I have gone to this laundromat many times for both drop off and self serve in the past I have been very happy and found the attendant to be friendly and nice and didnt find the price to be so outrageous. Today was a different experience. The woman who is usually there was not there and the man that was there I found to be really rude. After dealing with him for a few minutes I asked for my clothes back and I was going to take it to another place but he wouldn’t give it back. I finally agreed to a price much higher then what the woman usually charges me and I told him that. He told me to come back at 2. When I got there at 2 on the dot nobody was there. I definitely will be going to another place in the future even if this is the closest one to my house.

After today, my family and I are looking will be looking for another place to do laundry. First thing that got my attention was the way the attendant kept staring at my mother and I while we loaded our things into the washers. It’s not a look that can be mistaken especially when you’ve grown up being discriminated based on race. It was like she kept expecting us to do something illegal or wrong. While other customers entered the business(who were Caucasian), she was polite and nice to them. Second problem was when we tried to dry our clothes. I automatically noticed half the dryers had their timers frozen, while only 2 actually had out of order signs. Then I had to put the exact same load, into four different dryers 4 times after each time I put in money, the machine wouldn’t start. On top of that, the coin return button doesn’t even work! So I end up losing money 4 times. When I inform the attendant, she says she can’t do anything and I have to put my name, telephone number, and the amount of money I lost on a slip of paper and leave it in the mailbox. Mind you, you would expect that they have some kind of slip or form you can fill out, but nope it’s a rag tag scrap piece of paper. Even the laundromats back when I was in college did better than this. How can anyone do business with half their machines not working properly, I do not understand. But then again their machines eat all your money and you can’t even get a refund right away so maybe that’s how they make their money.

You know you’ve done it. Like any good Unilocaler, fire up the Unilocal app and read reviews before visiting a local business to either reaffirm your decision to go, change your mind upon negative review after negative review or at the very least go in with appropriate expectations. In my case, I decided to take the plunge but at least had some idea what I was getting into. I had several comforters and large items my machine at home couldn’t easily accommodate so I came to the nearby laundromat. Machines are old, don’t clean particularly well and are outrageously expensive-$ 2.50 to wash(standard old-school top loader) or $ 5 for jumbo size front-loader and FOUR minutes for every quarter! The whole place feels dilapidated and had nowhere to sit and was extremely unpleasant. For one the attendant on duty was engaged in a very loud and abrasive personal phone call that everyone had no choice but to listen to. This place in my opinion is a disservice to other well-run, independent businesses who provide good customer service and value to clients. Next time I will venture over to Cambridge/Somerville area for sure.

Attendant has been very helpful to me. Unfortunately I have had a couple of experiences with the owner that he would not refund my money when clearly the dryer I was using was cold and my clothes were not dry and had to move my stuff to another dryer and somehow it was dried. I was told that it had to be in hot for it to get dry. False. Owner argues with you. Laundro-mat is very convenient for me and the only relatively clean place. Hot in the summer no a/c and freeze to death in the winter and even if you complain that it’s too cold the owner won’t turn up the heat! I’m really not one to complain but this man should not own when he won“t treat the customers with respect.

I’ve tried more than a few times to give this place chances. I’ve finally had my fill. Chance one: machine ran for 5 minutes, no water was coming into it. The glass door allows for this view. My clothes never got cleaned and the owner refused to refund my money. Didn’t return for months. Chance two, my girlfriend did laundry there. Needed to use the restroom urgently. Management said they didn’t have a bathroom. Management’s white trash friend arrives and they sit and loudly verbally bash everyone they know… speaking about ask of their relatives who are in jail or some other trouble. Friend asks to use restroom right in front of my girlfriend. Management says yes of course! Tonight, against my better judgement, I decided to return simply because it’s always empty and therefore quiet. I put clothes in to wash, got a burrito, and began eating dinner at a countertop. There was one other patron present. Owner walks in and demands that I eat elsewhere, staying that this isn’t a restaurant. Never tells me she’s the owner. I had to ask who she was as she’s demanding that I leave. I tell her that I’m not leaving my laundry and that it’s absolutely ridiculous that I can’t eat a burrito while my clothes wash. I kindly put my dinner away and am currently awaiting my clothes to be done. I will extract them wet, take them elsewhere to dry them… and before I leave, I will eat my burrito in her face with a smile. Do NOT support this married couple of rude, ignorant, greedy owners. They deserve nothing.

After five visits to this place over a number of months, I’m convinced that residents of Newtonville deserve better. I’d give it zero stars if I could. The washers are expensive and don’t get clothes very clean. No number of quarters you pump into their dryers will get your clothes completely dry, either. I tried. At 4 minutes a quarter — half the duration of another place in Waltham I am now going to — it’s obviously a big source of revenue for whoever owns this coin laundry. Apathy and/or hostility towards customers exists in droves here. The place is old, poorly maintained and somewhat dirty. Signs are all over with disclaimers about their not being responsible for your safety — or the damage their equipment might inflict on your clothes. The attendant holds court with her friends who come to visit or gabs on her cell phone otherwise. Need to break a $ 20 bill? Forget it — she won’t do it. Go find change down the street. As long as you wear ear protection, you can arrive when they first open in the morning. The place will be unlocked but you’ll be subjected to the blare of security alarms if the attendant isn’t around. The good news is that they’ll stop before you become deaf — usually 20 or 30 minutes later. The only saving grace for this place is that it’s convenient — and there are a couple of good coffee shops down the street that you can hang out in — especially needed if the weather is hot. BTW — no A/C. Not surprising. If you want to get your clothes clean and dry — at any price — there are much better places to go in Waltham. A slightly longer drive. but well worth it.

I hate this place sooo much… but it’s just so close to my apartment. I will usually drive into Waltham to do my laundry, as I’d rather do that than come here. Every once in a while I forget myself and come back here, and I’m quickly reminded why I despise it so. It is incredibly expensive(25 cents for 4 minutes of drying time? Really??), the washers are annoyingly tiny, and the people on staff aren’t particularly pleasant. It pretty much sucks in every possible way.

HOT. No AC. Fans are all on one side(where attendant does her wash and fold service – I was going to put my stuff in the dryer on that side and she asked me to use the dryers on the other side which I realized had no fans). Many machines are out of order. Machines are expensive in my opinion. Machines that aren’t out of order don’t work well(quarters don’t always fall in all the way and take half hour more than most other laundry mats). Was hoping for wi-fi(a luxury I know but not uncommon) but definitely no wi fi here. Will be looking for new laundry mat even if it means having to drive there. This place is not worth the convenience.

Overall bad experience. During power outage dropped some laundry that I really needed for same day wash and fold. They charged us $ 10 extra to have one item pulled out of the load that could not go in the dryer. That seemed unreasonable, but the big problem was that they don’t staff the laundry during they hours they post. Door says wash and fold open until 4 pm. I came at 2:45 and no one was there. I left a message on the phone number saying I needed my laundry that day and when would someone be there so I could pick it up. The owner/manager called me back saying the staff leave at 3 despite what is posted. After a few really unpleasant calls where I was told repeatedly I should have come in earlier — go figure — I gave up. I then got a call from a pissed off person at 6:30 saying she would be there for 5 minutes and I could come now. I was not available in that window of 5 minutes so went in the following day at 9:30. Guess what? No one was there although hours on door says they are open at 8:30 for wash and fold. I definitely wouldn’t go back and don’t recommend that others use this service.

Convenient, but costly and the triple load washers are very inconsistent in washing ability. One might use plenty of water and wash clothes great. The other, with the same size load, may use almost no water and leave suds all over my clothes.

The washer didn’t spin dry my clothes, so the clothes were soaked. Then the dryer didn’t spin at all. The change machine ate my money and then said«out of order». They wouldn’t give me my money back. Then the staff accused me of breaking the dryer. The woman working said«the guy just fixed it yesterday, so this is your fault». She called her boss, who said the same thing and didn’t even acknowledge the broken washing machine. I couldn’t believe how rude the staff were. Save your time and just go anywhere else.

Use the change machine with caution! The machine ate my ten dollar bill, and I had to put up a fight to get them to return my money. This included multiple phone calls and another trip to the laundromat at a very specific time. I am usually easy to please, but this experience left a bad taste in my mouth.

This is a relatively clean, convenient laundromat in the middle of Newtonville. I’ve been going here on and off for seven or eight years and have always found it a bit above the average clothes-washing emporium. A pickup and delivery service is offered, and that’s good for extra busy people or those who don’t want to deal with the crowds in here on the weekends. Nearby are a number of good small restaurants and coffee shops, so patrons won’t and don’t starve or get bored while the clothes go round and round and eventually get clean. Prices are a bit higher than across town in Waltham and parking is most convenient in the small lot behind the building — street parking is also good but not easy to find. There’s nothing here to really recommend an adverse review.
