I have been going to Lisa for some time now. Every time I have a wedding (which has been several in the past few years) or other special event, I go to her to have my hair done. I show her what I’m wearing and she figures out the best hairstyle! I always get so many compliments on my hair. She makes me look and feel amazing!

Maggie has done my hair for YEARS!!! I travel from the Bay Area for her to color and cut my hair and maintenance my extensions. Her skill and talent reflects in her work and it is so refreshing to have someone doing your hair that has such incredible passion and a natural art for it. I HIGHLY recommend Maggie for all your hair services!!! She is extremely funny, personable and just plain down to earth!!! I would follow her wherever she went.

If you’re looking for a professional, and fantastic stylist — call and ask for Maggie! She was the one and only stylist I used in California and I was never disappointed. I never even came with a picture, I told her to do what she thought was best and I came out looking amazing every time! She cares about what she does and it shows. Call her, its the best decision you’ll make for your hair!

I love this Salon! I have been bouncing around hairstylists ever since mine moved and was told to try this salon. I was scheduled with Maggie and I am sooo happy I found her.
Seriously a dream come true! She always knows exactly what I am asking for, which for some reason doesn’t come as easy as it should with other people I have seen. If she ever moves I think I will move with her because I can not imagine having to find someone else.
Everyone should definitely go here and if you don’t have a stylist in mind you should book with Maggie.

I love this salon! The overall appearance and ambiance is very clean and organized. The owner, Terry, is always very friendly and says hello every time I come in. Kelly, the reception is very genuine and friendly. It’s really nice to have a salon that I can go to where I feel completely comfortable and relaxed while I’m getting my hair done.
Maggie, my hairstylist, is always so sweet and very thorough. Her highlights are excellent and my haircuts are always very consistent. Every time I leave Salon L, I always feel beautiful and ready to conquer my day!

I have to say that cutting hair is an art. I have found such a talented artist at Salon L. Her name is Maggie. She has been cutting my hair for about a year and I am always satisfied I went from long to a pixie cut and there is not a week that goes by that I don’t get complimented on the cut. People are always asking me where and who I get my hair done.
Maggie always makes sure that I am satisfied before I leave the salon. She listens to my needs and expectations and goes out of her way to make sure that I am satisfied. Maggie is a great stylist and I recommend her work.

I can’t believe I haven’t written a review about this place yet, let me tell you… the people at Salon L are amazing. Here’s my story:
On January 17, 2009 I was getting married at the Balboa Inn in Newport Beach. My bridesmaids, my sister and my mom were all waiting for the girl that was to do our hair and makeup to show up. The time she agreed to comes and goes… frantic phone calls go unanswered… finally we give up and ask the girl working the front desk if she knows of a salon nearby, she recommended Salon L. My wonderful sister and matron of honor called and explained the situation to the owner and he, of course, was appalled and had us come over right away.
When we arrived they had mimosas waiting for us! I couldn’t believe how nice they were, of course at this point my face was a blotchy mess from crying, but they calmed me down and went to work on me right away. They were able to fit the five of us in between appointments on and already busy Saturday. When my sister and last bridesmaid weren’t done getting their hair done yet, the owner offered to give them a ride back to the hotel so that I could go back and get ready for pictures and such. Talk about ABOVE and BEYOND customer service.
I will never forget what Salon L did to make a complete nightmare a wonderful dream. And my makeup and hair ended up looking even better than it was going to with that other stylist!

LAURA is amazing!!!
This was my first time going to this salon and let me tell you I was very impressed. I went in to get some highlights put in for summer and came out with exactly what I wanted. Laura really took her time and listened to what I wanted and then told me how it would be done. Her personality is so genuine and sweet. She made me feel right at home and so did everyone else. I have never left a salon and not felt the urge to mess with my hair. This time I had no desire to play with it, because Laura styled it fantastically. She is a master stylist at the salon, and if you go to her you will see why.

I’ve been coming to Salon l for at least 4 years now, and I LOOOOOVE this place! In fact, not sure why it took me so long to review!
The first time I came here, I was distraught over an absolutely hideous hair cut I’d gotten at another place. I came here on a recommendation, and Terry (salon owner and GOD of hair with over 30 years of experience) took such impeccable care of me that I swore I’d never go to any place else.
Over the years, he’s restored my hair’s condition, and I’m finally in love with its ease of styling, health, and just the way it looks. It’s longer now than it ever was before, and I get compliments on it daily. I mention Salon L everywhere I go because of how much I love it… these guys really do ROCK!
Another thing — my job is such that it takes me traveling all over the states for prolonged periods of time regularly. I’ve waited for months to get a trim or a color touch up, just to make sure Terry is the one to do it — these guys are the only ones who have my trust when it comes to my hair.
So, to sum it up, if you’re tired of looking for a kick-​ass place to relax and chat your worries away while an experienced professional makes you look like the bombshell that you are, THIS is the place to be. Check ‘em out, you won’t regret it.

I just love Salon L. I currently live in Utah, but I come back to Salon L to get my hair done after some really bad highlight jobs. Lisa is incredible. She is a wiz with color and is the only person I have ever gone to that can take my dark brown hair to blonde without it going red or getting ultra damaged! If you want highlights without breakage or a great cut, you have to see her. It is worth every penny!

The price is definitely right for a salon in Newport, but the results are average. I bought a deal for a wash, cut, style, and deep conditioning treatment. The deep conditioning treatment was amazing! My hair looks so healthy, but my cut is nothing special. I definitely got a deal, but not the deal I thought I was getting. According to the deal, the retail value of all the services together was $ 135, but when I asked about the retail value in order to leave the correct amount of tip I was told that it was $ 90.

I found this place via Groupon and was very pleased.

That they list the prices for a cut according to stylist experience on the website AND list the names of the stylists WITH their experience levels — thus allowing you to make your first appointment knowing what you are getting into price and experience wise
HAIRCUT:
Terry (master stylist/​owner) cut my hair and he really is a master. I have really thick, somewhat wavy hair and a widows peak — so when I go to a new person it usually takes them a couple of appointments to figure out how to cut my hair such that it does not do crazy things when I dont blow dry it. He got it right the first time — I barely have to style my hair. Terry was also extremely communicative and made sure he really understood what I was looking for.
Overall the whole experience was great and I will definitely be back!

Salon L is a slightly hidden gem in Newport. I recently purchased a groupon that introduced me to Ashley. She is AMAZING. I went in for highlights. I am blonde and love multidimensional color. She was fast, efficient, and super easy to talk to. If you are looking for a new salon with very reasonable prices and great stylists, try Salon L and ask for Ashley. Seriously. She’s awesome!

This is the easiest review I’ve ever written. I have been a client of Terry Landers’ since October 1996 (that’s 15 years!). I have no desire to go anywhere else ever. I have referred numerous people to Terry and those who still live in the area still go to him.
Terry knows how my hair works. He doesn’t do things that won’t work w/​my lifestyle or my blow drying capabilities. We talk before we do anything to collaborate on what we’re going to do… red, brown, blond highlights, shorter, growing it, bangs?
Try Salon L. You won’t regret it.

Of course I found this place just before I move away! I am willing to drive 45 minutes for a fantastic hair or color at a reasonable price — two things that rarely go together! Misty and the whole team there are fantastic! Make sure to have a coffee next store at the coffee shop — they bake their own bread and pastries!

I love this place! It’s a great salon with VERY talented stylists. I get my hair done wtih Ashley and she is AMAZING. So sweet, so, so talented and really has an eye for great style. I have pretty thick hair, and she styles it perfectly every time. It’s a little pricey (Newport prices), but totally worth it. Terry, who owns the salon, is super friendly and runs the place very well. It’s clean, it’s elegant, and in a great location. If you go, make sure to make your appointment with Ashley.

I grew up in Newport and have been going to Terry at Salon L for at least 10 years. I’ve tried other stylists when I lived in Santa Barbara, and since I moved to San Francisco 3 years ago, but I keep coming back to Terry and Salon L; and even schedule trips to visit my folks around when I need haircuts, just so I can see Terry.
He’s consistent and professional and my hair always comes out looking great, no matter what I’ve decided to do to my hair. Terry’s taken me from long to short, bob to layers, added bangs, helped me grow out bangs and transitioned me from blonde to redhead and back to my natural brunette.
It just doesn’t get any better. I highly recommend!

I concur with Tricia T. My first experience here was in May of 2007, I needed to get my hair done before my college graduation.
My stylist’s name? Ashley Judd. No not the sometimes great actress (or actor, as I hear they prefer to be called regardless of gender), but a young hip hairstylist who totally got me and my hair. I’m pretty simple when it comes to my hair, color, cut, long layers, please don’t make me look like one of those girls on the reality shows with the long dried out scuzzy hair.
She did a great job. I continued to go to her for 2 years very regularly because of the great service and the lack of pretension in the salon, and the prices were great! 50 for a cut and 50 for all over color (is what I paid then, not sure if it’s still the same) and she would totally accommodate my schedule.
Now when I say I came here for over two years, I mean I drove down from LA to get my hair done here, usually it was on the way to San Clemente, but still, this location is far off the freeway — which should tell you how much I liked this salon and this stylist.
Sadly it’s just too far out of the way for me now with the gas guzzler that I drive. If you go, please ask for Ashley!

My hair stylist (Karla) moved here maybe two years ago. She ROX! But this is a review of the salon.
Nice location. Nice ambience. They offered me free champagne the other day; they always offer water and/​or coffee. Always entered into some kind of drawing or get a free gift for doing something that I was going to do anyway — like book my next appointment or buy product.
