Essential Circles of Life is an Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Clinic serving the greater Hickory North Carolina area since 2003. Shay Cline is a licensed acupuncturist in NC and NM and has his Diplomate of Oriental Medicine from the N.C.C.A.O.M.
We specialize in Japanese Meridian Therapy, a gentle yet effective form of acupuncture that is well suited for those with fear of needles or needle sensitivities. We also specialize in Shonishin, a non-invasive style of pediatric acupuncture that doesn’t involve needles and can be very effective in the treatment of many childhood illnesses.
In conjunction with Acupuncture, Shay may at times utilize Chinese Herbal Medicine as well as Nutritional Supplements in order to help increase the efficacy of treatment and bring about a speedier recovery.

Essential Circles of Life was established in order to provide a complimentary approach for treatment in conjunction with modern western medicine, chiropractic, massage and other treatment modalities.
It is our hope to help facilitate a positive change in our patient’s overall condition that will create harmony in their physical, emotional and spiritual life.

Shay C.
Business Owner
Shay Cline L. Ac., D.O.M. (N.M.) graduated from the International Institute of Chinese Medicine in Santa Fe, N.M. in 2002 with a Master’s Degree in Oriental Medicine. He is a licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine in New Mexico as well as a licensed acupuncturist in North Carolina. He holds a Diplomat of Oriental Medicine from the NCCAOM, the national accrediting agency for acupuncture and oriental medicine in the United States. He primarily practices Japanese Meridian Therapy but also practices Chinese style acupuncture as well as Chinese Herbal Medicine.
He has also completed a one year live-in apprenticeship with T. Koei Kuwahara in Boston, MA in which he gained valuable clinical experience in the art of Hari; Mr. Kuwahara’s refined version of Toyohari which was created by his teacher Fukushima Kodo.
