Above Board Paddle Company is located in beautiful Nokomis, Florida, which is just south of Sarasota, FL, and north of Venice, FL. We offer stand up paddle board lessons (SUP) and tours from Venice to Sarasota, with our certified paddle board instructor. We also coordinate board and kayak rentals.

History

Established in 2013.

There is really no sport quite like stand up paddle boarding (SUP). Above Board Paddle Company’s owner’s, Tony and Robin Nakonetschny fell in love with paddle boarding shortly after they moved to sunny Florida from Pennsylvania in June 2011. It was truly love at first paddle, and we have been paddling ever since. It is an activity that almost anyone can do, regardless of their fitness level and ability. We have taught 75 year olds, down to 7 year olds. The beauty of SUP is that it provides an amazing workout, using almost every muscle in your body. It is low impact, so those with joint pain and fear of injury can paddle. For those who like to multi task, it is really a cardiovascular workout, and strength training session all in one! For many, the mental benefits far outweigh anything else. It is hard to describe the calm that washes over you as you get on the water and into a paddling rhythm.
