The Luffa Farm

Never knew luffa grew on a vine! Took a very in-​depth (and free) tour of the greenhouse and then spent some time in the small gift shop. Will never look at a luffa the same way again.

It’s just a small farm with luffas… what’s with all the 5 star reviews? But yeah, I’ll give it to them. They’re very nice people running a quaint little operation out of their home and they’ll tell you anything you need to know about the luffas!
The little shop is nice and it’s fun to pick up some gifts for people from this place instead of say Bath & Body Works or Lush etc. from a big commercial mall.
Plus how often can you tell people you’ve been to a luffa farm?

Was so curious about this place while driving through Nipomo. Someone is around and will drop what they’re doing to give you the tour of the farm, show you the plants in their different stages, and teach you about luffas. I LOVE the facial luffa — it’s so soft, and their scented soaps with pieces of luffa in it are really cool. They also have a website you can order their products on so if you’re like me and need a new facial luffa because you lost it and your face doesn’t really feel smooth and clean without it, you can go to their website and order a few more :)

Stopped in yesterday for the first time. I live right down the road and have passed this place a 1000 times. Supper cool and entertaining. Good for the kids. Loved it was veey happy and will be coming buy in the future

Lovely little farm on the Nipomo Mesa. The guide was very friendly and informative. Their store was stocked with great products for those of us with skin sensitivities. Luffas (all sizes), soaps, bath crystals, lotions and gift sets.

On a recent trip to San Luis Obispo, we noticed an ad in one of the tourist magazines for the Luffa Farm. We also saw a few signs as we drive around town. So, we decided to check it out.
Don’t get afraid of the sorta creepy drive way up to the farm.
The farm is very small but informative. Our guide did a great job in showing us around and teaching us about luffas. Not only was there luffa plants, but also herbs to see and smell. I loved the chocolate mint — it smelled so good!
At the end of the tour, there is a cute little shop with organic soaps, luffas, and more. It definitely was one of the highlights of our SLO vacation!

I absolutely love this place! I have been using the glycerine face soap for 2 years and refuse to go a day without it! It’s the best! I brought my boyfriend this last time I was in town and now he is hooked on the luffas and let soap! Thank you Joseph for your friendly service! I can’t wait to go back!

I can’t believe this place was so close to SLO and I didn’t even know it was here. This is a way cool farm. They have some of the most unique cool items you can buy. And talk about Luffa madness! They have some crazy knowledge.

What a charming, entertaining and educational place this is! MJ our tour guide along with Max (the dog) took us on a tour of the greenhouses and taught us all about Luffas! Who would have guessed there was so much to know about an exfoliating sponge! I highly recommend this little get away and the tour is free… but you have to check out the little gift shop. We bought soaps, lotions and of course Luffas and are very happy with all our purchases. I will definitely be back when I run out of stuff.

Had a fantastic time at the Luffa Farm! We were visiting family in Santa Maria and stopped to check it out on the way up to SLO. Had a great tour of the Luffas (most genetically related to a cucumber!) and bought some great soaps and of course a luffa! Recommend for families, couples and just about anyone looking for a unique experience.

This little farm is so much fun to visit, my friends and I always make sure to stop by every summer when we go on our «Ag Adventure» (yes, we really call it that). The farm is full of quirky signs, lawn ornaments (including household fixtures with flowers planted in them, like a metal bed frame being used as a flower bed), and potted plants and herbs. When you arrive, someone comes out to greet you and tells you all about the fascinating luffa plant, a kind of zucchini that is apparently very difficult to grow, but well worth the effort because it can be eaten fresh, or can be allowed to dry and then used as a luffa sponge. The people who work at the farm are always so sweet and encourage questions. They will also give you a tour of their extremely hot luffa greenhouses and show you the plants growing on the vines.
But no trip to the Luffa Farm would be complete without a stop by their gift shop, a tiny bungalow stocked with some of the most amazing skin care products you’ll ever come across. There is, of course, every size and shape of luffa imaginable, but there are also amazing hand-​made glycerin soaps and lotions, herb sachets, and gift baskets. You can basically get all the females in your life really nice gifts for their upcoming birthdays, all in one stop. It’s not unusual for us to drop $ 30+ per visit on luffas, lotions, and soaps.
BTW, the Luffa Farm’s products are seriously wonderful — I use their luffa sponges in the shower (can be used on the body or face) and in the kitchen (they make great natural kitchen sponges, and don’t stink like those green and yellow scrubbers), and each one typically lasts 6 – 8 months. Also, they make an amazing face soap that has tea tree oil and eucalyptus in it, and lotions that smell so good you want to eat them (my favorites are the coconut and cucumber scents). My friend also purchased their dog/​pet soap bar and said it was great. Even if you’re not able to stop by the farm in person, I’d highly recommend checking out their online store!
PS — I just read over this review and realized that it sounds like a paid advertisement or something — but I swear, it’s just that I love this place! And I think it’s important to support these kinds of «mom and pop» operations.

I’ve made it a point to visit the Luffa Farm every time we visit California central coast. they always have something new. Deanne the owner is a charming interesting lady. Her staff helpful and informative. It’s just a nice time. I’ve given a few luffa’s to friends and everyone loves them. My sister says since she started using the luffa farm luffa’s people have been complimenting her skin. I’ve become very fond of the spearmint fragrance lotion or soaps. Very invigorating.

We found this place in the visitor’s guide in the hotel we were staying in. I thought it would be an interesting trip to take since I thought luffas were from the sea — but they’re not. Go to the farm and find out for yourself how they are grown. It’s an amazing (slogan is «Be Amazed» and I was!) story told from the nicest woman. The kids will love the garden, and you’ll love that it’s free. By the way, what I’ve learned and seen about luffas from stores like Walmart and BB&B is frightening — lots of chemicals added on.
