Coco Nail and Spa

Lost my regular business. Owner is downright rude. They are not as clean as they appear to be. They always have new, unskilled people that they allow to do your nails. I used to love this place. Has gone way downhill in the last six months or so. Most of the women that work there are very very nice– besides the owner. The owner will regularly switch women on you in the middle of a manicure/​pedicure. Sorry, but bye bye coco.

I went here about a week ago for a mani with a friend. Admittedly we came in later in the day and closer to closing, but we were assured that there was time and they would do our nails. Helen did my nails, and it was by far the worst manicure I have ever gotten. When working on my cuticles she did not even touch the skin while «trimming them,» she simply made the motions. She then painted the whole nail on only some of my fingers, painting the top middle portion but not the sides of others. The clear top coat was not even and did not cover all of the color polish, which was uneven at the base of every nail. There were also streaks on some of my nails. I have heard other people have had more positive experience, but, needless to say, I will not be back.

I’m writing a follow up review, specifically about my experience on 8÷25÷15 with a particular technician.
Let me just start saying that I live right down the block from Coco and although it’s a little bit more pricey than other nail salons, I continue to come back because: 1) it is very clean 2) I love the little extras they include that other salons don’t such as the parraffin wax with the pedicure and the hot lotion with the standard manicure 3) the excellent neck massages. I come in on average every three weeks.
On 8÷25÷15, I came in for a regular pedicure. I did not request any one in particular and happened to be paired with a technician that I believe is new; I have never seen her before and by her behavior she seemed to not have any confidence and was very disorganized. First, the water was extremely hot. I told her this once and I thought she adjusted it, but it was still so hot that I could definitely see the hot air rising. Second, I asked for her to file my toe nails round; she was so passive that when I did a check, my toe nails were still sharp and ridged. I also noticed that she barely even cut my cuticles. I noticed that some of the technicians seemed to be glancing at her, which I assumed meant that they were keeping an eye on her. Finally Stephanie came over to check in and I asked her to make sure that my technician filed the nails more and cut the cuticles more. The tech then said that she would have to wait a while to file the nails down more because my feet had been soaking in the water for too long. Then came the part for the hot stones… First, she forgot the parraffin wax. And then as she was rubbing my feet/​calves with the hot stones, Stephanie came over to re-​file my nails. Then she started painting them and after two toes, removed the polish and walked away. I asked Stephanie what she was doing and said that the tech had to get a new bottle because it was thick. At this point, Kim came over and finished polishing my nails and then gave me an amazing neck massage while my toe nails dried.
I appreciate that Stephanie and Kim acknowledged that I was having a very bad experience and did their best to correct my tech’s wrongs. However, I don’t think that I should have been charged the full price since my tech neglected to give me the parraffin wax. I go to this salon purposely and know that I’m going to pay a few extra dollars but I expect the best.

I have been here loads of times and found it satisfying. And it is my daughter’s first choice. She is a kid and they have always charged us their kid mani/​pedi rate. Today they said she is too «large in size» and charged us the adult rate, which is more than miniluxe for a teenager. We will NOT be back. You can’t discriminate based on a child’s size!

Mediocre at best. She barely buffed my feet and couldn’t care less. Definitely an expensive no frills polish change for the price of a full pedicure. But I guess, at least my toe nails were painted.

Coco Nail Salon was recommended to me by my waxer– Candyce at Salon Capri (whom I adore and will travel two hours round trip to see) and it has since become my absolute favorite nail salon, period– far exceeding mani/pedi’s I have paid exorbitant amounts of money for at tony day spas. I am just returning from a nearly 2.5 hour paraffin manicure and peppermint pedicure that was simply extraordinary– it was unbelievably relaxing and my nails and skin have never looked this perfect. The staff is incredibly nice, the atmosphere relaxing without being snooty and the entire salon is impeccably clean. Five stars

Just received one of the worst most painful pedicures ever. The girl literally filed my skin around all my toes. Not enjoyable!!!

I would have given this 5 stars if I only got a pedicure because the pedicure was fantastic but the manicure was pretty shitty. The lady doing it had to thin out the Polish with acetone so it was super thin and needed like 10 coats to get the color. I asked if she could get a new bottle but she seemed pretty determined to use the old one and I didnt want to be a jerk. but it left uneven layers and tones and I wish I had the color at home to redo some of them. Highly recommend the pedicure though

This place is lovely! We stopped by last minute and I am so glad we did. They were very kind and accommodating. My nails look beautiful and I will definitely become a regular here.

I went to Coco for the second time yesterday and I’m sold. The atmosphere is pleasant, everything is clean, and the staff are welcoming. I have gotten a mani-​pedi both times here but I will definitely be coming back for gel!
The pedicure is nice because they don’t rush, scrub my feet well, and spend a significant time massaging… All top priorities for me. They have TVs on the news but no sound which is nice. I prefer the classical music playing in the background.
I also really enjoyed the manicure even though, this past time, they did it at the same time as my pedicure. They use a great paraffin glove that is disposable so you get a new one every time.
With the added bonus of a mini back massage while you’re drying… I can’t imagine I would find a more quality nail salon in the area. Prices aren’t bad but it’s not cheap either so be prepared to spend a little extra for a quality service.

This was my second time coming to Coco. I called ahead for a 4:45pm appointment which they honored when I arrived. They recommend appointments because they seem to get really busy during afterwork hours.
I had a mani and pedi which were completed in an hour, which I loved! Someone was working on filing and shaping my nails while my toes were being done. Everyone was very nice and helpful and the place seemed very clean. The only negative I thought was that it seemed to get really busy around 5pm.
I’ll be returning for sure!

I used to love this place and it was the best nail salon that I have ever been to. I took my mom and my friends. Everyone raved about it after. It was recently sold and has completely changed staff. The prices are still the same, but the quality has gone downhill. I don’t mean the quality in the finished product, but it used to feel like you were going to a spa. Everything is now rushed. It is just your typical nail salon with a pretty paint job. You don’t feel special when you go in. The new owner has no customer service skills and is rude when you talk to her. Staff even rolls their eyes. I’ll be looking for a new place.

Great experience here! Very relaxing and clean. I didn’t feel rushed and my pedicure looked awesome. Will definitely be returning.

Great place! A pedicure is $ 35 which comes with hot stones, and a back message. They put detail into your pedi. I only wish callus scrubbing part lasted longer, which I later found out is $ 10 if you need to get a lot off. I’ll be back

Absolutely horrible! They don’t even deserve the one star. Went in to get a pedicure and manicure. Manicure was rushed. My nails ended up different lengths and the cuticles were left uncut. Nail technician was in such a rush to help another client that I got pushed out to wait in a pedicure chair for another tech to do the pedicure and paint my nails. Pedicure tech had to redo manicure and fix what first tech was too ‘busy’ to do.
An absolute horrible experience. It didn’t seem like they wanted me as a client from the moment I walked through the door! Will definitely never go back!!!

Coco nails is really good. You can count on the place to be clean and the people to be nice. They seem to always have a spot when you walk in unannounced.
There is a bit of a language barrier — but the nail technicians seem to understand most of what is said–
The manicures and pedicures are really good– not great. It’s a value and I would recommend.

I love this place. I can always count on them being available for a mani or a mani-​pedi even if I just walk in. They give awesome massages with every service and the ladies are so nice! Make sure you bring cash though, because they won’t take a card if it’s less than $ 15 and prefer cash for tips. Oh! And they do this cool wax dip that leaves your hands and feet baby-​soft!

A co-​worker recommended this salon… it is the best and most high-​quality nail place I have been to in the Boston area. The service and the employees are professional and I never feel rushed. I live in Boston but make the trek out to Newton because it is 100% worth it.
I also want to share that I damaged my big toe nail a few times over the years from surfing etc, and it ended up breaking at one point and becoming unsightly. I decided to ask a nail technician from Coco if they would do a silk wrap on my toenail to repair the appearance of the nail. Not only did they do a fabulous job – my toe nail grew back in healthy, and I was never embarrassed to have bare feet in the summer.

One more caveat: I am originally from NY and used to a more quality nail salon culture… since I have moved to Boston I have been very disappointed with the nail salons here– not only are the prices way higher, the employees seem to rush you wherever you go, and I have had several bad experiences. I have found that even the nail salons in the wealthier Boston neighborhoods are TERRIBLE when it comes to service.
Not so with Coco… they are amazing! Five stars!

Chelsea, korean nail tech did my mani/​pedi. It’s expensive here at $ 45. They follow all the regulations in terms of pre packaged opening of sterile utensils. They use a hot black stone and paraffin wax for the heel.
6 pedi chairs with a plastic lining in the foot tub. I’m wondering if they wash it carefully afterwards?
The tip of my nails were not sealed at the edges so we will see how long it lasts before it starts tearing apart.
I’m disappointed they did not take a very long time meticulously cutting my «cuticles». They do a light shoulder/​rub while you are drying your nails.

CoCo is as always my favorite place to get my nails done. Sarah and her amazing team are the best.
Tonight Sarah did Ombré nails for me in a cool, trendy lavender gradient. Everyone has commented on how neat it is.
They start very lite and get progressively darker. It looks great.
She promised to make a new color palette for next week, loving it!
