Dr. Chen is brilliant. Can not endorse her enough. She has helped alleviate so much of my severe lower back pain and aided in my fertility. She’s just brilliant!

I was diagnosed with Trigeminal Neuropathy (specifically atypical facial pain) by a neurologist shortly before my 41^st birthday. To put it in mild terms, the facial pain quickly became more and more debilitating over the following months, forcing me at times during work to abandon my office and find refuge in the restroom or my car, praying for the pain to lessen. This raised all sorts of concerns for me and my family. Over the next five months, I saw two more neurologists and a chiropractor, who claimed to have successfully treated others with atypical facial pain. I also started taking Trileptal, a prescription drug that is supposed to lessen or block the pain signals sent to your brain. But none of this helped, with the exception of Extra Strength Tylenol. But I was taking 6 – 7 doses a day (sometimes needing to take a new dose within two hours of the last), well above recommended daily limits. And the facial pain continued getting worse, becoming so severe and constant that it started to wake me up at least once in the middle of the night. My situation was not looking good.
Finally, encouraged by my wife, I went to see Dr. Chen. Both the chiropractor and the neurologists all swore that I was wasting my time, but within a few weeks of acupuncture treatment my pain was noticeably less. Most importantly, the pain no longer woke me up in the middle of the night. Over the next few months I began reducing my intake of Trileptal and Tylenol. Within four months, my pain was being controlled enough by Dr. Chen that I completely stopped taking any pain killers. My facial pain had become very manageable (i.e. slight pain for a very short time period, maybe once or twice a day) and it no longer interferes with my daily activities, work and sleep. The acupuncture healing process has been amazing, and Dr. Chen has provided me with a vastly improved quality of life and likely saved my professional career. I owe Dr. Chen my deepest gratitude. Subsequently I have told my former neurologists and chiropractor about my success story with Dr. Chen and enlightened them of the benefits and healing process of her acupuncture. and my regular medical doctor put me on pills to thin my blood and that was about it. Exactly 3 months ago today I was desperately chronically ill. I was diagnosed with allergic asthma in December of 2012 after having some very scary episodes of not able to breathe. I was given a Pro-​Air inhaler. I was caught one day without my inhaler while exercising and it took me ½ hour to get about a quarter of a mile back to my car. That frightened me so much, I started using the inhaler before exercising each day.
By August of 2013, I was taking 2 puffs of the inhaler 4 times a day and still couldn’t breathe. My nose was also inflamed and I was constantly using nose drops. When I went back to the doctor he was extremely concerned with how bad I was. He had me use Advair in his office and sent it home with me, gave me oral steroids, antibiotics, sent me for a lung X-​ray, and referred me to a pulmonologist. I was so bad the pulmonologist actually came in on his day off to see me. A breathing treatment didn’t work and he thought I might land in the hospital. He gave me a steroid shot, stronger oral steroids, stronger inhalers, more antibiotics, and ordered a CT scan.
As it turns out, I get bronchitis and sinusitis after using any inhaler for about 3 days. So I have been in a terrible chronic cycle and during this entire time I was not able to get enough oxygen and my lungs were always wheezing and full. I coughed constantly but could never clear my lungs. I also couldn’t breathe through my nose and bought multiple bottles of nose drops at a time. All the doctors could do was add more inhalers, steroids and antibiotics. When you read a label (Symbicort) and it says that people who have asthma and use that product are more likely to die of asthma, it’s pretty scary… Needless to say, I was also pretty depressed, couldn’t exercise and I hurt so badly from coughing so hard all the time! My husband and friends were extremely freaked. I couldn’t even walk up the stairs without being out of breath. The decline was terrifying. I had been quite healthy before this!
Everything you read says asthma can’t be cured. Even the Center for Disease Control website says there is no hope. I saw an article where Dr. Andrew Weil said that the only place in the World that is having results with asthma is China and the herbs are starting to be studied. I found the 4 studies. Dr. Weil has quite a bit more to say about asthma (and Western medicine) on his website. Knowing that TCM was my hope, I did extensive research. I called the acupuncturist I had used for years. She did not have experience in this type of chronic condition. I got several recommendations and talked to the practitioners. I found that most acupuncturists are skilled in pain management, but not NOT herbal knowledge and CERTAINLY not chronic conditions like asthma. It took weeks to find Newport Acupuncture and Dr. Chen. She is extensively trained in Western AND Eastern Medicine. Just look at her resume. She has changed my herbs and treatment every few days/​weeks according to what my body needs and can handle. She is taking me from the bottom up. I do not know where else you can find this. She is a very highly trained medical doctor.
She is utterly miraculous. 3 months to the day that I first saw her, my lungs are clear. I can exercise again. My nose is clear. I am not using any inhalers or allergy medicine (or any Western medicine). Between her treatments and the herbs, she has literally given me my life back. I can breathe!!! Oh and I have energy again! I have also been able to remain stable with the continued treatments and herbs. She obviously really knows what she is doing and is very highly trained in all types of medicine. Plus she is so very very kind and caring. It is hard to be able to express my gratitude for getting my life back. I would be happy to talk to anyone in more detail if you have any questions.

She not only helped my body prepare physically for pregnancy, but Dr. Chen was also my mentor during this emotional time in my life. I was diagnosed with TN, a painful nerve condition. It was totally gone after three visits with Dr. Peng. I would highly recommend the Healing Center. It was very professional and I was impressed with the whole experience.

–BACKGROUND–
I suffered from Sciatica pain since 2011 after a lifting injury. My laziness caught up with me as I never took initiative to fix my back issue. I later developed Piriformis in my lower left leg and could not do much for days on end. I could not enjoy the lifestyle of being active with friends and family. Quite frankly put, I wished I could do surgery right then and there.
After visiting a orthopedic surgeon, he advised not to do surgery, but try acupuncture. Lo and behold after 2 years, I was ready to try anything.
I started coming here in July 2013 with a L5 Lumbar Herniated Disc. My left leg would tingle and go numb and the left side back of the knee would be stiff as a wood plank.
After 10 sessions of strictly Sciatica acupuncture, I was about 80% normal. I started to be more active in walking and exercising on a weekly basis. After 5 sessions of Piriformis acupuncture, I started lifting everyday at 70% capacity.
As of today, 1÷9÷2014, I am at 100% with some soreness in the legs and back, but that is to be expected.
–HOW IS THE SERVICE–
Considering now that I can plan to take care of myself and my future kids, this place deserves more than 5 stars. To Dr. Chen and Dr Peng, thank you from the bottom of my heart.
–WHAT IS THE PRICE–
Each session is 95 $, but with insurance and after meeting the deductible, I was paying 20 $ a session.

Went to this office to get help on a recurring nerve issue that comes and goes seasonally. Their web site listed someone with a similar condition that was treated successfully. I visited other traditional western doctors, but they could not guarantee a safe or effective treatment. So I decided to try Acupuncture. After the 3^rd treatment with Dr. Chen, the nerve issue was reduced significantly to be manageable. Regular visits afterwards have reduced the issue even more (thank goodness for insurance). I’m glad I found his place and give it 5 stars.

My husband and I along with both our children (who started coming at 6 & 12 yrs old) have been patients here for almost 2 years. You will be surprised how acupuncture and acupressure will make you feel so much better. From the common cold, back pain, migraines, tennis elbow, insomnia, stiff neck, knee injury, and even cramps… I can honestly say this office has cured all of the above and more for my family. Both doctors here are professional, friendly, knowledgeable, have over 20+ years of experience, studied in China and actually take the time to get to know your lifestyle so they can understand, diagnose and establish a treatment to improve your overall mind, body and soul. Even if you’re afraid of needles, they are patience and give comfort. Parking is easy, immaculately clean place, tranquil music in each room, and their receptionist, Judy is very courteous and has great follow-​up to inquire about your insurance coverage as well as reminding you about appointments or availability.

Dr. Chen and Dr. Peng are wonderful acupuncturists!!! Both were trained in China and have a wonderful bedside manner. I went to Dr. Chen for several months but had to stop once my insurance stopped covering it. I have never felt as healthy as when I was getting acupuncture done. Trust me, I wasn’t a believer until I tried it. I slept so much better too.
They were previously near Hoag Hospital but moved a couple years ago closer to John Wayne airport.
Yes, the chinese herbs taste disgusting but I guess they worked!
