Paul Davis Restoration & Remodeling

I would most definitely recommend this company. When a problem with flooding on the lower level of our house arouse, I was directed to contact this company. They came on time, removed the sheetrock of the walls and the hardwood that was flooded. Afterwards they left fans and dehumidifiers for a couple days to make sure everything was dried. The visiting contractor was friendly and professional to my family and me. Setting up appointments was easy and they worked with my schedule. They did an excellent job and the prices were fair compared to the other companies we researched. Our insurance adjuster was also satisfied when everything was completed.

I had Paul Davis Restoration replace my roof after hail damage. The replacement was through my insurance company. I paid an upgrade fee to get the better Architectural shingles installed.
My roof leaked immediately after the next rain. I called them back out to fix the problem. They came out 2 times to fix the problem and finally told me that the problem is the flashing and they could not do any thing. I expected that when my roof was replaced under insurance due to hail damage, that any problems would be resolved. They informed me that I needed to replace my windows. My roof did not leak before they came replaced it, it just had hail damage. Now my roof leaks where it meets the wall every time we have heavy rain.
I recently noticed stains on my ceiling in numerous spots no where near the original leaks when we have light rain. I called Paul Davis Restoration to try to get them to come look at it. They would not call me back. I called them a second time and they informed me that because it was not an Insurance job, they could not help me. I asked that they at least come and tell me why their installation was leaking. I was informed that because it was outside their 1 year warranty, they would not send someone out. I spoke with my insurance agent, and she recommended that I find out the manufacturer of the shingles and get them to look at it. So I called Paul Davis Restoration again and asked about the manufacturer of the shingles installed on my roof. They told me at this point that my file was in the archives and they would have someone call me back. After not hearing from them, once again, I called again. I asked to speak with a Manager. The Office Manager got on the phone and told me that I would have to wait ANOTHER 48 hours to find out the manufacturer of my shingles. I then asked to speak with the General Manager, since I own Majestic Plumbing & Electric, I understand that sometimes you have to go up the chain of command to get a problem resolved. At this point, the Office Manager proceeded to get belligerent and rude with me. She told me that the General Manager was unavailable and could not speak with me. I asked when he would be unavailable. She said he would call me back the next morning. I had already informed her of my dilemma. I then informed her at this point, that I expected a phone call or else I would be writing a review online. She then got even more hostile with me. It has now been almost 3 weeks and I have not heard from them. So I am now writing this review. The Customer Service of Paul Davis Restoration has been abysmal. I just want my roof to stop leaking. I now have to take more time away from my own business and meet with other contractors to try and get my problem resolved.
I have now had another contractor come and tell me that there was no flashing installed in portions of my roof and this is why my roof is leaking.

I would not recommend using these crooks to my worst enemy. Absolutely the worst company I have ever had to deal with. Actually the Water Litigation Department was great to work with, as everything was submitted through insurance, but when the project manager switched to the Restoration Department, it all went to shit.
Not only was the project manager a complete demeaning jerk but he was slower than a dead turtle trying to cross the road. I will be the first to admit that I had no idea what the difference between laminate and hardwoods were at the beginning of this disaster, but I would except that since this was his job that he would have taken more pride in his work and would want his clients to understand fully what was going at every step, but apparently my little reconstruction job wasn’t making them enough money for him to care.
I live in a 600 foot square condo and according to Paul Davis’s estimate it was going to cost the inflated restoration insurance (second) claim of almost $ 4,500 to put a 600 square foot place back together after a water leak inside a wall. This included a small area of drywall, carpet and sheet vinyl in the bathroom, laundry and kitchen with an additional $ 5,000 out of pocket to upgrade to laminate and tile. The water litigation insurance claim was submitted separate from the restoration claim and directly to my insurance which I later found out was also inflated for Paul Davis’s profit.
At that point I decided to put my place back together without the upgrades and without any out-​of-​pocket expenses. The Paul Davis contractors (my Project Manager was no where to be found) came in the following week to supposedly finish my place, so I could actually live there again instead of the Extended Stay Hotel. I walk into my condo on the day it’s supposed to be finished, thinking I’m about to get to move back in after this drawn out two months… ah haa.
I immediately called Paul Davis to only find out they hadn’t even scheduled flooring installers yet! I fired them on that call. All they had done was drywall and paint and on top of that, two out of the three areas they had painted, were the wrong color. My project manager blamed me for that one, saying it was a miscommunication on my part, but later found out it was actually to color match the shelves, so that they could charge me $ 375 to remove and put back up four 4-​foot wire shelves, which they NEVER did.
After being told I would have my final invoice in two days, I finally received the invoice nine days later, with charges out the kazoo. I mean these jackass’s falsely charged me for so many things it’s amazing that they haven’t been flagged by the insurance companies. For example, putting up laundry folding doors that were previously broken, two colors of paint, when they only used one, additional hours of labor for painting stripes when the wall was one solid color, painting for 151 square feet of shower area when 81 square feet of that was the bathtub and bath tile, remove & reset trim that was never done. The list goes on and on and as you would except the execution of the job was terrible.
I disputed the charges with no response back from the local division until I got corporate involved. As soon as I started tweeting corporate, it was like a fire was lit under their ass. Most of the charges were eventually dropped but Paul Davis still got over $ 1,800 for just painting a closet, laundry room and bathroom and repairing a small area of drywall. They won that battle but I imagine they won’t be in business long with such unethical practices.

It took months to get anyone to work with us on a claim and then over a year to get the work done. It was just a leak in the bathroom and replacing damaged hardwood which turned into a huge ordeal. Several project managers and many subcontractors later, the work was shoddy and often not finished. Then they put a lien on our house for not handing over the insurance check even though they hadn’t finished everything. Apparently they were doing «warranty work» because they couldn’t get the work done right the first time. AWFUL experience!

I see that this business has two listings, so I’m posting my review on both:
Whatever you do in life please, please, please do not create additional stress for yourself by hiring these jackasses for a remodel/​restoration job. They screwed things up every single step of the way and it was a nightmare for us for a solid 5 months on a small kitchen restoration project that should have taken 5 weeks MAX.
Let’s start with the contractor/​project manager who lied to us continually, failed to show up for appointments and charged us for his errors. Further, you think you’re getting a project manager, but the only person who managed this project was me. I had to make all sub-​contractor appointments myself and the contractor/​pm didn’t even come by to check the work of his sub-​contractors after it was completed. This resulted in improperly installed appliances, epoxy spills on our floors that we still haven’t been able to get out, $ 500 worth of unnecessary painting, granite installed unevenly, and I could go on and on.
In the middle of our project the PM/​Contractor apparently left the company and nobody at PDR could be bothered to contact us to let us know. Super professional.
We finally got an apology from the office manager (?) and he committed to helping us resolve the issues, but then he stopped responding as well. I tried contacting the owner — Wilson Tomala — multiple times and it should be no surprise that he never responded. They only way we finally managed to end the relationship was by sending a demand letter and preparing for mediation (which is required by the contract signed).
They submitted false information to our insurance company to inflate the estimate. They overcharged us on the items they did complete and also charged us for items that were not completed. They performed work that wasn’t necessary just to inflate the charges.
I could go on and on and on, but i think you get the gist. I wish there had been some reviews on Unilocal when we were doing our initial research. Might have saved us a bunch of time and a whole lot of money.
