Micki’s Laundromat

Awesome service, nice people, super clean, and FAsT! I was on biz trip and they did great job with laundry service.

I can’t say enough about Arlene and Lenny. They are wonderful people and give me the best service I could ask for. Always comes and pick’s up our laundry and returns it on the same day.

I had the worst experience here. It was over the Summer when I dropped off a pair of dress shorts to be dry cleaned. I had dropped them off on a Monday and was told I could have them back by Thursday as I needed them to travel on a vacation. I stopped in Thursday morning to learn they weren’t ready. Upset, I shook it off. Upon my return from vacation I went to pick them up and was shocked when I found permanent black spots on my khaki shorts. Obviously unhappy I spoke with the women there who tried to tell me that that was the way I brought them in. Even when the sheet you fill out before then has no mention of spots. She essentially called me a liar. She refused to pay for a new pair since they were ruined and wouldn’t give me a refund. She was nasty and uncooperative. Do not go here for anything ever. Beware they will ruin or loose your belongings.

Wow, this place must have changed a lot because it’s awesome. Not only is the lady who works here extremely helpful but she watches over the place vigilantly. She smokes outside (never detect any smoke wafting in) and only does so if there is no one who needs her help. the moment someone new walks in, she puts out her smoke and immediately goes to help the newcomer. she couldn’t be kinder or more helpful. I had to use this laundromat when my washing machine broke and I got to really like hanging out there, folding my clothes in the quiet drone of the machines.

I dropped my laundry off and it was finished even before she stated. An entire suitcase of laundry was washed and folded for $ 28. Saved me from taking time out of my vacation to sit doing laundry. The women who worked there were courteous and helpful. I will definitely be back the next time I’m in newport.

We needed a place to wash clothes since we have been traveling for about a week. the lady that was working there was very helplful and friendly. Not only did she help us with the machines, she also gave us some nice tips about what to see in Newport. She was very sweet and helpful. We were grateful for this laundromat where we could wash our clothes ourselves.

And the recipient of my first ever 1 star review on Unilocal is — Micki’s Laundromat. The only thing this place has going for it is a convenient location for anyone who lives close to downtown Newport. Otherwise, Micki’s is a friggin dump.
Given it’s convenient location I’ve been here about 7 times over the past 2 years. I’ll try to sum it up in 4 bullets:
— The lady who works more often than not smokes like a chimney. Her smoking generally takes place just outside the door. I’d estimate a quarter of her exhaled smoke ends up inside the laundromat.
— I once dropped off laundry here and they lost my laundry bag. Funny thing was they claimed it wasn’t dropped off in a bag. I sure as hell didn’t come in with arms full of clothes to drop off…
— On two occasions I’ve been greeted by the lady who smokes like a champ at the door, warning me that dropped off laundry won’t be ready till next day. (We are talking early in the morning here) Maybe if she wasn’t so busy smoking she’d get the laundry done same day, no?
— The dryers here are old and need to be replaced. They are either too hot or not hot enough and there doesn’t seem to be a middle ground.
So bottom line — This place sucks. If you are looking for a good alternative — the laundromat in the Stop and Shop plaza on West Main is the best around, just a bit inconvenient.
