Good pizza! The cheesy bread sticks are awesome! Always great service! My son likes getting to play uno while we wait on pizza!

There was mold in my cheese. They didn’t really seem to care. The place was freezing cold, and the pizza was just okay. I won’t be back.

Okay food, terrible service. I took my family of three on a Wednesday night. Things went great, at first. We were meet with a warm welcome and seated immediately. We ordered drinks and appetizers. From there it went down hill. I ordered water, my wife and son ordered lemonade. We got three waters. We told the waitress, she apologized and said she would be right back. Twenty five minutes later our pizza came but not our appetizer, and the drinks still had not been corrected. When the appetizer was brought out we reminded the waitress of the incorrect drinks again. She brought my wife a lemonade, but not my son, I never got one refill. When the bill came I had been charged for a child lemonade that my son never got. It wasn’t even worth bringing up, I just wanted to pay and leave. Our waitress was kind, but not effective. The staff dress in plain street clothes and are not discernible from guests. Many waitresses walked past our table but never offered refills. The whole deal took just over an hour. The décor is odd in that it is a log cabin in the woods kinda thing. Doesn’t really match up with pizza. The thing is the food was good. I would eat the food again, but I would carry out.

This place has went terribly down hill since the last time we went about a year ago. She said it’s under new management. Hardly any of the games worked and the food was okay at best. The best thing about the entire visit is that she didn’t charge us for drinks because it was soooo slow.

We have consistently been visiting Cool River weekly for the past six months and the quality of the service and food continues to decline. The service is becoming hit or miss, depending on the server you get. Some are great; others, not so much. On one recent visit we were seated and then completely forgotten. The pizza is consistently good(a plus!), but the salads(which have always been good) continue to lose both their taste and size. You are effectively paying $ 8.00 for a side salad! The place is convenient and good for kids but what drew us here initially is losing its luster. Too bad… thank god the $ 2.00 beers can numb our senses!!!

Way overpriced. Not good. Crust was no better than Little Caesars. Service was slow. We won’t be back.

We usually do take out and the lady that answered the call was very friendly and suggested the Sunday special which we ordered. The order was ready exactly on time and $ 27 for three pies was a good deal. The family enjoyed the pizza and I enjoyed that it was ready when I arrived an a good price from friendly staff.

New owner refuses to honor coupon book coupons. They don’t tell you on the phone and simply point to a taped up paper on the door, jeez. Pizza itself is best described as unremarkable — basically the the standard stuff you I ate growing up from some cheap local place. In the end, why would I go to someplace call river pizza anyways… doesn’t quite paint an appetizing picture. Well the floors and walls did look a little silty…

I walked in the first thing I noticed is the dirt. Walls were dirty, floors were dirty. No wonder they have to give away their beer for .50 Cents. So we order the special, Large pizza, we get pepperoni and bacon. So thinly topped, the maybe two pep on a slice. The pizza was okay, but nothing to write home about. I tell you what this place could be really good if they clean their walls, maybe a coat of paint, replace their rock hard benches with real seats and booths, and give their pizza decent quantity of toppings. They might not have to sell .50 cent beers and 7 dollar pizza.

$.50 beer, but the thrills stop there. Really mundane Point of Sale system that made paying a 40 minute ordeal for our group of 10. The campfire pizza was great, everything else was OK. Not large-group friendly.

We tried cool river pizza when it first opened and I thought it was pretty tasty, none the less pricy too. We got a coupon in the mail and figured we would try it again, knowing still that it was over priced. Ordered the Medium BBQ chicken and it looked like a small and the crust was like cardboard, no flavor and no taste to it. Toppings were good and it looked good but the overall quality along with price reaffirmed I don’t plan on visiting this restaurant again…

I’d really like to give Cool River a 2.5 star review. It’s a bummer to have this place keep failing expectations but the best part of our service recently was the cheap beer and service. Otherwise, we ordered the chicken, bacon, onion, and white sauce pizza and my poor husband could hardly eat it due to how salty it was. I noticed the over-seasoning but was still able to finish my meal at least. The redeeming quality that kept this review 3 star was found in our server, Luke. Very attentive, humorous, and charismatic! But the food was meh. One of the guys we were with ordered the chicken chips… which you would envision as maybe some sort of chip with chicken on it, or a chicken patty flatten and crisped? Nope. Just regular olé cheesy bread sticks with chicken bits on top… very strange. We might come back to enjoy the cheap beers and maybe some apps but as far as the pizza goes, Cool River has frozen over!

Updated: I did get a call and apology. My Voice Mail cut them off, so I’m not sure what all they had to say or who called me, but I do appreciate the follow up. :) They really do have great pizza, and hopefully there’s a lesson learned here. For those who complain about the service… I never really got the impression it was a «full service» have someone wait on you kind of place. Just FYI. When ever I’ve eaten in, I’ve always gotten my own box and drinks and stuff. The Waitress just brings out the pizza. BUT I haven’t eaten inside since the apparent change in management. Original 1star Review: Let me start by saying, I love Cool River Pizza. Its delicious. Today was my first negative experience, but it was bad enough that it warrants this review. Apparently they ran out of Cheese. I understand things happen. I placed my order around 6:00 for a 6:50 pick up. Name, phone number, and email provided. At 6:55 I arrived and the poor kid behind the counter was flustered. After about 15 standing at the counter he finally told me, that they were out of cheese and it didn’t look like my order had been made. In the hour since I ordered, someone could have called me. At that same time a man was standing behind me who had placed his order in the restaurant and was there with a whole group for dine in. Their pizzas wouldn’t be made either, and no one had told them. As it turns out, there was a restaurant full of people who had no idea their pizzas would not be made. What made me decide to write this review is the fact that there was NOMANAGERONSITE. No one was working who was in any position to make decisions. The young man and young woman behind the counter kept talking about someone named Jeff, but neither of them knew how to get a hold of him. There was a staff ranging in age from about 16 – 20 in my best estimate, and as said, no one was in charge. No one had the authority to offer discounts to customers. Fortunately, I had not paid with my credit card. Otherwise this would have been even larger of an issue for me. In a technological age(and at a location with iPad POS, clearly trying to look technologically advanced) the lack of a simple phone call or email to let me know my order would not be ready is unacceptable. Additionally, not once did anyone apologize. It was simply stated«your pizza wasn’t made and we have no more cheese. Bye» I will be happy to update this review if a member of management would like to contact me to discuss these events and offer their apologies, since no member of management was present at the time to handle the situation.

Went with my family the other night for my first time. We ordered a few pizzas(margerhita and one with sausage and extra cheese) and some cheesy bread. Me and my girlfriend also decided to split a salad. We decided to do without the olives or the mushrooms on the salad, but they went ahead and put them on anyways, and must’ve expected us to eat with our hands because we weren’t given any silverware. I decided not to say anything about the salad because I knew our pizza would be out in a few minutes anyways, which it was. After I went and retrieved some silverware, we finally enjoyed our salad. Nothing special, but not bad. The cheesy bread was loaded with cheese, I thought it was pretty good but my girlfriend disagreed. Their garlic butter for dipping was awesome. As for the pizzas, the margherita was incredibly bland. With a pizza like that, you need to really season it to bring out the fresh flavors of the tomato, olive oil, and basil. I saw they added some pepper, but where was the salt? The other pizza was amazing. I love a lot of cheese on my pizza, and this one was loaded! The service overall wasn’t good, although I did get a free beer(which was mistakenly brought to our table). The food was decent, some hit and some miss. I’ll give them 3 stars and try again someday.

Although I got 30% off my entrée of boneless Cajun wings, I definitely paid too much. The 8 pieces looked like dough of bread. The Cajun had absolutely no kick. The Cajun on the side was even worse. On the positive, it was meaty. I think I will hold off from buying any wings for a while. $ 1 Wendy’s nuggets or McDonald’s nuggets taste better. The place is bigger than it looks at the register. They have board games there.

It’s always disappointing to write an update that is fewer stars than the original. But sometimes it happens and this is such an occasion. We ordered our usual for take out and were so bummed to get home and discover our usual was very unusual. I called the restaurant and found out they were under new management and that the previous owners took their secret dough recipe with them. The new dough tastes like frozen dough and as soon as the topping were eaten, I threw away the rest. Always a bad sign. I might try this place in a few months to see if they get their new recipe figured out but in the meantime, I’m going to find a new pizza joint and a new usual.

Edit: Updated to add that this place seems to have gone downhill with management changes. Cool River has had ups and downs since it opened but our last few experiences here have been nothing short of dismal. Through all the past changes service has ranged from very poor to excellent but the food had remained excellent, which is why we kept coming. We’d have a bad experience but the pizza was still excellent so we would return again and again. Unfortunately, now it seems that the food has gone down in quality. Poor service… the worst being the visit where there was literally ONE employee working in the restaurant on a Sunday. He was answering the phone, taking orders, cooking, serving, etc. Another time I placed a carry-out order but was told they didn’t have wheat crust that day because a manager had quit and taken the wheat crust recipe with him. Wow. Just wow. End of edit. After having a couple of less-than-memorable experiences here we decided to give the place another try. Apparently it is under new management and there has been huge improvement in the food and new menu items added. We enjoy the great service and new menu items. We especially love the veggie chips, and I have picked them up for a snack several times to take home. The garlic chips and other appetizers are really great too. We also love the honey wheat crust, and my favorite pizza is Ragin Rapids. My kids love the Kid’s Kayak and the Cool River Weeds. We tried the new sandwiches, too, and we really liked them. Unique! My only suggestion would be that a dipping sauce be served on the side. I ordered a veggie sandwich and then requested a side of ranch, and it was perfect. In fact, the only menu item we have been disappointed in was the fries. They were just plain, bland and didn’t even taste like they were salted. They looked and tasted like frozen Ore Ida, nothing special at all. I would like to see Cool River do something special with their fries, maybe a unique seasoning, or light batter or even just serve dipping sauces. We have been recommending Cool River I invited a family who lives nearby to join us there and my friend said, «I tried it once and we didn’t like it» but I convinced her to give it another try, eveything had changed for the better. This is a fun place to take kids, and I pick up carryout pizzas often on the way home from work. The appetizers are all really good for snacks, and sometimes I just pick up veggie chips, garlic chips and breadsticks when I have friends over. The service has really improved as well. Our last visit was outstanding.

Mixed reviews on this place does not surprise me, half of my family loves their pizza and half does not care for it. My wife who is a NY pizza snob, does not care for their pies at all. My kids on the other hand love the pizza and the place itself. I am on the fence, had better… had worse. But I do like the place. Super friendly staff, laid back atmosphere and really good prices… a win in my book. Bottom line… not the pizza of the Gods, but a really nice place to bring the family.

Tried this for the first time the other day and it was delicious. We had a coupon so we ordered a pizza to go. The waitress was really patient and friendly as this was our first time. You can order as many toppings as you want all for the same price, we asked if we could do half and half and she said ya no problem. As we waited for our pizza we decided to play a couple of their board games they have readily available. It was a lot of fun and before you knew our pizza was ready. It smelled so good and it was piping hot, so I could not help myself and grabbed a piece, it was so tasty. Bazbeaux is still my favorite, but this was a close second, also hear the apps our also very good.

Pizza is pretty good but nothing you would remember in a few days. What’s special about this place are the toys, games, and environment that makes it a perfect place to bring your kids, eat some good food, and have them run around like animals and have someone else clean up the mess. Great place for families with kids.
