Came here for a soft shell crab sandwich, steamed shrimp and a cold beer. The view was amazing. Our waiter Brian was a great guy. Made sure my beer was full and the food came out hot. Portions were huge but nothing I couldn’t handle. The smell pulled me into this place and people rave about the food. It was really good. Great view and a great place to unwind after a long day in the yards. Try it and have one for me.

Great service from Brian. Wife and I came here to avoid traffic and found a really cool new place to enjoy a great priced drink and meal. We will definitely return on another warm night. I had seared ahi and it was cooked perfectly, as was the steamed shrimp.

Well here we are with another installment of places I wouldn’t eat at again. Tonight lucky place is the ocean view fishing pier restaurant. My wife arrived at a decent time. And we got a booth and the seats were hard wood no cushion at all hope my hemoriods don’t get inflamed from sitting there(but the did) because the slow service they provided. We order the she crab soup that came out as milky drippy water(not creamy) substance with very little crab meat but it did have a good taste. Our next item was a Caesar salad my gosh for the price of lettuce with one maybe two crotons I made out like bandit $ 8.00 for lettuce people. The next. Item is fish and chips I have never eaten flounder for fish and chips and let me tell you it was awful. To much breading and to little meat. The fries came out soggy in what every oil they used to cook it up in. The dessert was a store bought lemon cello cake with real FAKE whip cream understand if your going to serve store bought dessert then Doctor it up somehow. Enough said until my next installment.

I definitely recommend it! It was a very good lunch. Brian was our server and he was excellent! He was very courteous and attentive. I really appreciated his suggestions and his great attitude. I had the fish sandwich which came with fries. I was worried that it would be overly oily but it was just delicious. My friend had the crab cake sandwich. You have a great view of the beach and water pretty much from every direction. They also had a nice choice of music. Will go again if I’m back in town.

This place has the potential to be a great restaurant. Great location, with great views, but that was it. What it needs; though, is some renovations and new management. Filthy tables and menus, plastic cups for drinks… really? The food was not terrible, but wasn’t great either. Was just average. Will stick to just fishing next time and bring my own food.

Headboat fishing cost $ 38+tip for first mate, leaves promptly at 8a and then again at 1p. They provide everything you need(rod, reel, bait) but food n bevs. Bring: FnB, a cooler, a bucket for your catch, a rag if you don’t want to touch the fish, sunscreen. If you pay full price for the 8a, you get access to fish off the pier so bring your tackle anyways! Sometimes they offer a discount to the 1p boat($ 25) if you went on the 8a boat.

If your going out to eat save yourself some time and money and don’t go to the Ocean View. I have been there several times for shrimp and beers and it was good but for dinner you’ll want to find another restaurant. I was there for dinner last night and we went up to the deck. There were more than a few tables available, so there were not a lot of people there. As soon as we sat down we were told that if we were going to order dinner it would take about a hour before our food would be ready. For restaurant with empty tables that seemed a little long but we appreciated her honesty and we decided to stay. I ordered the fish sandwich with lettuce, tomato and onion. I had them hold the toppings and just had the fish. My mistake, what you end up with is a huge bum with a small piece of fish. The fish came with fries which were OK. To be fair to the waitress who served us, it did not take an hour to get our food. Once we ordered she was following up with us asking if we needed more water, soda or another beer. We got our food in about 45 minutes. Bottom line, if you want beer and shrimp this may be one of the places to consider in the Norfolk area. If you want dinner, look for another restaurant! Gary

this restaurant here is pretty good. you have to recognize what type of food might be good here and order accordingly. I’ve had shrimp tacos fried shrimp and the mad haddock fish sandwich. not all at once… on three occasions. all were very good. really. I’ve also had she crab soup. very good. it’s rustic décor bar atmosphere. the waitress we had was super nice and attentive. I come for lunch and haven’t had a bad time yet. I’ll be back.

Ocean View didn’t impress me restaurant and food-wise the first time around, but when I gave them a second chance they blew me out of the water.(No pun intended) On our first visit, we sat on the rooftop to watch the sunset as we ate our meal. Didn’t really expect music that night, and it wasn’t the greatest(grunge, if I remember correctly… I get so tired of hearing those songs at different venues), so that was a tad disappointing. The food was nothing too special(fish tacos), and service was hard to come by seeing as we were on the rooftop. BUT– when I went back the second time, there was a huge difference! This time, we ate inside, but had a party of 10. My entire family of in-laws crowded in, and our server was just awesome the whole time. She somehow got all of our food to us at the same time just minutes after we ordered, and kept the tartar sauce and lemons coming the whole time. The table favorite was the fish n chips(which is what I had), and it really was great. Definitely not the best I’ve had, it could use a little more seasoning and a little less greasy-flavor, but overall was a good dish. The cole slaw was okay, but also could use more seasoning to really get a good flavor out of it. Them fries tho– they were outstanding! It was one of the few times lately that my eyes really got my stomach in trouble. The view here really is great, too, you can’t beat it. Yes, their prices could be a bit lower, but it is fresh seafood on a fishing pier in the ocean/bay, so what can you expect. I love the atmosphere, I’ll definitely keep bringing family and friends for a fun day out.

Not packed, bar service was horrible. She spent more time talking to her friends than she did eating on customers. I don’t know her name so I will describe her as the«heavy set lady wearing clothes that were WAYTOSMALLFORHER». Ronnie Boone may own both but the staff at Greeenies really out classes the bartenders at the pier… I’ll give them a second shot

I give this place 4 stars for the brilliant view of the sunset!!! Not many vegetarian options but I did order the mozzarella and tomato salad with balsamic reduction — very delicious! I also ordered a side if asparagus, which was fresh but slightly over salty in my opinion. My husband had the fish tacos and apparently they were good because he never even offered me a bite. Our friends ordered shelled shrimp and it was very fresh! The kids had grilled cheese and chicken tenders with really good«real» french fries(though they were a little cold). We sat in the glider table which was fun for the kids. They had lots of cool seats(tall adirondack chairs and a deck) and nice choice of happy hour drinks. Not a fancy place, but the atmosphere is really cool and that sunset– just gorgeous!

Disappointed. The crab cakes were terrible. They said they were fresh but I don’t think so. It seemed like it was frozen and shaped like a manufactured pancake. Just awful. The fish sandwich was obviously a frozen patty. I expected better from a café on a pier. Also the rooftop deck was worn and dirty. Only good thing was the view. I won’t go back. So sad because it could be a great place.

Service was great ! I had the fish sandwich which was pretty good and my husband had the chicken sandwich. I had a mixed drink which didn’t come out the way I asked but it was still good. The view on the top of the pier was great and we will go back for sure

Just moved here from AZ and OVFP is already my new favorite place! I went expecting overpriced«pier» food. Boy was I wrong! It’s moderately priced but the portions are HUGE! And you can’t beat the customer service! Service staff was extremely attentive and very nice! I’m so glad to have found such a great place right in my backyard!

I arrived expecting another decent meal at one of my favorite spots in town and ended up having my best experience yet. Brian was our server. He was nice, prompt, and very knowledgeable about the menu. I asked about domestics and he went down the line from memory without saying um once. Color me impressed!!! He also suggested a massive cod sandwich special which my lady enjoyed tremendously. At the ocean view pier the good service and quality of food consistently brings me back. Nailed it tonight guys. Thanks.

Terrible service. Young women worried about texting and playing grab ass with the the bus boys. Food was just okay. Great place to fish and people watch. Great views from the too of the too of the restaurant.

I left this restaurant amazed… Not in a good way. Ultimately, the terrible service killed any and all potential the Pier has with a great location and view. They could easily be the«go-to» spot if they could JUST get their act together! We were not greeted by our hostess, she just nodded at us when we tried to make conversation as she cleaned a table for us. We then waited ten minutes for our server, and fifteen minutes for drinks. Food took well over a half an hour, and it came out burnt. The tables next to us all had burnt food as well. The fries that I had heard were so good, were just rock hard shells. A table behind us had been served an appetizer, and it sat with them for maybe three or four minutes before someone realized it went to the wrong table… How to solve it? By picking it up after it had sat with them, and just putting it on the correct table! WHAT?! To top it off, when our(seventy dollar!) bill came, the gratuity was added for our party of five, when the menu clearly said it would be added for parties of six or more. The server said it was«up to them to decide» when they add the automatic gratuity to whichever size party… No. The bottom line is, you will get absolutely horrific service, and the food would be mediocre and slightly overpriced even if it wasn’t burnt. Yes, it has a nice view, but don’t bother wasting your time unless you are only going for drinks.

I love coming to the pier. It is only two blocks from my house. Sometimes the food is really good, sometimes not so much. You can not beat the VIEW anywhere in hampton roads! The french fries are top notch. They are fresh cut french fries. For the drinker they have thirsty thursday from 4 – 9. $ 1 drafts. They also usually have a good/decent beer on special for $ 2 – 2.50. I usually always get the blackened chicken sandwich or the blackened tuna sandwich. The blackened tuna salad or grilled chicken salad is also a healthy option. I have never ordered any of the more expensive items off of the menu. The tuna bites and steak bites are really good as well. Kids chicken tenders are only $ 5 and they were really good!
