I never post reviews for anything, but I couldn’t not post one for this. Dr Wally and his entire staff are the reason that I fly out to Cali from Alaska to have my dental treatment done! When I arrived for my first visit I was beyond scared, and anxious. I knew that after years and years of neglecting my teeth that I would be in for some real pain. I was pretty wrong about that. Not only Dr Wally, but the rest of his staff went out of their way to make sure I was comfortable throughout each and every one of my visits! I never felt pressured, and they made sure that if I even started to feel uncomfortable during any one of my procedures that all I would have to do was signal and they would give me a break if I needed one. I used to be scared of going to dentists offices, which is why I put it off for so long, and now I find myself walking in with ease, and enjoying my time with him and his staff.
The environment is welcoming and, comfortable while still maintaining the utmost professionalism. I hope that by posting this I can encourage anyone else that may have an fear of dentists to take the plunge and put themselves in these people’s hands!

I will never stop yelling from the rooftops how much I love Dr. Wally. This man straight out re-​did my entire mouth from horrible military dentistry 10 years ago (it took over a year to fix), and with my latest situation with my teeth he worked with us to create a payment plan that works perfect. This way i didn’t have to stop treatment for $ reasons. He is the tooth whisperer!
Dr Wally is family to us— he is awesome with my kids to the point where my 3 year old sends him hello videos.
If you need a dentist, GET over there and see these people!!! People literally FLY in from all over the country to see him (our out of town friend reco’d him!)
You will be blown away.

Dr. Bashawaty is the consummate professional. I have had about 8 – 10 dentist in my life and Dr. Wally is hands down the most enjoyable experience I have had at the dentist. His staff is always positive and cheerful as they mirror his demeanor. He makes going to the dentist as good as it gets. From cleaning to more serious conditions, Dr. Bashawaty and his team are amazing. Two thumbs up!

I love going to my Dentist appointments! Not only do I receive the care I need, I enjoy the massage chairs! The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Dr. Bashawaty takes his time to make sure his work is up to par. I have never experienced anything negative and I strongly recommend choosing his team for your family dentistry needs.

Dr. Bashawaty and his staff make going to the dentist feel like you’re going to the spa. Not only do the do the best work, but they always remember me and details about my family… stellar customer service. I have never felt ripped off. His work lasts! I used to be so phobic of the dentist, but since seeing Dr. Bashawaty for the past 5 years, I actually enjoy getting my teeth cleaned. He recently remodeled his office and the place looks amazing! If you go in there based on my review, tell him i said hi! He is one of my favorite people and his whole staff is amazing.

Where do I start ?
I used to be TERRIFIED of the dentist. With that being said, I didn’t go for several years… I don’t really want to disclose how many. Let’s just say it was a long time. Needless to say I had quite a bit of dental work to get done. What brought me to choose Dr Bashawathy was reviews on Unilocal and the fact that his office is conveniently located between home and my work.
The first visit was definitely scary and I had a hard time relaxing. Dr Bashawathy was very patient with me and let me know he would never hurt me. (I had a traumatic experience in the past)
Like I said there was a lot of work to be done, deep cleaning, extraction of wisdom teeth, a crown, some cavities.
So there were several visits to the dentist for me. Over time I’ve gotten comfortable going. I wouldn’t say I love it, but I don’t mind going either.
That to me, is huge progress. The fact that I now pre book my visits is a miracle.
I can’t say enough about Dr Bashawathy, he’s got passion for his craft, always in a good mood, he taught me to have trust & relax while in the chair. His work is meticulous and absolutely pain free.
I’d also like to give praise to the dental hygienists and assistants. Everybody are friendly, caring and personable, and make you feel welcome.
Also worth mentioning, I don’t have dental insurance, but they set up a treatment/​payment plan that worked out for both of us.
I highly recommend this Dental team to anyone.

I came in here for a cleaning and I was not impressed. The hygienist was rough after I informed her I had a sensitive tooth that needed some TLC. I’ve had problems with this tooth for the past 16 years and most cleanings have been OK. Then, she kept poking at my lip and finally asked how long that [lump] had been there. I said «do you mean my lip piercing which I just took out this morning?»
Scar tissue… Normal for piercings. She said no, this looks like some sort of cyst. Nope. Just a hole in my lip where a piercer stuck a needle in 6 years ago. Don’t judge.
Then, they told me I had two cavities. I’d never had a cavity before. Great. My perfect teeth are not perfect anymore. Just wait. This is gonna get good.
That sensitive tooth? It’s chipped. Has been for years. The bonding fell off and I asked them to rebond it. They insisted it couldn’t be done until I whitened my teeth for a couple hundred dollars. Do you know how painful that is? A crest whitestrip hurts. Bond it first 2 shades lighter then whiten. It’s on the back of my tooth where no one will see it. But no, they can’t do that! It has to be white. Beauty first. Now I understand why all the staff members look like models and the «art» is pictures of the staff.
And then, when I’d given up, a year later I get emails from them, in which the receptionist did not use BCC. Other avoidant /​disgruntled patients, I have your email addresses. Anyone want some spam email? I can sign you up for Justin Bieber Zone newsletters.
Oh, and I went to another dentist today to finally get those cavities fixed.
He says I don’t have any cavities. It’s true I do have a small stain and it could become a spot of decay, but it wasn’t soft when he pressed on it and he sees no reason to go drilling into a healthy tooth. Plan of action: keep it clean, and keep an eye on it.
If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. And don’t charge me for it. And don’t insist I need painful whitening before repair of a painful chip.

So many dentists to choose from in Orange County, go to Dr. Bashawaty in Newport Beach. South Coast Dental is a high class dental practice, with a warm and friendly staff. You sense this right when you walk through the door. The service is very personal, the staff knows you by name. Dr. Bashawaty is genuine, he is all about attention to detail. The care he gives is a reflection of himself. He keeps up to date with the latest dental information. I went to Dr, Bashawaty initially for Invisalign treatment, and now he is my primary dentist. I get a lot of compliments on my smile, but that’s not what it’s all about. The Invisalign also actually helped with my jaw pain, with its realignment. Special thanks to Roula, Marye Ann, Amira and Stacey (excellent hygienist). Your teeth are supposed to last you a lifetime, take good care of them! South Coast Dental can help you do just that.

Best dentist out there. He makes going to the dentist fun. He’s got a great team and a friendly environment.

I have been coming to see Dr Wally for almost 10 years now. Does that tell you anything right there?
I love this man as my dentist and will not anyone else near my teeth! And all of his dental hygienists are awesome!
I just had to go in and have a cavity filled. I would always dread this when I was seeing other dentists. But not with Dr Wally. I didn’t even feel the shot with the Novocaine that he used. I was so relaxed during the entire procedure that I even drifted off to sleep in his chair.
If you are looking for a dentist that cares about his patients that Dr Wally is your man.

Dr. Wally, yes that is his first name, has been providing me excellent dental care for the last 5 months. My experience has been fantastic and I am happy to have found a great dentist.
The visit is always smooth, dental staff is knowledgeable, friendly and professional from start to finish, they take time to explain what they are doing and answer all questions you have, it doesn’t hurt they’re all attractive, Dr. Wally and his ladies…
Dr. Wally’s work is akin to a craftsman, I have had a cap and a few fillings, and the finished product has exceeded expectations every time.
The customer service is top notch. Phone calls are promptly returned, the attitude and demeanor over the phone is polite, courteous and efficient. I received a thank you card following my first appointment, they even have their branded water labels!
Negs — Long wait time for appt, but you can ask to be placed on cancellation list for quicker appt. The cancellation policy is strict, you are contacted the day before the appt by phone/​email and if you do not respond by the afternoon, your appt is cancelled. Neither affected my rating here 5 stars, best Dentist I have ever had.

Last year I went to a dentist for the first time in my 30+ years of walking this planet. And I am glad it was Dr. Wally.
He was very highly recommended to me by too many of my colleagues and friends to ignore.
His office staff is very professional and very supportive of both the paients and Dr. Wally. The dental assistants are very methodical and yet patient and gentle. They made me feel comfortable every time.
Dr. Wally himself, is just an A+ dentist. While I haven’t ever been to any other dentist, I know a passionate professional when I see one. He is very jovial and friendly and listens to me about my feedback through out any procedure. Well… as much as I can speak with all those instruments in my mouth. He already knows very well what he is doing but he wants to make sure the experience is not unpleasant for you. Even when he is extremely busy he takes the time to connect.
While I’d be worried for his appointment book to be filled by a million other new clients, and leave less time for my infrequent visits, I think it is only fair that I share the review of this very good, professional dentist.

I am one of those people who are terrified of dentists. So much so that I managed to avoid seeing one for ten years. A blinding toothache finally got me to bite the bullet and see a dentist.
The first dentist I went to (who will remain unnamed) was a friend of a friend who was going to do me a «favor» since I don’t have dental insurance. He did a series of x-​rays and a bunch of weird tests, then proceeded to tell me I needed a root canal, a crown, and a sleep study because he suspected I had sleep apnea. (FYI, I am a 115-​pound female… the likelihood of me having sleep apnea is slim to none.) This so-​called «favor» was going to cost me a whopping $ 5000! FOR ONE TOOTH! Needless to say, I left in tears. I was resigned to the fact that I would just have to live with tooth pain.
About a week later, I was at work and bit down on something the wrong way and the pain was excruciating. A girl that I work with told me to try Dr. Bashawaty. She said she had gone to him and that he was fabulous. I was a bit leery, but I was also desperate. I called and they were able to squeeze me in the very next morning.
When I walked in the office, I was really apprehensive. However, the staff was really nice and led me to one of the exam rooms. I explained what was happening and and the dental assistant took x-​rays. Then Dr. Bashawaty came in. He was so friendly and kind, and I immediately felt at ease. He took photos of my teeth and then pulled them up on a monitor and showed me exactly what was wrong with each tooth. The tooth that was causing me so much pain? MERELY A BROKEN FILLING!!! Turns out all I needed was an onlay (which cost a fraction of what the first guy told me).
Then Dr. Bashawaty devised my dental plan, that listed the most serious to the least serious problems. Since I have no dental insurance, he broke it down by visit. For example, the first visit consisted of fixing my broken filling. The second would be filling a new cavity, etc. It made me feel much less overwhelmed to have a concrete step-​by-​step plan of action. (On a side note, while we were talking, I noticed the dentist chair was exceptionally comfortable. The doctor told me he had it custom made out of memory foam! It seems like such a small detail but it made a huge impression on me.)
After my first visit, I was rescheduled to come back in two weeks to receive my onlay. It literally fit PERFECTLY! It’s the greatest thing I have ever experienced! I absolutely LOVE my new tooth! I can chew anything and have ZERO pain! It’s amazing! I don’t even have any hot or cold sensitivity.
I have never been excited about dental work and have never in my life referred friends to a dentist. But now I can’t shut up about this guy. I’ve told all my friends and family about him and have already referred 2 new people to him who absolutely love him as well. I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I’m actually looking forward to getting the rest of my dental work done.
Thank you so very much, Dr. Bashawaty. You are the first dentist in my entire life that has made me feel comfortable and feel safe. I will be a patient forever.

Absolutely incredible!!! I have NEVER been to such a more profesional and sincere dentist office, from the girls up front, assistants, hygienists to Dr. Wally.

I hadn’t been to a dentist in years because it’s thing I hate the most but after going to Dr. Wally’s office I don’t feel like that anymore. They were able to fix all the problems I had from not going to dentist in 6 years in a quick and painless as possible. Staff is very nice and care about helping you have good clean teeth. I also love the ocean view when I’m getting me cleanings. I highly recommend this to everyone.

Having anything to do with the word «dentist» has always been a nightmare for me! Growing up in NYC, I’ve always had bad luck with dentists especially the last dentist I had. They truly screwed me over and I ended up with route canals and fillings that weren’t done properly leading to a horrible extraction where I had to go under because of the severe pain and infection it caused.
After relocating to the OC, I had to find a dentist who can take over this horrible work and «fix» it. Dr. Wally was recommended to me. I was terrified going in there at first but he was so kind and patient to me making me feel very comfortable. He looked at my x-​rays and laid it all out to me with all honesty. He told me exactly what needed to be done and walked me through the steps. I had to get implants but I felt no pain and everything went well! His work is excellent and he knows exactly what he’s doing!!! He follows up with his patients and truly cares about their well-​being. I’m truly lucky to have found this doctor or else I would have had my teeth fall out at such a young age!
The staff at the office are extremely friendly and always smiling. They make you feel welcomed at all times even when they are extremely busy! The front desk girls are awesome and the assistants are so caring!
Although I’m done with my heavy duty dental work, I still go for cleanings and they are the best cleanings ever because they are very thorough but painless.
Last but not least, they are extremely great with timing, I never had to wait more than 5 mins and no I’m not exaggerating!
I highly recommend Dr. Wally, you’ll truly have no regrets because he’ll literally cater to you to meet all your needs and help you maintain the best teeth ever!!!

I was really nervous about starting with a new Dentist, but Dr. Bashawaty made the entire experience as pleasurable as possible. He makes sure that he has contact with every patient, even if you are just going in for a cleaning. The staff is very friendly and even helped with my insurance costs. I feel relieved knowing that Dr. Bashawaty received his education from USC, the best dental school, and he participates in ongoing education to remain at the top of the field. He separates substance from hype and is committed to perfection in a way I have never before experienced from a dentist. He really cares about you and your teeth!
This is a warm and friendly office. Their billing department really goes the extra mile with your insurance company. It says a great deal about the management of the practice that they do not have the typical turnover you see in most dental offices. It means a lot to see the same faces who really know you instead of having to explain your whole story to someone new every time you come in to have anything done.
At the end of the day, if you want the height of professionalism and terrific looking, healthy teeth, then you want Dr. Bashawaty and the crew from South Coast Dental to take care of you.

After having the same dentist in Century City/L.A. for over 25 years I moved to OC and had to locate a good dentist. Like many others, I took way too long to begin my search.
Luckily, Dr. Wally Bashawaty came recommended and is now my new dentist. Great dental knowledge, great demeanor, new technology, and an excellent staff all part of a solid dental practice in Newport Beach, CA next door to Costa Mesa and not too far from Santa Ana and South Coast Plaza.
BTW — The Dr. is a huge USC fan — you’ll see what I mean from the very first step you take into his office. Fight on!
