The Goldsmith at Chestnut Hill Mall

I brought a bunch of high end watches here to be serviced, and I was very satisfied. The sales staff were super professional, and my watches were expertly serviced/​repaired by their watchmaker. I subsequently bought several pieces of silver as well from Barbara who is very knowledgeable and friendly. This is the kind of personal service that brings me back time and time again. I highly recommend this place.

This is a long overdue review for the team at The Goldsmith. I’ve been a loyal customer for two years now and have entrusted my Swiss watch to them for a bracelet repair (perfect), battery change (done on the spot), jewellery valuations (efficient) and, most recently, I had my beautiful diamond engagement ring setting re-​cast in platinum (gorgeous). We all agreed that the setting wasn’t quite right when compared with the original on the first attempt and so it was done once more, very graciously and without any fuss at all, and I’m delighted with the result. Everyone at The Goldsmith is friendly, courteous and professional and I have a hard time associating the people I know there with some of the comments I’ve read in other reviews.

I brought in a diamond bracelet which I had inherited ten years ago but never wore. I had a few ideas about what I wanted in a necklace and the owner sat down with me and spent the time discussing the options and coming up with a design, all carefully thought out. The final work was done beautifully and finished exactly when I was told it would be ready. The price was extremely fair. All the store employees and the owner were extremely polite, friendly and professional. I look forward to working with The Goldsmith again.

Helped me with making my wedding ring look good as new– the engraving of leaves on the ring had all but disappeared but they restored beautifully. Great consult on candlesticks as well. Beautiful jewelry and gifts.

I love the personal service at The Goldsmith. Anytime I’ve gone in I received nothing less then A+ service. I’ve both purchased and had repairs done numerous times. They carry a unique selection of jewelry, both contemporary and estate pieces. Ruben is happy to assist along with his proficient staff of smiling and helpful people. A wonderful full service jewelry store.

I’m very impressed with the service at Goldsmith. Ruben, the owner, is hands on and makes sure that you are happy with product you are buying. He doesn’t pressure at all. My wife once lost a diamond earing and Ruben was able to match the other exactly and make a pair again. I have also purchased a nice watch from Goldsmith – their prices are very reasonable. Highly recomended!

Do not take your nice jewelry here! I just got back from the Cartier store where I paid over $ 1,000 to undue the damage this establishment did to my watch. The Goldsmith told me they were sending it out to Cartier for a full service and charged me the $ 450 standard Cartier service pricing. The only problem is Cartier has confirmed that the watch has never been serviced by them. Cartier also told me that Goldsmith is 100% responsible and the work they did to my watch has severely damaged it. They lied to me and completely ruined my watch. I have never experienced such sleazy business practices in my whole life. Absolutely disgusting.
EDIT: I would just like to add that no one from The Goldsmith has contacted me and of course I did not take my watch back there after what they did to it. The message below is a lie as they have not tried to resolve the situation in anyway. I am also curios how they can even try to find any records with just my first name and last initial.
EDIT 2: This just continues to get more disgusting. My mother called the Goldsmith to try to resolve the issue; since, according to their message below, that’s what they want to do. WRONG. My mother spoke to someone who said they would refund her the money and then no one ever called her back. This happened about two weeks ago.
Just now I received a threatening message from who I am assuming is the owner. He claimed I must be lying since there is no Cartier watch under a Sarah H in their database. That makes sense because it is my mother’s watch and she dropped it off. You spoke with her very recently and know that you ruined her Cartier watch. So why are you now sending me with awful notes when you know I am speaking the truth? The watch would be under her name and you have a record of it because you spoke with her on the phone about what happened. You have never returned her call again like you said you would to refund the horrible number you did on her watch. To now resort to threatening me for telling the truth about my mother’s watch that you ruined, and failed to take responsibility for, is not just bad business it is criminal. Return my mothers calls and resolve the problem; please do not send more nasty notes over Unilocal

My mother happened to be in town visiting and she ended up breaking the safety chain to her 18k bracelet. We decided to bring it into this store to see if we could get it fixed in time before she left. It was a simple fix, nothing too complex but it needed to be sent out. We were there on a Saturday and were told it would be fixed by Wednesday. Also, they said they would call when it was ready.
Well, it’s Wednesday, and by 5:30PM I hadn’t received a phone call, so I called them to see if I could pick it up. The woman who answered the phone (I won’t name names) said she’d have called if it were ready. After I told her that I was told it would be ready by today, she took my number and got off the phone to check. She called me right back saying they actually did have it, so I was eager to pick it up.
When I got there, I gave them my name and I was given my mother’s bracelet, by whom I believe answered the phone when I had called, to review the work. WHAT. A. MESS. It seems that to «repair» a gold chain means to make a big glob of melted gold and poke two holes on opposite ends of it. It was the WORST soldering job I’ve ever seen. Even one of the «holes» wasn’t even closed at the top – meaning it will easily break.
When I expressed my discontent for the glob, the woman quickly pushed me off to the older gentleman who tried to tell me that the gold is so soft that that’s what happens when you try to solder it. Then he asked me why I had the safety chain on the bracelet since a lobster claw was so sturdy. WHY WOULD THAT MATTER? It’s there to do its job – be the safety.
Then when I pointed out that the «hole» wasn’t even connected, he agreed and said he’d send it back. I asked when it’d be back because my mother is leaving in a few days. He said next week. I said no, I can’t do that. So then he said he won’t charge me, and that he would CUT THE BRACELET where the soldering was done so that he could «give it back to me the way I brought it in.» I am APPALLED! Absolutely not. When I said that I didn’t want him to break it any more, that he leave it be so that my mother could take it somewhere else, he got frustrated and get this, THREW the bracelet at me. THREW IT! Who does that?
I have never been so disrespected.
I will never go to this store again.

I used to take my engagement/​wedding rings in to be cleaned here and the jewelers here were accomodating and would clean my rings with no problem. They would check and make sure the pave set diamonds didn’t get loose and my prongs were tight. But the straw that broke the camels back was when my husband took my rings in to be cleaned and the older man told him that he can’t clean the ring anymore because all the diamons were going to fall out in their Sonic cleaning. B**sh*t!!! I’m sorry but diamonds are not going to fall off my $ 20,000 rings. I won’t be coming here anymore.
On another note, I came here to have 4 links taken off my watch and I was told that it would take 15 mins. 45 mins late my watch still wasn’t ready. Once again, the older gentleman was taking care of my watch and it shouldn’t take an hour to remove 4 links on a watch.
This place has awful customer service!!!

I needed the battery replaced for my Tag Heuer watch. I had it done at Ross Simons in the past and they would have to send it out for weeks at a time. The Goldsmith was recommended to me and I was very happy to hear they could both replace the battery and perform a water test for a very reasonable price and could do it while I waited. They were very friendly and helpful and they mentioned they perform full watch repair services and can also custom make jewelry. I would definitely use them again.
