Taste of the Island

WoW!!! Is just how to describe this place. Food is awesome. I had the jerk chicken and beef patty. My mouth still wants more.

Actually named Taste of the Islands (plural). All I got was 4 beef patties and a couple of Cola Champagnes, but the patties were the best I’ve had between here, Philly and Jamaica. Light flaky crust, filled with more meat than I’ve ever had in a patty before and tastier than what we had in Trelawny, near Montego Bay and Falmouth recently.
Actually, I call this Better Tasting than on the Island! Don’t confuse this with Just Jerk, which closed before a change of management opened with the new name.

I actually really like this quick spot… Prices are not bad, food is tasty, fast to-​go. You have to go buy some Jamaican food from here! And another plus, it’s right around the corner from where I live.

So friggin’ DELICIOUS! I’m a big time jerk chicken lover. The place used to be a joint called Just Jerk, which was eh… okay. The meat was always dry (especially the jerk chicken) and the food was never hot. On top of that, I always felt I was taking a risk by ordering from them because the place was so dirty. So I only ventured there when I had big cravings but couldn’t get down to the city.
Taste of the Island… which island? I don’t know, but it doesn’t even matter as long as the joint is in Norristown (close to me). The place is under new ownership since Just Jerk closed down. The minute I walked into the place, I was already certain that these folks are gonna make it. The place is brighter, cleaner, and it seems more professional. The young girl at the counter is sweet and has some awesome manners.
Lets get to the food. I ordered the Oxtail and Jerk Chicken. Both were flavorful and juicy. It was perfect… wasn’t missing a single thing. For the sides, I had rice & beans and I took the risk and went for mac n cheese. I say risk because the previous place made some bad flavorless mac n cheese… I was so glad I got it, because their mac n cheese was flavorful and cheesy! Overall, I liked everything about the place… the cleanliness, the service, and the food. Nothing to complain about here. Zero nilch notch.
My wife, who declined the offer when I asked if she wanted anything — she killed just about half my meal. She didn’t want anything because the previous restaurant was just, not good. I’m pretty sure she’ll ask me to get her something from Taste of the Island after this. She said it was very good as well.
Anyways, I just wanna finish this review by saying… Your food is worthy of a larger crowd… You have the capability to draw in businesses and residents of surrounding areas because your cleanliness, service, and food is top notch… so… WHY ARE YOU GUYS NOT ON MAIN STREET IN NORRISTOWN?!

Formerly known as just jerk, but it’s now it’s NEW AND IMPROVED! Service is sometimes slow but the food is top notch! I had a jerk chicken platter and the meat was so moist and flavorful, the sides were slightly above average tasting. The employees were kind and welcoming. Prices are fair and low. Great place to fill up for $ 10.
