My doctor recently retired, and I was referred to Dr. Levin by an existing patient. It took four calls to get someone to talk with me(kept saying the call would be returned by the new patient coordinator who is apparently never there and does not, in fact, return calls). Finally did get her on the phone and when I asked if I could meet Dr. Levin before deciding to make him one of the most important people in my life(primary care physician) she told me he had no time for that. Nice. She then told me she could make a medication review appointment, and would call me back within two days to schedule. No such luck. A week later I had to call back. not there… called back again and got her on the phone. Said again that I was interested in meeting the man who would be responsible for my healthcare management and again… no time for that! Just go to the hassle of gathering and sending all of your medical records over without ever laying eyes on the doctor. I became a little annoyed at this point and expressed it(with no colorful language), at which point she said that this might not work out… she needed to think about it(nice power trip)…I apologized for being testy and said that I would have the records sent… told her I had some very important medication to continue(blood thinner) and didn’t want to risk it. No… she was’t sure this was going to «work out.» She did, however, say she would call me back. Wrong again. For all I know, Michael Levin is a brilliant physician, but I will never know. What I DO know, is that the people representing him have zero empathy for what the patient/PCP relationship means, and he should reticent to have them as the face of his practice.
