I have come to this liquor store on many occasions and have had positive experiences. The staff is very helpful and conscientious of your needs. Not the cheapest but hey we’re Newton and it’s in ta very convenient location with their own parking lot.

The guys in here are super friendly. They help me find wine I am looking for. I mainly stop in to bring a cheap bottle of wine to enjoy with dinner on a week night. They have helped me substitute wines that I have been looking for with comperable ones. They have a pretty decent selection for being a small, cheap liquor store. Big negative: It smells like the morning after a frat party. I think a few too many beers/wines have spilled in in the backroom or on the carpeting.

Usually if i really want beer, I’ll head to the big beer store on Needham St., but there are also plenty of times where i want beer and i’ve already been drinking. And it is this subset of occasions where the role of the local liquor store becomes rather crucial. Now, this particular store has historically been pretty wine-focused, and the beer selection hasn’t always been great, but in the past year or so, I’ve noted a really sharp improvement in both the quality and quantity of the beers they carry. More full coolers of more, better beers, partially at the expense of crappy ones. Ironically, the other night, i was looking for a crappy beer to watch the debate with(good beer = Obama, bad beer = McCain), and even then, i managed to find a six-pack of Narragansett cans. I’ve no use for wine, personally, so i can’t comment on it other than that they seem to offer tastings roughly fifty percent of the time i’m there. In summation, the more beers the fewer blocks away, the happier i am.

Top reasons I love this shop: 1) I can walk in one minute before closing and the staff is helpful and friendly 2) Great recommendations for beer, wine and port 3) Beer tastings
