Business Owner

Courtney Thurman is the owner and founder of SmallWerks, Inc., a small business marketing consulting company and design studio specializing in helping small businesses become Momentum Driven™.

She’s a four-​time small business author for Entrepreneur Press, a division alongside of Entrepreneur magazine and went on to become their in-​house Acquisitions Editor before embarking on her own entrepreneurial journey. Her books can still be found at Barnes & Noble and Amazon. She holds a B.S. Business Administration from the USC Marshall School of Business where she relaunched the USC Entrepreneur Club, and was awarded the first Special Services Award.

I have had the pleasure of talking with Courtney about a few projects that I had in mind for expansion of my own business. She was great with objectively looking at my ideas and giving me direction, as well as ways to accomplish these goals.

I recently worked with Courtney putting on Escalate Live 2010, a creative photography conference at the Newport Beach historic Lido Theater over two industry-​changing days that resulted in over 36,000 views, many of them international, through the live feed webcast. She was the event planner for this event. She was a huge asset to this conferences success helping with PR messaging and planning the execution of actual day. We had a number of difficult factors to putting this conference on and Courtney organized and executed her responsibilities well. I highly recommend Courtney’s services.

It is difficult to encapsulate in words how much I value Courtney’s expertise and counsel. Nevertheless, I will make an attempt because I truly believe she possesses a rare combination of knowledge and skills that would benefit anybody seeking to improve their business.
I first met Courtney Thurman through the Orange Chamber of Commerce’s Profit Connection group shortly after I had started my own law practice.
