I can not say enough good things about Jose. I took in 2 pairs of heels and 1 pair of boots so far and they have turned out beautiful. My shoes were very vey worn out and needed some love. This man is a miracle worker. I dropped off some boots that had been ‘rode hard and put away wet’. They were pretty ratchet, but I can’t find a replacement pair no matter how far and wide I’ve search. So I dropped them off with little hope but am amazed with what a great job he did! I have been looking for someone to take my shoes to in the OC for quite some time. Most of the people who shine shoes these days do a terrible job. They have no idea how to properly take care of expensive shoes.
The first shoes I brought to Jose were Allen Edmonds that have a very unique finish. Jose said he would need to have them overnight because he would have to mix a custom color in order to shine the shoes properly. At that point I knew I had the right man for the job. The next day I picked up my shoes and they were perfect!
Do yourself a favor and take your shoes to Jose.

Last year, my wife and I welcomed a French Bulldog puppy into our home, Jacques-​Tyrion. He’s a great dog, but has a taste for fine leather, particularly shoes. Enter Mr. Leon. Were it not for him, Jacques would have sent several of my favorite pairs to the shoe graveyard. Attached are before and after photos of a pair that Jacques recently used as a chew toy. Mr. Leon found perfectly matching leather and performed a resurrection.

I can’t believe I’ve been going to Jose Leon for 3+ years now and hadn’t left him a Unilocal review. Artisan seems to be the most apt term to describe Jose Leon in all things Leather Care & Restoration.
I met Jose by happenstance when the car wash I frequented was packed and my phone was out of batteries. As I watched Jose condition my shoes, I took notice of his attention to buffing and waxing all the nooks and crannies to produce a shoe that’s wholly conditioned rather than just the main surfaces. That’s when I inquired more into what other services he provides. Nowadays, it’s very difficult to find an expert craftsman let alone one who does a job to give customers’ high satisfaction (as opposed to doing a job to just get it done).
Our chat led me to believe, and which he proved to be correct, that he knows exactly what he’s talking about and he prides himself on doing the best job possible above what was expected simply because anything else would be not good enough. So, I brought in an old Coach leather portfolio in dire need of restoration and a week later, I got a seemingly shiny new portfolio. To top it off, Jose not only avoided tinting the white/​grey stitching brown, he got it back to being just white stitching.
Three years later and I’ve brought Jose nearly every piece of leather good (portfolions, wallets, shoes, belts, you name it) to recondition to like-​new again. Each time, he assesses quality and build, like a watchmaker with his magnifying glass, without even looking (rather, caring to look) at the brand name.
I’d ultimately attribute the artisan-​quality leather care and restoration work to Jose’s continued enthusiasm for the work itself. It lends itself as evidence to the adage,“Choose a job you love, and you will never have to work a day in your life.“

I’ve been taking my shoes to Jose for over 10 years. His old location was inconvenient, but I went out of my way because he is the best. He is a true craftsman of his trade and genuinely cares about leather not only looking great but wearing properly and lasting long. He has expertly repaired soles, heels and tips as well – both my shoes and my wife’s boots and heels. I also had him restore my mother’s Coach purse – and it looked brand new after 4 years of use, she was blown away.

I met Jose years ago at a car wash in Santa Ana. I could not believe the way my shoes looked after he worked his magic. Like a lot of guys, I’ve been shining my shoes since I was a little kid. My Dad bought the metal thing that attached to his workbench and would hold the shoe while we polished and then buffed them with wool cloths. We shined them every Saturday so they’d be shined for church on Sunday.
On my best day I never, ever got them to look the way Jose got them to look. Then I lost him. I went to the car wash and he was gone. No one could tell me where he had gone. I was devastated and went back to my feeble efforts to shine my shoes. I even tried doing it like I thought I had seen him do it. Not the same. When Jose shined my shoes or boots, people would comment about how great they looked.
Now I’ve found him again. Not going to lose track of him again. Fortunately, if he ever moves again he can email me his new location.
If you want someone to make your shoes look phenomenal, he’s the man. He also has repaired my shoes and other leather items with the same professional excellence he has shown in shining my shoes. He elevates his profession to an art form.
