Pineapple’s on the Bay Restaurant

If you’re just looking for decent bar food, this is the place for you. I had a chicken burger, which was just average. My girlfriend had chicken fingers and they were very dry and hard to chew. The fries were undercooked and a bit soggy. Even though the food wasn’t great, the amazing view of the sunset over the water made up for it. Overall, it was a good time and it wasn’t the worst food we’ve had. Would recommend it for someone looking to have some drinks and see the sunset.

Worst service ever or I should say non service. Sign says sit yourself and someone will be over. 25 minutes later and nothing. Got up and left. No one even noticed. Never come here again.

This place was a good choice for nice views and a good place to bring the family. I got to relax with friends while our kids could eat some food and then run around on the grassy areas surrounding the place.
No problems with the staff but I wasn’t thrilled with the food or price. Limited selection of beer, wine. Everything is served in/​on plastic. Prices are high but I suppose you are paying for location.
Go, have fun. Just don’t go for quality food at a good value.

I was not too impressed with the food at Pineapple’s but it’s definitely still worth a visit for the view. Although the food is average and served on plastic plates and with plastic silverware, the environment absolutely makes up for it. Dining right on the water with a perfect view of the Newport bridge was amazing. At sunset, every customer receives a small complimentary glass of champagne and the entire restaurant raises their glass for a toast at the shot of a cannon. There was live music which made the experience more fun. The service was average. Our waitress came around every so often and was pretty nice. I was with a group of six and she was helpful and accommodating. I definitely recommend trying Pineapple’s but just know that the food won’t be the best you’ve ever had but the view absolutely will be. 3 stars for the food and service with an extra star for the location.

So sad to see a lot of menu items disappear along with the Monday night ½ price local menu night. I guess they don’t need local biz anymore. They looked like they were busy but still so sad. I know a lot of bartenders and waitstaff used to go there. I have no problem with them charging a lot of money for drinks because you are paying for that beautiful view but I cannot excuse bad food. They put in a great new outside bar but I feel they took a few steps backwards with some of their other choices.

the free champagne at sunset was a nice touch. Food wasn’t bad. However, the waitress added my side salad that came with the order as a separate salad for 6 dollars. That was a little annoying but otherwise everything was okay. Shrimp tacos were awesome.

The Quick: Go for a beachy drink and the view– sailboats, ocean, and a lighthouse!
The Details: Cannot comment on the food because we didn’t order any, but it looked mediocre at the tables near by. You come here for the fantastic view and tropical drinks. Perfect spot on a sunny day and absolutely gorgeous for sunset.
The Details: Tropical drinks (no umbrella sadly) $ 10.50. They were not very strong but very tasty. I’d make it last while you enjoy the paradise around you.

A few drinks w/​a stunning scenario. You have the option to dine out there, sit at the bar, better yet there are patio chairs where you can just sit back and stare off into the sunset. To top it off there is also a fireplace to make marshmallows!
This place is absolutely breathtaking!

Last night of the season at Pineapples. Water calm, warm and breezy. Killer view. Good drinks and apps. Sunset champagne, cannon and tribute to Veterans. Just got in under the wire before we had to wait til next year. Everybody needs to check this place out. It is idyllic! Can’t get any closer to the bay.

This is an average pool bar in an unbelievable setting. The atmosphere is enough to make you feel like you are in the carribean.
Come here to get away from it all and enjoy the view. The service and food is average but you really can get lost at this property with it’s sweeping views of the ocean.
Would have given 5 stars but the server took 15 minutes to even greet us at the table. I don’t know if they forgot about is or what but at a beach bar with prices like these I did expect more. I think this place is understaffed considering it is high season.
All in all a great experience and I will be back!!! 5 stars minus one for long wait initially.

We were referred to Pineapples by a local and felt compelled to check it out on a beautiful Sunday in June. We stayed at the Marriott, and while the location was amazing, the Hyatt was way more beautiful and resort like. I was a little jealous we didn’t stay here! Moving on, Pineapples is adorable, the view is amazing. The drinks were decent, (I didn’t think mine had much liquor in it)…they are also, very expensive. $ 10.50/each for a Dark & Stormy and Pina Colada. (We ended up paying $ 40 for a small app and two drinks…) Service was great. Anyway, it’s definitely a cute spot to checkout on a nice day.

Four stars are mostly due to the location and the view. Pineapple’s is definitely one of the top places in Newport to enjoy a sunset drink. The crowd can be pretty random considering this is a hotel bar. Patrons are dressed in everything from bikinis to formal wedding attire.
The food here is not very exciting. Though if you are looking to snack there are some decent pub food options. I’ve had some really delicious cocktails here, and a few bad ones. Service has also been hit or miss; so consistency is definitely an issue. There is usually parking at the hotel, but if there is an event you may be out of luck. The hotel is not far from downtown Newport… so I suggest walking, biking, or hailing a pedicab to drive you on over.
Bonus: there is a complimentary sunset toast pretty much every night complete with the firing of a canon. Perfect early spot to relax and enjoy one of the best views in Newport.

This is my ultimate happy place! Best view around! The food isn’t fancy. Sandwiches, burgers, etc… But all very decent. This place is not about the food though, it’s all about the atmosphere. They sometimes have live music, and the drinks are great. At sunset, they give you complimentary champagne and fire a small canon for a toast to the sunset. There is a firepit and adirondack chairs facing the water. They used to sell s’more kits in the hotel gift shop, but seemed to have stopped, so bring your own if you want to make s’mores and enjoy the view! It’s a blast!

For Newport, there are very very few places that have better views than Pineapples. It truly is stunning. I have eaten here a few times, and never been that impressed with the food, it seems to be nothing much more than bar food. Pass on the food.

I would highly recommend for those visiting here, to come here for a cocktail and the sunsets. To sit in the Adirondacks and listen to the waves crash. It transports you from a small man made island (goat island) to a tropical island in just the blink of an eye.

My uncle & I went here on Friday night & had a bad experience. The service here is seriously lacking. It’s almost as if they know they’ll get more customers (because of the gorgeous view), so they don’t prioritize the customers who are there. The hostess was nice but not very accommodating. They have this problem where people take chairs from other tables so that there are then several tables without chairs & they don’t have extra chairs! Therefore people are waiting a lot longer than necessary.
Due to the lack of chairs, we ended up sitting at a table with some friends. The waitress came over to give them their bill but never ask us what we wanted. She walked by a couple of other times without asking what we wanted. After about 30 minutes, the rest of our group left, which left us (still without food or drink) at a table for 8. I informed the hostess & asked if she wanted us to move, and she said no. When the waitress finally came over, she accused us of sitting without talking to the hostess first. When my uncle told her that we had been sitting there with our friends for awhile without service & that we were upset, she blatantly argued with him! If I weren’t starving by then, I would’ve left for sure!
After the waitress finally took our drink & food order, the hostess came over & said that she had made a mistake & that we couldn’t sit at the table. At this point we had been sitting there for 45 minutes & still hadn’t been served. My uncle told her that he was very angry & asked to speak to the manager.
The manager came over with a smile & first asked us who told us we could sit there, instead of asking what was wrong! When my uncle told him about the rude waitress, he said, «Well, she is a very good waitress. I find it hard to believe you’ve been waiting that long. I’ll talk to her & find out what the story is.» My uncle had just told him the story! What happened to the customer always being right?!
We ended up changing tables for them & having a decent dinner. The food was ok, but my entire experience was ruined by the service (or lack thereof).

Opening night of the Ice Bar: Um, a really cold venue for 3 mixed drinks in clear Solo cups. Been to frat parties more organized than this.
Give it a pass.

20 of us were here for a wedding from Los Angeles and quite a few from everywhere else. Our hub was Pineapple’s. This could be a bartenders nightmare. They had to deal with us for 3 days and not to forget the other tourists on vacation there. I have to tell you Jay the bartender was fantastic, you can imagine dealing with a big group of tourists from out of town hitting the bar. I only know Jay’s name who tended to me, The rest of the guys (bartenders) were able to handle all of us with no problems and with ease. They were great and friendly. As far as the food, I couldn’t tell you. I didn’t try it. It’s a great place to just chill and enjoy the view with friends.

After dinner on a Saturday night, a group of eight of us headed over to Pineapple’s to grab a drink and watch the sunset. What I can tell you is that I would never recommend this to anyone again, as I am sure there are plenty of other places with just as nice views to watch a sunset.
This review has nothing to do with either the food or the drinks, but rather how rude the bartenders were at Pineapple’s. Half of our group went up initially to get drinks while the rest of the group went to use the bathroom. The bartender asked me what I wanted to drink, while saying «Are you getting anything else» in a pretty irritable tone. There were four of us standing together ordering so I’m pretty sure he should have derived from that we were all waiting to order. He repeated the same thing until all had ordered. Again, I could survive with this.
We moved to the side while waiting for the rest of the group to return. When they did, they went up to the bar and waited to be served by the bartender. The bartender bounced around them, serving everyone at the bar besides the rest of our group. When the bartender approached a new couple that sat the bar, they gestured towards our friends and told the bartender that they had been waiting so they could go first. The bartender looked from my friends and then back to the new couple and said «Oh, they can wait» and then moved to the other side of the bar. I would say about a good twenty minutes or more went by until they rejoined us with their drinks.
Oh, and when we had first entered we had taken a pager for a table and the wait was quoted at 15 – 20 minutes, and my friend gave her ID to take a pager. When we finally left Pineapples about a hour and a half had passed and we were never called to the host stand. With empty tables present.
Don’t go here if you value service in any way, shape, or form.

If ever you’re looking for a spectacular view of all things Newport, then you must, absolutely, unquestionably have a glass of wine, or a special blue, green, pink or orange cocktail at Pineapple’s.
Though the drinks are fine, and the food selection is alright, Pineapple’s has the advantage of a beautiful bay view. It’s unmistakably gorgeous any time of the day, but sunset is the most sip worthy.

A bit on the pricey side but luckily we went on Monday when they had ½ price appetizers. Got the clam chowder which was creamy & good, wings (super spicey), parmesan fries (a bit salty), and calamari (super fresh). Our bill was $ 30 total for all of this food which was a nice deal and we were unable to finish all of the food.
The seaside view was great and so was the live music. If the food is too much on the pricey side, at least get a drink and enjoy the view.
