Ideal Tile

We went there on Sunday to get tiles for our bathroom. They had a great selection of tiles! We worked with Gina who was so helpful. She was very knowledgable about all their products and was able to offer good advice on what styles/​colors went together. We are so happy we talked to her or we would have ordered ones that weren’t a great match for our bathroom. If you go there ask for Gina!

Poor service. Negative attitude from owner. Not very helpful in the design process.

I have been thrilled with Ideal Tile. They supplied all the tile for the new house we are building. Their tile is of the highest quality – whether it was high-​end, handmade imported Italian tile for accent walls or modestly-​priced stock tile for lower-​priority areas. They provided excellent service with exceptional follow-​through and attention to detail. Their prices beat those of other local vendors we considered. I highly recommend them for all tile needs.

This store has a huge selection of the newest and trendy tiles, marble, granite and also beautiful selection of tile murals and art work grade mosaics. You can tell that they work hard to stay up with the trends and educate themselves on the best materials and design options available to stay current. They were patient and helpful. The space is nicely organized and displays are current for flooring, bathrooms and all stone work needs.

We had a great experience with Ideal Tile. Everyone on staff basically drops what they’re doing, when you walk in the door,– to help you. We worked specifically with Lisa when ordering the tile and she was greatly helpful with our design questions. She always responded quickly to phone calls, and in general, was professional and friendly as she assisted us. We had some unfortunate problems with our contractor when it came to installation and Tahla stepped in to save the day. He came by our place, on his own time, to assess the work and then recommended «the only person who would have the patience to deal with this» (the problem installation), who worked out just great. We had shopped around quite extensively before walking into Ideal Tile while we were across the way at Splash. We feel very fortunate that we did, as the customer service here was steps above what we experienced elsewhere.

In 2009, I did a gut renovation in Cambridge. While looking at plumbing fixtures at Splash in Newton, I visited Ideal Tile, which was across the parking lot. I did this on a whim, because until that point I had planned on using either Roma Tile or Tile Showcase in Watertown for all my bathroom tile stuff. [I used Roma for a previous renovation in 2000 and really liked them — I think I dealt with Jim there. Tile Showcase has an amazing showroom, and I really liked John the manager, but they don’t make Saturday appointments to meet with customers in the showroom — «only walk-​ins on Saturdays» — so it was logistically impossible for us to work with them.]
Anyway, at Ideal Tile on Needham St. in Newton, I ended up working 80% with Talha and 20% with Lisa. They were both very creative and thoughtful; their design help was unparalleled. I gave them my own ideas for design and materials, and they showed me what they thought would work best based upon those ideas. We had a series of meetings. The end result was spectacular. We did 2 full baths and 1 powder room, using a variety of marble and glass tiles with classic Greco-​Roman borders.
In addition, Talha worked with me and my architect to design and fabricate a big custom marble sink. We designed the sink ourselves from a SOLID block of Carrera marble. The top was about 45“L x 24“D x 7“H, it sat on two marble slab legs, and it weighed a ton (it took 6 big guys just to lift the top onto the legs when it was installed). Talha had it fabricated in China, because he said that’d cost about ¹⁄₃ of what an Italian version would cost. They actually sent some progress pics from China along the way, so we could watch the guy making it. And when it arrived, it was PERFECT, all for a very reasonable price (just like the tile).

Thus far, I am very happy with my interactions with Ideal Tile (tile is not yet installed however). They have a nice showroom and helpful sales associates. Jason, an interior designer, helped me with my tile and grout selections. Their prices seem to be mid-​range. They delivered the tile when promised. Definitely recommend them.
Update ⁸⁄₁₁ — I took away one star. I would still recommend them, but I was a little less pleased when I realized they miscalculated and did not order enough tile. It has led to a multi-​week delay, which is annoying. Make sure you double-​check that the amount of tile ordered is what you actually need.

Finding the marble along with its decorative accent pieces the way we like for our shower and backsplash was a tougher adventure than we expected. We went to 2 more showrooms other than Ideal Tile and they had some good items in their store and the staff was nice. But the professional way they reach to our project, the design ideas that really helped and on time delivery service realized us our decision was right on target. Their extensive product line was another plus.
During the project we encountered some installation problems. The underlayment wasn’t done properly and shower pan was not installed right. They warned us about this issue and saved us a lot from doing our project all over again.
Definitely recommend this company.

I recently purchased my tile for a bathroom renovation project. The tile is still new, so how it will stand the test of time remains to be seen. However, the tile itself is beautiful. There was one minor snafu where a trim piece was was ordered that was the incorrect depth for the tile I selected. The store did order the piece based upon the manufacturer’s specifications; nevertheless, it did not fit. After some back and forth, the store agreed to refund the purchase price for the trim piece. I was somewhat disappointed that I had to haggle over that, since the trim piece was only $ 16 out of $ 6000 order. However, they did comply, and the tile was delivered right on time, and my salesperson was very responsive. Their prices aren’t low, but sometimes price isn’t everything.

We bought bathroom tiles here. Their selection was good and the owner delivered the purchased items to our house in a timely manner during the construction. Prices vary and this is not a discount tile store but you will get a break if you get to know the owner. There are many tile stores around Boston and we later noticed that there are bigger selections out there which means that next time we will look at other options but overall we were happy with this Ideal Tile and their product and service. I also think that if we found something else that they did not have then we could have asked them to order it… something you may want to do if you like Ideal Tile’s service but see selections elsewhere that are not available here.
