Get up, get in your car, and drive to Newton for the best donuts in life. People go out of their way for these donuts for a reason. They are made week taste well and perfect! Now when I try other donuts I realiZe they don’t compare to how amazing these are. They only take cash so make sure you take plenty so u can try everything! Their peanut butter twist thing is one I always get. Eat relax and enjoy! I’d i could freeze them and eat them later I would.

Many great high school memories started with a simple donut trip to Drubers! There aren’t many places in this area that are active around 11:00 — 2:30 so it may sound silly to think of this as «nightlife“but for Newton Kansas this is probably one of the best clean«nightlife» scenes you’re going to get. Unless you want to go to a smelly truck stop for halfway decent milk shakes… And if you haven’t already heard by now the donuts really are fresh and delicious, their is a reason why all the kids come here other than that fact that it’s open late.

I came to Druber’s Daylight Donuts with my girlfriend who is from Newton. She praised it as though it was the best thing since donuts were invented. Period. The hours are great she said, they open at night for the college kids & stay open through the morning for the older regulars that have been coming here for generations she said. I believed her because she’s smart & I was hopeful because she said they also have awesome Bierocks with 4 flavors(Taco, BBQ, Ham & Cheese that reminds her of her child hood growing up & my classic fave original with onions, cabbage & ground beef like I had growing up as a good Catholic school boy jk) My day got better when I saw the coffee is fairly priced at $ 1.45& cappuccino $ 2.40 for the large. Take that Starbucks. Their donuts are 60 cents each & $ 6.60 per dozen. Compared to Dunkin donuts 95 cents & $ 8.99 per dozen. Good job again. That’s all the good news. Sorry but I’m not usually the one to complain about a small business but I see Druber’s as the business that’s ran like it’s still the 1960s. It’s usually a restaurant that has dated pictures of trains on the wall, the countertops are the same original yellow hue as your grandparents house which was built in 1920. The floorboard creaks in some spots. The AC is a window unit that isn’t turned on since it’s November but today is oddly hot 63 outside but closer to 80 inside because of the ovens. The restrooms are behind the kitchen counter. Who does that? There’s no wifi, no electrical outlets to plug in your laptop computers, phones, or other mobile devices. And yet, this Daylight Donuts survives. They may in fact be doing OK. The food is still pretty good. There remains a loyal customer base of older retired people here in the mornings and college crowds in the evenings. I believe the business does well because it has little competition in the neighborhood besides Charlie’s truck stop that has food 24⁄7 but no donuts except the gas stations around town. Finally, for my lack of 5 star review is that this place is making one colossal mistake: «Sorry, we don’t accept credit cards.» Do you ever hear this at bigger donut shops, coffee shops, or 7-Elevens? I asked, why not? «I’ve been here 18 yrs. Nothing’s changed» said the Daylight Donut Lady. Here’s a fact: many people aren’t carrying cash anymore. You will have to accept credit cards, and soon you will have to accept electronic payments. Don’t try to pretend that we, your customers, don’t know the real reasons why you don’t accept credit cards. You don’t want to pay the extra fees, right? Yes, there are fees. All the credit card companies charge them. And so do mobile payment services such as PayPal and Square. Welcome to 2015. Remaining cash only may not only cost you new customers, but keeping the ones that you have. I may really like the Donuts at the little family joint in Newton, but I’m getting tired of the«we only accept cash» sign that hangs in front of the register. There are plenty of other places in Newton that serve a good cup of coffee who accept credit cards, have wifi, and let me charge my phone while on Unilocal

Came here for the first time ever tonight! Had the peanut butter roll off of suggestion and it was 100% worth it. The family who runs the place is very friendly. Awesome place for us Tabor kids and surround small areas to flock to for a late night snack! Definitely recommend!

These doughnuts are some of the best(if not the best) doughnuts I’ve eaten. I don’t want to hype it up and have your expectations dashed, but seriously, great doughnuts at great prices! If you want doughnuts and this place is open, there’s no need to stop anywhere else! Make sure you take cash or a check though. They don’t take credit cards.

this is an old fashioned place that knows if youre doing something right, you dont change it. Moved here to Newton from Tx and i heard all about how this was THEPLACE to be in Newton. Now that ive been there, i can see why. Its timeless charm and warm atmosphere is the perfect combination of what makes America great. And the fresh twists are the bomb.

This place is timeless. If you have not been by Druber’s in the last couple of years, it has yet to change. This is one of the very few places in Newton that is open late for the insomniacs, drunks, HS/College kids, and people who have a sweet tooth for something fresh. They have all kinds of drinks to choose from and the fresh smell of hot donuts. It feels nostalgic to order some long john donuts with a carton of chocolate milk to hit the spot. I do miss the donuts they used to have that had cherries in them.

I’ve lived all over the country, and I have never had better donuts than Druber’s. I love love love them. And I love the fact that they have wheat donuts and wheat donut holes. And I love their meat pies. When I was a kid(15 years ago), they had the greatest chocolate chip cookies, but then they changed their recipe or something, and now they’re mediocre. I used to go there right as they opened and get a donut that hadn’t been frosted yet and that was still warm. Sounds weird, but it’s GOOD!

Oh man this place is great for late night gatherings. I remember when I use to live in Newton, we use to come here all the time. After moving away for a while, I came back to visit. The place hasn’t changed much and it’s still awesome. We make it a habit to stop by and eat at least once each time we come. It’s a small town donut shop with lots of appeal.

I LOVEIT!!! —- and it’s coming from a Krispy Kreme fan! Druber’s Donut is the best. When they open the shop at 11.00 pm, the whole town is filled with sweet scent of sugar and spice! I love their donut. Everything tastes great. The peanut butter glazing is heavenly delicious. Muffins are first-rate. It reminds me of a summertime. Now, I’m 1,300 miles away from Newton and I miss it so much. Sure, I have Krispy Kreme right around the corner but nothing compares to homemade donut & muffins I had at Druber’s.

Ah, Druber’s. I have such fond childhood memories of you. My mom used to work at the newspaper across the street, which is perhaps part of the reason we stopped in semi-regularly. As a three to five year-old, I was a big fan of the bear claw, donut holes, and long John with either chocolate milk or hot chocolate, depending on the season. I guess some things never change. Druber’s is your classic small-town, old school donut shop. You’ll be sure to see primarily locals and that group of old men at the corner table who’ve been coming every morning for coffee and donuts since anyone can remember. The donuts are cooked fresh each morning and they are delicious! Step aside Krispy Kreme, you got nothin’ on Druber’s! (P.S. Although I was born in Newton, I grew up in Oregon and I think it’s kinda funny that all of these reviews have been written by West Coasters. We must be starved for a good fried pastry.)

If you want the best donut you’ve ever had AND a place to hang out all night long, then Druber’s is the place for you. Swing by around opening time(10 or 11PM) and you will find a pack college kids from one of the many local small colleges. A couple hours later the next wave of college kids will hit, these ones will be in for the long haul. Once they filter out around 2 or 3 the place is ready for the early morning trucker crowd. ] As far as ambiance goes, I am sure this place hasn’t updated since the late 60s or early 70s, and that’s how it should be. The baffling round/octoganal table is great for large groups and board games. My two gripes about Druber’s are these: One, the owner/manager can get uptight when a group of kids gets rowdy. Two, using the restroom is kind of a sketchy adventure – you’ve got to kind of battle your way through the kitchen and make it to the back of the store!
