I had to go for a name change after getting married. I did not have an appointment and was in and out in 30 minutes. Do not bother calling to set up an appointment and do not try going to the location in downtown Atlanta. Just go here and save yourself a few hours. Arrive early for fastest service.

I drove to the SS building thinking ok I’m going to be in and out. Boy was I wrong! Even though I only stayed about and hour and a half it was pretty cut and dry. It was pretty crowded but they move fast and I didn’t have an appointment.
Walked in went to the computer filled out my info and took a seat, was called in about an hour. Gave the clerk my info and spoke to her for about 20 mins. She was really nice and gave me a really good understanding of what we had filled out on the application and want to expect.

Very well organized. I got here early. Took a number. Was in and out in 15 minutes. Professional, pleasant service.
Tips: get your butt here early. Go onto SS website and print any forms and have all your documents together. Be prepared, be organized, and your visit will be pleasant.

These people are crazy. All I needed was a replacement SS card, which I have not had for 25 years. I took me 2 hours to hear my number called. Here is the great Irony… to renew your license in Georgia you need your SS card and a passport or birth certificate. Remember, I said renew. So I have a valid drivers license, which is all I need to get a copy of my SS card. How screwed up is that!!! The license is good enough to get the SS card but not good enough to renew the license. Typical slow and dysfunctional government office. Worthless

First of all, this review would have been 5 stars if the parking wasn’t an issue. Let me tell you about my adventure.
So being new to Georgia, I had no idea where this place was. Upon arrival, the parking was filled with cars and there was obviously not enough to host a large group of audience. I was surprised by how small the parking lot was… I was driving my huge RAM truck and I was literally having a cow when I had to «trespass» this sign that said «no parking and no passing through» but I’m sorry, I had to somehow make a U-​Turn to get out of the parking lot with my huge RAM truck… urgh…this was not the most annoying part. The most annoying part was when I tried to park at the local parking lots nearby, it’s like these businesses were ready to be rude and hire security just to make sure you don’t park there.
I didn’t know better, so I parked at the business behind the security office and as I was about to get out, this security lady cops up an attitude with me and goes «You can’t park here.» I was about to ask her politely, «where can I park?» Before I can even ask that question, she goes «I don’t know any rules and I’m not suppose to provide any information, all I know is about this business.» I was thnking «wow…you effin… biotch…» Excuse my French, but you would undertsand why I was angry when there was NOBODY parking at that parking lot and it was her and I starring off at one another at this empy lot with over 300 empty spaces and her saying YOU CAN“T PARK HERE.” Wow… was all I gotta say.
I drove my car out of that parking lot and literally parked my car at a nearby business and walked out to ask for permission if I can park there. Normally, they can’t, but this business was really kind and told me go ahead because they knew desperately that I needed to take care of my business. But wow… talk about walking in there stressed with negative energy already. What a horrible way to «breed» pissed off customers before they have even walked in.
Entering the buliding… the Security Administrative Officers were nice. They will guide you through the process of checking in. Make sure you grab a number and don’t freak out if you’re number 385 and they are only on 305, lol. I got 385 and they ended up splitting the range of the number for different purposes. I didn’t wait too long.
I gave 5 stars to Juan Ly. He was the one that processed my paperwork and he was soo nice and kind about it. I told him about the parking situation and he gets it. Thanks for your help, Juan! :)

I haven’t even got in there yet. I’ve circled around the parking area at least 8 times. The parking — -or lack thereof — is horrendous. There’s a «security» lady leaning against a parked car and she must be tired of the questions, because I got short nods when I asked if there were any others options for parking. I so hate when I need a place and the wait is either long or I can’t get in the place. I’d be back home if I didn’t want my husband’s last name so bad!!!

The only reason why I’m giving this place 4 stars instead of 5 is because of the parking and waiting times. There is not sufficient parking for a governmental office, but then again, it beats paying $ 30 in downtown at the passport agency. Not enough seatings for the wait. However, stating so, EVERYBODY here was sooo very nice and accommodating. Once it gets to your turn, you’re in and out within minutes.

Wow! Talk about fast service! I got here around 2:30, took a number and got called within 4 minutes. Probably the fastest government office I have ever in!

This location is great. The line will seem long when you get there but when you get in, it’s not long before they call your number. I’ve gone here three times over the years and each time it’s a breeze. As long as u have your documents before you get there you can get in and out. The ones servicing are nice as well.

Okay, so people usually come here to apply for a social security card, apply for a replacement sscard, or to apply for benefits (retirement, etc.). I came here on a Friday afternoon, and it was super duper packed. As soon as I walked in, there were two security guards, and a bunch of people sitting down. It was so packed, there were some people standing near the windows. (I got in trouble for standing near the chairs, since there weren’t any seats available) Anyway, there are two bathrooms, one for men, one for women. The bathroom door shows whether or not it’s «vacant» or «in use.»
So you go in, turn to your left, and theres a touch-​screen booth where you select your language, and what you’re there for. A ticket will come out with your number. (If you’re confused, just ask the security guard for help) They will let you know if you need to fill anything out while you wait. The intercom will announce the numbers in order «first come first served» basis. I waited a total of 2.5 hours.
There were a lot of babies, and people coughing (bad combination). Not a clean place, but you gotta do what you gotta do.
I would advise anyone to go right when they open, so that you won’t have to wait so long.

Always double check your documents. And every employee will tell you differently. Meaning, one will say you need both documents and the other will tell you another. So bring everything just in case. The employees are pretty friendly though. And the officers are very helpful and friendly as well. The waiting area is pretty big but it feels up quick. It gets pretty busy regardless of what time you go.

I went here as an afterthought at 1PM. I carried my SSC in my wallet against everyone’s advise and lost it. I have NO idea where it is but it was in my wallet when I lost it at the airport and it was no longer there when I got the wallet back. It’s been over a year now and I’ve had that nagging feeling in my head to get a replacement just in case.
I got off my fat ass (i wish) and drove there armed with my Passport, DL, W2 and that form you gotta fill out. When i arrived, everyone looked like they had been there for a while. The people sitting beside me already became friends and knew about each other’s life story. You know how that goes…
I wait patiently and 28 mins later, my # was called. The lady was courteous and efficient and for a replacement, she only needed my State ID (DL) and the form. I was out of there in 30 mins flat and left the poor guy to my right still sitting there even though he got there before me (sorry brah).
Your wait could be longer depending on the purpose of your visit so… Good Luck!
ETA: Received my SSC yesterday I wasn’t expecting it SO soon! I wish Traffic Court was like this!

I know that, generally speaking, the Unilocalers out there are a bunch of younger folks in their 20’s, 30’s, and 40’s. Therefore, as a public service for those who may need to have a new Social Security card issued, go on SS Disability Income, or are just curious to see where all that money subtracted from their paychecks under «FICA» goes, I am sharing my experiences here. First of all, be prepared to walk, because the parking lot is FULL unless you come at 9am sharp. Once in, you turn left and line up to indicate what your particular need is on a multiple-​choice touchscreen. You will receive a ticket with a letter/​number on it. Next, find a seat. You will not find a comfortable seat, as they’re all plastic buckets bolted to metal rails, arranged in rows just tight enough that, should you sit on one of the ends, people entering and exiting that row will give you a close-​up encounter with their anterior or posterior. Therefore, sit on the front row, if possible. You will be steadfastly gazing at one of the many screens on which ticket numbers are scrolling endlessly, directing each ticket holder to a window or office. It’s best to take a potty break BEFORE you get your ticket, because if you don’t show up at your assigned destination in 2 minutes, you have to get a new ticket and start all over. Are you looking forward to this yet? I know that you are :-#. Once you get to a window, you will actually talk with a person, who will want to see your ID, which should consist of a photo ID AND your SS card, or a photo ID AND your last paycheck with SSN AND a notarized birth certificate copy. Believe it or not, once you get through this, things go rapidly and smoothly. Why 4 stars? Because they haven’t started doing body patdowns yet.
