The girl working was nice and accommodating. My salmon roll was cheap and fast! Which I think is what this place is going for. I was in a rush for work but starving so this place satisfied all departments that day.

This place would be an upgrade from fast food Japanese but it is not much more than that… food is decent and service is okay but I can’t much beyond it is alright. My co worker seem to love this place but I will look for the alternative.

Really good teriyaki place. Their portions are big and they use really lean juicy meat as opposed to other places that give you very fatty meat. Not sure about the sushi since I do not eat seafood.

My coworker comes here pretty often so I decided to give it a try. It was fairly inexpensive and the rolls are simple and to the point. I go a Firecracker roll and a salmon roll to go. Service was pretty fast and I was in and out of there in 10 mins. Once I got back to the office and opened the lid, I was a little skeptical. The quality was pretty terrible. My salmon roll was falling apart in the box and the Firecracker roll was smothered with this orange spicy mayo. I was pretty hungry so I shrugged and put a piece in my mouth. Man… I really wanted to like this place because it was so conveniently close to the office but this was some terrible terrible sushi. The Firecracker roll was not spicy at all even with the spicy mayo and the tuna pieces placed on top were not fresh(had a weird fishy taste). The rice had no flavor what so ever so I had to dip both rolls in Sriracha to make them edible. Overall I will not be coming back. $ 6.95 a roll is really inexpensive but I would rather drive a little further to Mitsuwa market to get more bang for my buck.

Good, fresh food for a very affordable price. It’s busy during lunch time, it is worth the wait. Portion size is reasonable.

I had always heard about this place so my friends and I wanted to try it. The sushi was fresh and good. The edamame had hair in it. So we gave that back. I really hate how it closes so early. We were having dinner and had to leave because they closed at 8PM.

I was craving sushi and being a college student, I really didn’t want to pay a lot of money at a fancy sushi place for a good roll. I decided to check out this place and was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the sushi rolls. As I checked out the menu, I noticed that the rolls were either $ 4.95 or $ 6.95. I decided to stick to my favorite roll, the crunch roll, and I got a miso soup as well. However, I really liked that this place gave you the option of creating your own roll for $ 6.95. I enjoyed my miso soup and was happy that they put in a lot of seaweed and tofu. As for my roll, the display was nice and the roll itself was very fresh and yummy with plenty of eel sauce(my favorite!). Only reason I am not giving this place a full five stars is because they close at 8pm which I think is early even for Irvine.

My coworkers love this place, so I decided to give it a couple of chances before writing a review. I’ve been here a handful of times and overall I’ve been disappointed. The first time I came for lunch, the register wasn’t reading cards. I ended up standing at the front counter with my roll for 20 mins, while they tried to make the machine work. At lest 3 or 4 people walked in and out. I would have joined them, but I carpooled with a coworkers who had already ordered their food. The other times I have come in just haven’t made up for it. The service has was on the slow side, the rolls are pretty skimpy, and I’ve had better instant miso soup that comes from packets. If you really want to check this place out, I’d get a bento box. I haven’t personally tried it, but people at my work think it is a good value.

My coworkers officially love this place! We all give it the same rating based on pricing, options, and quality of the food. In addition to this, their customer service was on point. The only suggestion we have is that they should probably update their phone number on their listing, though I am not sure if they take orders over the phone.

I work within walking distance, so when I have a sushi craving at lunch, this is one of several very local options. That said, this isn’t a gourmet or sit-down sort of place — it caters to quick, casual dining-with-disposables. If you go at lunchtime, be sure to allow yourself enough time to wait for your food — from walking in to walking out, a to-go bento box will clock about 25 minutes of your time, 15 – 20 of which will be waiting for the food. The food is simple and tasty, and the options for design-your-own sushi rolls are always fun. There are options for meatatarians and vegetarians alike, and the prices are quite reasonable. The bento box offers a little of everything, and is a large portion of meat and rice starting at $ 9. With all the ‘upgrades’(steak, spicy tuna, etc), it still comes in under $ 12, which is a heck of a bargain in my opinion. The parking nearby caters to multiple restaurants and the small shopping strip there, so while there may not be a spot right by the door, there will be one somewhere. Watch for pedestrians — the sidewalks leading into the lot on the office building side are narrow and uneven, so a safe footpath is hard to find if you’re approaching on foot.

Wanted to make an update after eating here every week for almost a year. Had to ding them a star because quality has gone down. And they seem to be slowing down with each visit. I remember I used to be in and out in 10 minutes. Today, I clocked them at 20 minutes for a to-go order. Curious because it never seems to be busier than was before. Might be a staffing change. I’ll update this review again if the quality picks back up. If you don’t hear back from me, that means I probably passed away… or stopped eating here. Either way, tell my mother I loved her(cooking).

I like this place! It’s fairly close to where I live and the price is decent for what you get! The Details: I usually get a Bento Box(Chicken Teriyaki, Sesame Chicken instead of Potstickers, and Spicy Tuna Sushi) for around $ 8.99 w/o tax. This sometimes isn’t enough for me so I either get the King’s Roll or the Crunch Roll depending on my mood for the day. My entire order plus tax comes out to be something like 16 – 17 dollars, which, for a college student, is a bit on the expensive side when it comes to just one meal. The portion for the Bento Box itself is quite sufficient, in my opinion. I was originally very surprised when I first ordered it. I come here every few weeks, and it’s actually somewhat of a cheaper alternative to some places around the Irvine area if you just base it on a price to portion ratio.

I go there mainly out of convenience since it’s a walking distance from my work. Food is decent and price is reasonable. Their bento combo is a good deal. One thing I don’t really like is the customer service. I know you can’t expect much from self serve restaurant, but seriously… a little smile on face won’t ruin your day. The girls at the front seem like they’re having a bad day every single day and I go there at least once a week so I know… so if you don’t care about service and like affordable rolls(not sushi) i would recommend this place.

Good quality for to go sushi! However, their menu is a little pricey, an average $ 10 per roll, it’s on par with some sushi restaurants. Quality is pretty good but the yellowtail is a hit or miss; got a yellowtail roll this weekend and it was really fishy. Otherwise, I like their spicy tuna in their King roll and their veggies are fresh! When I first started eating here, the spider roll was the best bang for your buck. The soft shell crab was shoved in there and it had its little legs sticking out. Just got this again… Disappointing. The roll was much smaller and the crab less than half the amount. It still tasted great, but the portions have gotten smaller. Overall, service is good but can be slow. It gets busy during lunch and people love the teriyaki here. They make the rolls in the front so you can see when your order is coming up. Good for lunch, it’s the closest and fastest sushi spot near my work. You have my business.

I come to Roll it up at least once a week since it’s only a street away from my work. I call in my order, drive straight over to pick it up, and they always have it ready for me when I get there. Reasonable prices and great sushi. Love the crunch roll and miso soup. Location and parking is extremely convenient and the staff is always friendly.

This place is awesome! Especially the bento box deal! Coming into the business I wasn’t expecting much, and thinking the food would be sub par since it was a counter experience, order at the counter and find a place to sit. My boyfriend and I took a while to look at the menu to see what we could get for the bang of our buck! We decided to share a bento box, get a side order of unagi sushi roll, and made the bento box into combo for $ 2 more, which includes a small side and a fountain drink. Our total came out to be $ 17 – 18. However, I believed we ordered a bit too much! Once they called our number, we grabbed our meal and started devouring! It was so delicious! They have brown rice instead of white rice, which was what we got. The bento box included brown rice, teriyaki chicken, four pieces of sushi(can choose from tuna, salmon or California rolls), edamame and salad. We ordered a side of unagi roll, and I think we could gave gone without the unagi roll because we ended up being full. If you don’t have a big appetite for lunch, a bento box is perfect for sharing with two!

I come here because it’s close to work and when I want a change from flame broiler or Fuji grill. Not bad for the bento box. Even though it’s busy I always find parking here during peak lunch hours. Plenty of seats and tables but does get crowded at certain times. One thing though, service isn’t very friendly or welcoming. Sure they get the job done, but that’s it. Not a bad idea to smile every now and then, or dare I say maybe even build some rapport. Customer service 101. Food and convenience bring me here, and yes I would come back.

Roll It Sushi & Teriyaki makes a convent, healthy and inexpensive lunch option in the JWA area of Newport Beach. Located roughly a mile south of JWA on MacArthur in tony Newport Beach Roll It brings an unlikely healthy, quick, and affordable version of Japanese cuisine to the area. True Sushi aficionados(read: snobs) are going to be far better served at the traditional and well known Nana San a few short miles away, but be prepared to pay double or more for that privilege. If you want clean, fresh and no fuss Japanese at incredible value, look no further than Roll It. The menu offers Rolls at $ 5.00 each, Sashimi Combos & Bento boxes for $ 10.00 or less and Bowls starting at an astonishing $ 5.75. I know what you are thinking and no, the portions are not at all abbreviated. In fact, they may be larger than the competition. The quality? On point — no — borderline amazing considering the associated cost. I scored a delicious Spicy Tuna Roll and a creative Cajun Albacore Roll with a soda for $ 11.00. Clean environs and friendly service to boot? You can’t beat that with a baseball bat. Roll It Sushi & Teriyaki is now permanently entered into my lunchtime rotation and if you enjoy wonderful Japanese on a budget, it really ought to be part of yours.

Cheap and decently fast, so don’t really expect much here. It’s located in a pretty convenient spot on MacArthur so there’s always people coming in and out for a quick lunch. I would come back if I need a last minute lunch. Chicken Teriyaki bowl comes in two sizes: small and large with just a few bucks difference. The small size was pretty filling but I felt like the chicken was a bit overcooked/kinda tough. Definitely add the Sriracha to give it a kick in flavor. Also got the option for white meat if you prefer that!

Great service and great food! It was our first time there, and I ordered a sashimi bowl for about $ 8. At first I was a little disappointed by the size, but they really pack the food in! It tasted as appetizing as it looked and the place was also very clean. Only knocked down one star because the serving size wasn’t as filling as I would have liked for the price, and the fish pieces were a little small. Will come again to try the sushi!
