach and setting up camp. We «dry camped» at a large group site, so we had no hookups, but the water pump and generator were awesome to have and worked perfectly.
We had absolutely no problems with the RV, other than the normal wear and tear one would expect on a 2006 rental. It was in surprisingly good shape, given this thing spends its life with new owners every week… Upon return I called and asked about a late return, since our flight did not leave until later in the day. Robert and his crew were very gracious and allowed us to return at 1 pm instead of 11 am. I was even 15 minutes later than that due to traffic, but again no issues or charges.
To sum it up, I received the RV I reserved, for the price I expected, with EXCELLENT customer service. The return process was as described and they didn’t even let my wife finish sweeping it out, said they would take care of it for no charge… No sneaky charges, no damage deposit kept, left with a balance of $ 0 due just like they said.
I would give them 5 stars if the rig were newer and they had a shuttle to John Wayne Airport. We had a great vacation and I will definitely rent from El Monte RV again!
FYI Tip — they told me if I had rented a 31 ft, as opposed to a 30 ft, it would have been a 2012 model or newer. They had one on their lot and it sure looked pretty. I would definitely pay for the upgrade in the future.

Horrible service and rentals. DO NOT rent from here. It started with Robert, the manager, not telling us when the RV would be ready even though the co tract said to call between 8:30 — 9:30 am on day of pick up to find out time. After still not having an answer at 1:00pm, I called corporate and the it was ready. All the while we couldn’t start our vacation.
The back bay location is not a rental a normal location. It’s in an rv park and the rentals are brought in. That was part of the delay. Then it took Robert over 30 mins to do 5 mins of paperwork for us because he kept taking calls and talking to the other rep who was just sitting there. Then ½ way through showing us the features of the rv, Robert left to help someone else and has the other rep finish which was basically saying ok you can go.
I was disappointed in rv. It was old and clearly well used. The unit was over 6 years old.
The 2^nd day of trip the panel showing waster and tank levels stopped working. This was annoying since our campsite had no hook ups. I called «roadside assistance» for help to assist but was told no one could fix it and I would need to leave in the middle of the trip to go to a repair shop. I said no and barely used these features, which was whole point in having rv in first place.
When we tried to leave, the slide and step would not go in. I called «roadside assistance» who again was of no help. After 30 mins, the said a repair person would be there in 2 hrs. I was in Malibu, 30 mins from Thousand Oaks, LA, and Ventura, so not sure why it would take so long. While I asked I had to fend off ranger and other campers that were coming into spot after U.S. Not a fun wait. After 2 hours and no repairman I called «roadside assistance» again and was told it would be another 45 mins. I could have driven back to OC in less time! Annoyed with the lack of help from «roadside assistance «I called Robert and discovered he is the manager. Not only did he blame me and the third party repair person, he was rude and refused to compensate me for the 2^nd wasted day of my trip.
I will never rent from El Monte RV again. It was very expensive for service and product. That coupled with lack of customer service and repair problems is not acceptable. Thank goodness we were not camping out farther.

We recently rented an RV from El Monte RV for a trip to Montana. We used to rent from them each vacation, years ago, taking our children through the west, southwest & northwest. This was our first RV trip in 14 years. Robert was very helpful in obtaining a newer unit after finding out the RV assigned to us was 9 years old. We had to pay a bit more for it but it was worth it because on our very first RV trip ever (rented from a different company) we experienced the motorhome trip from hell and didn’t care to experience another. Pick up and drop off were easy. We will do this again with El Monte RV.

We have used them for 2 years for our trips to Yosemite. Overall, they have been a great service provider. We even got a night comped when our RV wasn’t up to standards. Customer service was great when listening to our problems. Pick up and drop off of the RV is easy! We will be using them again in the fall.

These guys ruled. I’ve used El Monte RV multiple times but have picked up from different locations each time. This was by far the easiest transaction I have experienced. The RV was almost brand new, the employees were easy to work with, and everything promised was delivered upon. Solid experience.

We rented the 28 foot RV. The front desk was very helpful, informative, and had nice customer service. Daniel was the one to really help us and he was awesome! Then came the part when we had to return the RV and forgot to unload a particular locked compartment on the outside of the RV. Let’s just say the items were pretty valuable and no one claimed to have seen them in the «locked compartment». Now this is partly our fault, I understand that. We forgot to check, plain and simple. But! When I called 48 hours later and spoke to Robert, he said the RV is no longer at Newport Dunes but he will send an email to the other location where it was at to check on the items. Days pass (48 hours) and no contact from either location. Then I called Newport Dunes to follow up and Robert’s reply? «Yah, well, the other location is just busy so you will have to wait.» Customer service at its finest. So basically I just took it upon myself to check the other location and of course, our valuables were never found. Will my family, friends or myself rent from El Monte again? Probably not if it means that if we forget something inside the RV, we may never see the item again. I guess it was just so difficult to walk 20 feet to the RV to check for our items. Someone working for El Monte is obviously dishonest. Scary. Too bad. Read the negative reviews below which primarily revolve around «ROBERT».

El Monte RV in Newport Beach was a pure pleasure to do business with. The staff made the rental transaction easy and pleasant. And, the motorhome was super clean and everything worked like it should. Thanks for the positive experience and we will be back to rent another RV.

A very good experience with pick up and drop off. Newport Dunes staff was terrific. All RV systems worked as promised. On the last day off rental the dinette table pedestal broke and should have been repaired before our rental began but crack hadn’t been inspected. This was our 2^nd rental from El Monte RV. I’d rent from them again

Our family has rented from El Monte RV for the past 6 years. We always work with Teri on the rental and Robert for the pick up and return. Great effort and customer service from both of them. We have 6 other families using them too. Highly recommend El Monte RV.

RV was clean and everything worked well. Robert and Alicia were friendly, professional and efficient, both on pick up and return. The rental location was a little hard to find (vs old Sand Canyon location), but everything else about the rental experience was outstanding.
I recommend El Monte and will definitely rent there again!

This was our first time renting an RV, and before we ended up at El Monte RV, I called Cruise America. My request was quite simple: my vacation time was short, and I wanted to leave Monday morning. Waiting till the 4:00 pickup was impossible as we had a 7 hour drive ahead of us and I didn’t want to set up camp in the middle of the night. We would have to leave early Tuesday and lose a day of my vacation. The Cruise America sales person became argumentative with me on this point, which shocked me quite a bit, and I hung up. I immediately wrote an email to customer service where a manager replied outlining their rental policy to me again. He did not mention or apologize for the sales person’s behavior, which I brought to his attention in another email. I didn’t hear from them again.
So I called El Monte RV, and they were very pleasant and accommodating. They even offered an early pick up option! We were all set to leave at 11:00 Monday morning. When I arrived to pick up the vehicle, things got a little funny. The fridge was not working properly, and the vehicle would have to be sent to their repair facility at LAX! He told me it would be ready to go in a few hours…
Ok, so I could do 2:00 and still make it to our destination before quiet time in the park. I even found an RV park just outside the park in case we hit a lot of traffic. When we returned to get the vehicle, everything was moving along smoothly. Then my wife noticed a screw in the front tire. So much for leaving that day.
Robert, sensing my dismay, refunded us the charge for that day, and when I arrived home at 6:00 with the RV, we loaded everything up and got ready for a 5:00 am departure. I was bummed that I was losing a half day, but refunding us our first day offset my disappointment. I do not believe Cruise America would have accommodated us in this way, and I will never know because they didn’t seem to care about me too much.
The 28 foot RV we rented performed wonderfully on the road. it had enough power to cruise over the grapevine at 55, and I felt comfortable driving it at 70 – 75 mph. Bring a cushion to sit on though as the vinyl seats get a little sticky. We managed to make the 35 gallon water tank last till the morning we left, including showers for the kids every night and two nights of showering for 2 adults.
All in all, we had a great experience. It wasn’t perfect, but the accommodations they made for us left me feeling very good about the whole experience. I would definitely rent from them again. I felt like they tried really hard to make us happy, and they succeeded.
Helpful Tip:
Have them remove the hubcaps before you leave. Each one costs $ 35 if you lose it. If they get stolen, that’s $ 140 out of your pocket. They will gladly remove them and store them till you return.

I have used El Monte Rv for the past 5 years. I always book with Teri. I have had nothing but excellent service. We had one small issue this last time and the Technician came right out to where I was in the middle of the desert and fixed it right up. I will continue to rent from El Monte as I always get great service. Thank you so much to Robert & his Staff

Robert is terrible. He has an attitude, doesn’t help, refuses to go above and beyond, and lies to you. I would say to avoid him but you can’t. You are stuck with him. So, I’d avoid El Monte all together because of him.
