The first wedensday i saw her
there smiling at me with here blue eyes
and curly hair i couldn’t wait till next week
to make the stop see her at the
quick check paper drop.
Every wedensday we’d count the papers
we’d have a laugh at the people in their suits
no one seemed to notice how she was different
but i did and i knew. Another wedensday came and it
seemed it was right so i wrote her a note that i
hoped she would like dear
Kiah would you like to go with me to the boardwalk
what fun it will be
we’ll eat cotton candy and we’ll get french
fries with vinegar and get a
plate of funnel cake then we’ll go on the
zipper look out on the ocean
and puke it all up all the people will scream
we can have a laugh what do
you say? that’s what it said in the note.
Another week went by
and she never called another week came and
she wished she had she just
broke up with her fiancé and things were kinda crazy
with her i said i understood, another week went by
and she never called but i thought
about the way she looked at me and said to myself maybe.
i pulled into the quick check at 6am to see the sun coming up
when i walked in Kiah wasn’t there. The manager said
she quit she isn’t here do you want me to
help you count the papers?.

Quick chek has my favorite subs in the neighborhood. And for $ 2.99 a 6″, you can’t really do much better. They have never messed up an order of mine and honestly, it would be pretty difficult to screw up since all orders are done on their touch screen ordering systems.
Line can be slow sometimes but overall it’s a good spot!

Let me say right off the bat that I worked for this store on the overnight shift from September, 2001 to March, 2005 so I know very well how this place is run.
For starters, the staff is very overworked and extremely underpaid. The company makes a great deal of money and the staff gets peanuts in return. Despite that, I always made it a point to do right by the customers and built a very good repoir with my regulars. The Store Leader at the time, who now manages the other North Bergen store was a complete tyrant and a miserable human being who regularly belittled his staff and yelled at them on the floor in front of customers which plenty of them found to be highly unprofessional.
There are three things that sell in that store, cigarettes, coffee and lottery tickets. Other than that, it’s really not worth a damn for anything else. Not to mention that there are other locations in the surrounding area, other than the two North Bergen stores I mentioned, that are cleaner, newer and run far better in Fairview and West New York.
My advice, steer clear unless you need caffeine or a smoke.

Quick Chek is your run of the mill convenience store, having the jacked up prices on grocery items, coolers full of drinks, coffee, and a sandwich/​deli counter. On a whole the selection and prices are par for the course, but compliments go to the coffee which is almost always hot and fresh. The sandwiches are also pretty good when made correctly.
The worst thing about this store is the staff. Quite often, there will be one cashier with a line wrapped halfway around the store while they are putzing with someone and lottery tickets. Never does another person come to ring this ever growing line, and it just gets frustrating. Also the deli/​sandwich staff is questionable at best. There are automated touch screen ordering stations, and you would think things could be gotten correctly, well frequently things like onions, lettuce, ketchup can be left off, even if you did order them, and also may some higher power help you if you ever order more than one of an item. I usually order 2 breakfast sandwiches, and when I pick up my order, there’s 1 waiting, and when I ask where’s the other one, I get dirty looks and they make it then. I’ve also mentioned these complaints to Quick Chek corporate, and well, they still happen, and it looks like something you’re bound to deal with if you go to this store.
