Citibank

The manager (first sit from the front door…) mislead me regarding to a cashier check, he could pick up his phone and call the other bank clear the cashier check right away instead of having me drove all the way to Boston, waste my entire day to go to another bank then wire transfer the money back to my citi account, as a citi gold, I strongly don’t recommend this manager. However most of the teller are really nice here but they can’t do much…

Citibank is yet another evil corporation, yet I have been banking with this branch for about 18 months. They are great! the employees are always nice, try to help you with issues, resolve problems (and as I am new to the US I had quite a few) and like the TD bank commercial you have a chance to bank human. It is open on Sat and I always seem to come in at the last minute and I never felt someone was showing me the door. So, if you are working with Citi, for a million reasons, like being a big global bank, and you live in the metro west area consider using this branch. My wife started her account in new york and said these two branches seem to belong to different banks in terms of quality of service.

I had a really bad experiance with Citi Bank in Newton Center Ma. I had money in an account and was getting the typical low interest, I also had an account at Citizens Bank and they offered me a much better interest rate. When I advised the manager of Citi Bank in Newton, she said that they had a new promotional program and that if I give them (Citi) another $ 10,000 in new money I could get 1.25% interest rate. I jumped at the chance because I was dealing with a lot of money (it was my life savings) Two months later, I checked my account on– line and saw that I was not getting the interest promised to me. When I got to the bank to find out what was going on, the manager was not there but the teller told me that it was only a promotional program for a three month period. That I would get the interest promised after the three months were over and then the interest would drop to what it was before. I was amazed, being misled by a bank executive was unconscionable to me. To not be able to trust bank executives and be lied to by a bank. Very sad commentary. Buyer beware. Now we even have to be weary and careful of our bank executives. Banks have always been the backbone and corner– stone of our country, bank executives were people we were able to rely on and trust without question. Well you won’t find that at Citi Bank in Newton Center Mass.

The worst people do deal with when you have a problem are airline personnel, cell phone customer service and bankers… But citibank is great. I travel a lot and most often I don’t tell them when or where I am going (seriously who does that). I got my credit card number stolen while visiting chicago and Citibank called me and corrected the issue. Bravo citibank fraud detection. No, I did not want $ 118 worth of Chicago newspapers.
Then a few months later they overnighted me a new card with another new number, just because they thought it would be valuable before I left for Australia (for out of the country trips I remember to call ahead so I don’t get locked out of fund — Paris has enough banking strikes for me to be worried about, not being able to use my cc would not be a good thing)
So I give a thumbs up to this credit card company.

It pains me to give a glowing review to a soulless, cold, multinational corporation. However… this particular branch of Citibank has always given me the services I need and the convenience to do my banking under some unusual circumstances.
I live in the Boston area but I have family in several different parts of the country… and sometimes I leave the area for continuing education or business. I needed a bank that would allow me to enter any branch anywhere and make me feel like I was doing business at home. The staff at the Newton Center branch set me up with services that I can take to Colorado, Texas, New York, or wherever else I go. When I looked for preferred interest rates they showed me how to qualify easily, how to combine accounts to get the best rates and how to reduce the fees I’d pay.
Moreover, the staff has never failed to give detailed and clear explanations of their policies and procedures. While I’m not (yet) a millionaire they treat me — and every other customer — like one. The branch itself is always kept clean and neat and is easy to navigate. Very rarely have I ever run into a serious line or delay — their people make taking care of customer a priority. I’m quite favorably impressed and I’ll look forward to working with them in the future.
