World of Falafel

My wife and I were in the mood for some falafel, and with the King of Falafel closed we decided to check out World of Falafel. We decided to split the falafel platter. It was a huge meal and came jam packed with a stack of pita, hummus, baba ganoush, tons of vegetables and there were many more salads to choose from. There was also a self serve pickle bar with olives, peppers and the like. I enjoyed the salads alot. I thought the falafel was a bit on the dry side, but it did have good flavor. It’s no where near the best falafel I’ve ever had, but for Newtown PA in a pinch, it’ll do. Three stars.

Everything is home made from scratch. They use only the freshest ingredients. Excellent.

I came here with a groupon so it was my first time giving it a try. The menu was a little hard to understand but the staff was very kind and knowledgable and helped us out. We tried 2 different platter, a side of eggplant and falafel balls. Everything was delicious and had a great, unique taste. They served generous portions which was a plus. The restaurant has a nice cozy vibe with a fireplace. I will definitely be back. The only suggestion I would give is to call ahead & make sure they’re open. Initially I came here on a Friday @ 5:45pm and Saturday at 1pm & they were closed both times. So I went on a Wednesday evening & was pleased to see they were open.

My wife and I ordered take-​out at World of Falafel for the second time in two weeks. By way of background, I had met my wife a generation ago in Jerusalem, where she was born and raised in the Nachla’ot neighborhood near Rehov Bezalel, home to arguably the best falafel in the city. So it was with some trepidation that we tried the food at World of Falafel, afraid that it might not measure up, but I am pleased to report that, all things considered, we both really enjoyed it. The pita was stuffed with freshly made falafel, hummus, Israeli salad, pickles, olives and tahina; very tasty and not unreasonably priced. We will be back and hope to see you there.
Not late on Fridays or anytime on Saturdays, though. The restaurant is kosher and closed for Shabbat.

Very good! Food was very fresh and was delicious. I got the veggie falafel and my husband got the spicy #2. He enjoyed it as much as I did. We got two orders of fries which were cooked perfectly. A great lunch spot! We will definitely be back!

Good food, painfully slow service. This was my second visit. The falafel pitas and plates are good. The ingredients are fresh. BUT both times it has taken 20 minutes to get my order, even though there was only one customer (chatty couples) ahead of me. It is nice to have friendly service, sure, but this is/​was excessive. Also, there is a condiment bar. It should be shut down as a health hazard. Last night a woman was dragging her coat sleeves across the food. It is rather disgusting.

Not bad, I’d return. I got a small platter with falafel and eggplant and other veggies. I didn’t care for the tahini sauce at all. Maybe I don’t like anyone’s tahini sauce. I’ve never had it before this.
The eggplant was great. Next time I will get more of it and get the hummus.
The restaurant interior seems nice and cozy and clean. I was only there for s second to pick up the online order which was ready when I got there. Super easy

Veggies & Kosher and local! Watch out closed on Shabbat. All fresh Israeli street food worth a trip.

The falafel is delicious with just the right mix of spices.
The Israeli salad was very good too. Have the French fries. You won’t be disappointed.

I was craving falafel today and decided to revisit World of Falafel… I was very happy and impressed that they took my feedback into consideration and made a lot of great changes… The falafel balls are a little bigger, I got more in my falafel platter which was delicious… The hummus was a lil spicy but good, and I like the smoky flavor in the baba ghanoush AND you warmed up the pita bread which is a very good change. The pita pillow they serve is very good warmed up and different than other places that serve the plain flat pita. I will definitely revisit and bring my friends.

We have been there a few times. Falafel is delicious. I personally like the pita but can agree it could be warmer. Kids loved the pita chips with humus.

I love the falafels, and the fried pita bread is like candy.

I have been to this place a bunch of times since it opened several months ago. The food is cooked to order this means it is super fresh. The falafel is great, but the sauces (I prefer some of each) and the assortment of accompaniments makes it great. I was in Israel a year ago and this takes me right back to the old city and the feeling you get when you have a great memory.
My whole family is hooked on this stuff. I highly suggest not missing the eggplant as a side and don’t forget the pickle bar.

I was really excited to find World of Falafel. It’s a small place on State street. The interior is pretty modern looking. The only thing is… they do align with the exiled House Stark, Lords of the North (Game of Thrones reference for anyone who has better things to do than binge watch HBO). Loyalties aside, World of Falafel is set up so you order at the counter, pay, then they call you. The falafel is made to order (which I have found to be a love/​hate because sometimes it takes a while to get an order out). They carry all the normal sides you want on falafel like tahini, a wide variety of vegetables, and olives. The falafel is good but not great, same with the service. One thing that bothers me is the awkward size of the glass you order behind. It’s kinda tall so its hard to reach over when they hand your order over. All in all, not a bad place, so I would keep going back.

It is a small world when it comes to falafel in Newtown. Choices are limited to the part time place in the Newtown Farmers’ Market, and this new house on State Street in Newtown Borough.
WoF is new and it appears they are still on their shakedown cruise. While the signature offering is quite good, the overall gestalt is one of disorganization and lack of attention to detail.
The menu on the wall over the register/​order area is limited to a few dishes, with the only real variety coming from the sides offered along with a falafel or eggplant pita or platter. My styro plate was full of Israeli Salad, Hummus and BabaG, and the sandwich stuffed with Cukes, Tachini Sauce, and more Hummus. Everything was fresh, but despite being put through a toaster belt, the pita remained room temp and lacked the complementary texture and taste of one heated first on the grill. Therein lies part of the problem, in that there is no grill back there for that purpose.
The staff is young and earnest, but seem to lack restaurant experience. Management didn’t notice that the trash receptacles were full and needed attention.
World of Falafel has an opportunity to be a successful Middle Eastern Café if a few small steps are taken to bring up quality control. Too, good coffee options would add to the ambiance and reason for people to come in to this attractive little shop and sample the wares.

I really wanted to like this new restaurant in Newtown. The falafel is ok, the pita is gummy and chewy– they should warm it up! They spooned the hummus out of a Sabra container (even though the young woman that took my order told me it was homemade), so if you like Sabra, you’ll like the hummus :)
The service is very poor– they seem disorganized and incompetent. There were 4 people behind the counter but only one of them was taking care of customers.
Hopefully they’ll get their act together, but I won’t be returning any time soon– just not good enough. Too bad!

Food is good but staff and some patrons who know the owner ruins the atmosphere. Friends of the owner were screaming making it unpleasant. Staff knew what they were doing… This place is just fair

First time to the restaurant and the food was on point. I had the falafel sandwich and asked the chef to make it as he would eat it. I’ve eaten at several Middle Eastern style restaurants in and around Philadelphia and this did not disappoint. The price was spot on as well. Great place for lunch. I will definitely be back.
