Aesthetics In Dentistry

I have been going to Dr. Mabry for over 3 years. What brought me here in the first place was my sister. I had decided to do something nice for my teeth to get ready for my daughter’s wedding. I had had my front teeth bonded by a cosmetic dentist about 10 years ago who suggested that I «round out my smile». I never noticed the improvement of the rounding and after about 5 years the bonding yellowed and would not whiten. So when I told my dentist about my plan, he suggested a prosthodontist in Wellesley who wanted to cap my teeth. I was about to spring for quite a bit of money plus endure the trauma of having my teeth whittled down to stubs when my sister suggested I see Dr. Mabry for a second opinion. In one morning session she removed the old bonding and whitened my teeth for a fraction of what it would have cost to have caps. And my teeth looked great. I also did invisalign and straightened out my bottom teeth. Since then I have continued with Dr. Mabry with whom I continue to be very happy.
I also love the clean, modern office, the wonderful, darling, professional, gentle, yet persistent hygenist (daughter of a dentist) who cleans my teeth like they have never been cleaned before. They have great magazines, tv, and the nicest, most welcoming receptionist (Amy) who communicates by email (so easy) and is flexible and friendly.
Dr. Mabry saved my teeth and saved me several thousand dollars. She understands what people want from a dentist: a beautiful smile.

Since Dr. Mabry is paying Unilocal to filter out bad reviews (6 posted, 27 filtered? Yeah, right…), here it is again:
(*Update: My most recent dentist looked at the filling done by Dr. Mabry and told me that it was failing, and was «way too big» not to be a crown. This is 2 years later; it has given me constant pain.)

Really not happy with any of the work done by Dr. Mabry.
I’m sure my review will be mysteriously «filtered» out, but let me assure you — I’ve gone here (several times).
Here are the things that turn me off about that office and the work they do:
1. It’s a dental factory. The treatment rooms are always full, the waiting room is always full, and there’s only one doctor — Dr. Mabry. That means she’s rushing between rooms and usually running behind.
2. She pushes the same package on EVERYONE. When I was there, I heard her pushing whitening, fillings, and invisalign on the two patients in the other rooms, one of whom appeared elderly. Oddly, this was the same package she pushed for me! Oh, and did I mention she dabbles in Botox? $$$$$!!!
3. Questionable hygiene. Dr. Mabry only occasionally wears a mask, and I’ve never seen her wear protective eyewear (other than her glasses). A few times, she came back into the room, put gloves on, and started poking around in my mouth without washing her hands first.
4. Stressful environment. You can see into the other treatment rooms from where you’re sitting, hear what’s going on, etc. No privacy, no tranquility.
5. Shoddy work. I’ve had a zillion fillings over my life and have NEVER had an issue with any of them, past getting them reshaped a bit. The work that Dr. Mabry has done was rushed and obviously faulty — a few of the fillings have given me constant pain, and they don’t match the color or contour of my teeth at all.
6. Hygienists doing things beyond their abilities. Dr. Mabry rushed out of the room several times, leaving the hygienists (who are eyeing the televisions WHILE they’re treating you!) to cure fillings, etc.
7. Unprofessional staff. I inquired about whitening and heard «Yeah, we have a Groupon deal going.» I took a handout about the procedure and was told that was only for people getting whitening. That was the only way I would have known what the procedure entailed. The receptionist is overextended.
I went here based on the reviews and kept going to complete the «treatment cycle». Now, I go elsewhere to have their crappy work fixed. I would never go back here!

We met Dr. Mabry and her office staff through a Group On last year. I moved up to MA from NY 6 years ago and kept going back to my dentist in NY because I couldn’t find someone I liked here. The Group On brought me in for a deal but it was Dr. Mabry, Amy, Amanda and everyone else in the office that has kept me going back.
The things I liked about the office aside from the staff are: the reminders via email for my appointments, the flexibility in trying to accommodate my crazy schedule, getting an estimate on my treatment so there are no surprises in billing and the cleanliness and modern look and feel to the office Best of all is Dr. Mabry herself who is always punctual for her appointments and makes you feel like you’re the only patient there. She takes an interest in making sure you’re comfortable with whatever treatment plan she recommends.

The one star refers more to the actual process than it does to the service provided by Aesthetics in Dentistry. Main reason I would never return:
1– Teeth did not whiten! And this is after 4 15-​min sessions, with the regular being 3 15-​min sessions. My teeth have general coffee stains, and this was more of a preventive measure for me– to get them a little whiter so that I can maintain with whatever home products I choose. NO ONE could tell I got a whitening. That was very upsetting, especially given…
2– It was extremely painful! I had to take the highest dosage of advil available, and they actually gave me more than the highest recommended, which I didn’t take because it could have awful effects on you stomach. The pain was sharp, sporadic and frequent. The sensitivity is something I NEVER want to experience again. Even being perfectly still with nothing touching my teeth hurt.
3– Once I get there they tell me that it would have been better for me to have had my general cleaning… Great, thanks for telling me this NOW that I am already in your office!
Upside:
1– Results vary
2– They were very nice
3– The receptionist went the extra mile for me, got me the advil, some numbing ointment, and even emailed me to check up on me that afternoon and the next day. If the process had worked, I would definitely have recommended the place just because of its service.
But it didnt, so I will never be back and will forever recommend that people invest in the crest stripes over this process.

I found myself at Aesthetics in Dentistry this morning as one of the almost 1,000 people who bought a Groupon for Zoom whitening and would definitely recommend this office to others.
Amy, the office manager, was wonderful on the phone, making an appointment was an unexpected breeze given the sudden growth of their client base. I wanted an early morning appointment which are usually the first to be snapped up, but only had to wait a few weeks.
Amanda was my tech and walked me through the entire Zoom process and was great about offering her opinions/​experience and answering any and all questions. Random fact learned this morning, dentists on the west coast do not utilize a spit sink, who knew?
Only less than positive piece was another individual came in to the room while I was Zooming (you sit there for 15 minutes at a time looking ridiculous, see others’ pictures) without saying hello or acknowledging me in any way, just felt strange as it’s a very tiny space. She then cleaned off the equipment which shook my chair repeatedly, not a huge deal, just struck me as odd that she wouldn’t say hello or don’t be alarmed your chair will be moving type thing especially given the attention that Amanda had paid to all details.
Also of note, you will not see the dentist, so if that is important to you, just a heads up. In terms of results, definitely a couple shades lighter, but nothing earth shattering. I had nightmares of leaving looking like Ross from Friends, so I am happy to fall on the conservative side of the spectrum! :)

Aesthetics In Dentistry, Dr. Mabry and staff takes the cake and is a clear winner if there were ever a reason to see your dentist for more than your recommended 2 cleanings a year!
The office is staffed by friendly and professional WOMEN that places you in a peaceful state from the moment you walk in to the time you leave. Now this is important as many, many, many people have a fear and disdain for dentists.
I went for the promotional teeth whitening by Zoom! I left less than 1.5hrs later and four (4) shades WHITER! I was thoroughly impressed and more than satisfied by the treatment. I was shocked at the instant results and placated to my need for instant gratification (especially in this NOW and ME society.)
I highly recommend taking advantage of the Zoom! teeth whitening by Dr. Mabry. I went in b/​c of the promotional offer and found myself a new dentist.
Post review for the men. Did I mention the staff of all women? =)

My family has gone to Dr. Mabry for more than ten years. She has wonderful bedside manner as well as clinical skill. She makes the patient feel comfortable. She explains the procedures that she is doing clearly. Her dental hygienists are also skillful, and do excellent cleanings. The office is very clean and pleasant to be in. I would recommend Dr. Mabry to anyone who needed just cleanings every six months to someone who needed a three unit bridge. She caters to everyone’s dental needs.
