I love the location of this b&n. The café workers are always super helpful and cheery. We love browsing the book section for our preschooler. They have excellent one of a kind toys too. Large selection of adult coloring books. Be sure to be a member. $ 25 a year for 10% off purchases. Really helps if you like Legos or magic cards.

It’s B&Ns! Been going here forever, like since they opened up. This was my high school study group spot and I continued going here through college and still now as an adult. The setup is very straight forward like every other B&Ns. Lots of selection but by far my favorite is the bargain book section which I typically hit up for some good obscure reads from time to time. There is lots of parking don’t let the next door BDub’s fool you, there is always parking! But then again that’s only if you don’t mind walking from the back to the front of store. The store is usually pretty clean, with the exception of the restrooms which can be pretty shitty… literally. No Lie. Anyway, they offer some classes for Nook users and some stuff for the kids. Every now and then there are some special events for new release books and overall they do a decent job. I enjoy going here for the café portion. The café is neat because it is perched up overlooking the store which is a popular spot for study groups. The café can get pretty icky but overall it’s not too bad. Seating is vast but not really the most comfortable and I had fighting for a charging spot they should consider some charging stations, but oh well. Outside of the café there isn’t much seating usually on the outskirts of the building entrances and windows. Overall, I will continue to go here because its smack in the middle of good ol’ Jefferson and Patrick Henry… a very busy part of Newport News. I prefer this one to the Williamsburg location because employees are a tad bit friendlier.

Could use a technology upgrade. The parking lot is shared with multiple restaurants in the area such as Buffalo Wild Wings, so if there’s a big game playing, it’s difficult to park. The kids area is a plus. It has a Thomas the train station that my little one loves.

I love going to this Barnes & Noble. It reminds me of how Barnes & Noble used to be like during the 90s, with their café being in the center of the store and having plenty of seating. The store is a a good decent size. They have a huge newspaper/periodical section. Staff is pretty friendly and helpful when needed. The parking lot is a bit smaller compared to other B&N locations. Other than that, this is the perfect place to go to, especially on a cold and rainy day.

Located in the bustling Patrick Henry mall area, this is the B&N I frequented when I worked at the Naval Weapons Station Yorktown base back at the turn of the century. Hold up, that doesn’t sound right — let me rephrase that. I used to frequent this B&N years ago when I worked at Yorktown. Yeah… that sounds better. Moving right along… You can’t miss this store when traveling down busy Jefferson Avenue. Parking is ample and if the parking in the front is full then there’s plenty of parking located to the rear of the building. I know this sucks for people that hate to walk that extra 88 and a half feet… but hey, think of it as a part of your bi-weekly exercise regimen. This store is a relatively decent size. I’m not an expert at guesstimating square footage of buildings but I’d say that this building is standard fare in terms of footage and books for that matter. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful which makes shopping and locating what you need all that more of a snap. The café is elevated meaning that you have to «step up» to it and it’s a good size with ample seating. The baristas are friendly, competent and talented in delivering that same quality that you would expect to find at a regular Starbucks store. Back in the day when I visited this location regularly they used to hold poetry readings once a week which I used to attend and thoroughly enjoyed. I didn’t bother to ask one of the staff members if they still hosted that event but next time I «check in» I’ll be sure to find out and update for my fellow Unilocalers that might be interested. Overall, my experience at this B&N has always been pleasant. The only drawback for me is the penchant for traffic in the Patrick Henry Mall area to get thick making getting out of the parking and back onto Jefferson a tad bit tricky.

A woman I later learned was the Store Manager decided it was appropriate to interrupt one of her employees while they were trying to help me, so she could publicly chew them out. Incredibly inappropriate and extremely embarrassing — for the employee as well as me! I don’t ever want to go in this particular BN again.

Meh. The seating in the café is poorly arranged, the tables and chairs are less than comfortable, and the tables were not cleaned between patrons. It took longer than it should have for patrons to place drink and food orders and receive their orders. This is a convenient place to visit to get some work done, but it is a disappointing set-up for a bookstore café.
